Regarding Stennis,
Lynched him. I didn't think he was guilty at all, but I was afraid that if I don't, Saskia might die. Hell, I went down Iorveth's path my first time through because I was doing whatever I can to help the non-human.
There are only two constants in Witcher: 1, everyone is an ass. 2, nonhuman life is goddamn depressing. I'm sure the victims of actions to improve #2 would turn out to be asses.

I just resolved the Royal Blood Quest yesterday and
chose to leave it up to Saskia to decide Stennis's fate. I guess I always lean toward stability. Constant war and rebellions don't make things any easier for a Witcher and Geralt makes it clear in the beginning of game that he's not interested in war. If Saskia dies and the mob lynches Stennis, Aedirn will fall deeper into leaderless chaos. Aedirn will fall to Henselt's forces and things will likely become worse. On top of that, Henselt has no heir so there is even more instability.

It's one of the best quests in the game because it has a huge impact on the world and there is no obvious right or wrong answer, especially with the information that the player has access to, at the time.

need some help.

Just bought this game and im doing the tutorial. Its asking me to riposte when a sword symbol appears on my foes chest after parrying. it just isnt showing up and ive tried for 30 mins straight and im about ready to give up on this.

Basically, he attacks and i hit RT and hold it, then nothing happens, i can attack him but the symbol doesnt show up, even at full vigor. Any clues please because i cant believe im ready to give up this early on a god damn tutorial.

Hold parry before he attacks and just before his attack the icon will flash.

BTw this game looks amazing on xbox. just started the bit where you go to the siege tower. Really impressive so far. cant wait to get into this.

I'm having a hard time with the
Crown Witness quest, where I have to escort Brigidia. She keeps getting killed when you get to the area with 8 or so mercenaries.

Any tips on how to get past this part? I use pretty much all of my spells, but nothing helps.

Do you have Aard upgraded to the group version? That and group Ingi were usually the answer for everything.

The in game AA is FXAA I believe. It's really just preference. Play around with both the in game AA, sharpening on and off, and the injector until you get the combination you like.

I got grudge sucked!
Finished chapter 2 on Roche's side. Its great how that chapter ended pretty from where it began but everything pretty much made sense how it unraveled.

A flea has bitten a lion indeed.

The best AA is Ubersampling (with sharpening on). Else, the game own AA with sharpening off. I tried the injector, but I don't see any change.

I can't see sharpening under the video settings... where is it?

i used the equivalent of AXii (red haze bombs) to get two of the men to fight each other...not only do two adversaries not hurt brigida but they whittle theri own halth down as well.... I found I died faster than brigida owning to getting hit by those archers.....but prevailed whn I just focused on my own quen instead of fooling around with aard.

Thanks for the help. I just let the chips fall where they may for that quest.

I beat the game tonight and it was fantastic. Started stronger than it ended, but was good all around.

I'm starting to think that there is a touch of irony to the whole premise of Geralt being bred to be a monster killer, but spending 90 percent of his time dealing with human problems.

I hate killing
letho but I feel that it's the right thing to do. He feels no remorse when he kills. I can't justify letting him go because then I'm ultimately responsible for whoever he kills.

A decision like that, where I still hate to call it that way, but still feel compelled to see it through is great story telling.

The only reason I didn't kill Letho was him saving Triss. I owed him another favor, thus I decided to spare him from my blade.

Finished my Iorveth Path today. Let's start with the few negatives: while the new quest was awesome and the new ending slides were much appreciated (I'm a sucker for this kind of things), the "4 hours of new content" is a bit of a lie. The CG intro and the Dandellion scenes between chapters are not really necessary, and Chapter III is still a bit rushed, even if I think it works a bit better with Iorveth.

I've yet to play the new Roche quest but with Iorveth Chapter III works a lot like an epilogue of what started in Chapter II (Philippa controlling Saskia), while with Roche basically a "new" storyline is introduced and I expected it to be fleshed out a little more

Nontheless, this is probably the best story driven rpg I played this generation. I like it a lot more that TW1, the political plot is much more interesting and CDPR really fleshed out the world a lot better. It really plays like an interactive ASOIAF/Game of Thrones, or at least the closest thing, with all the scheming, backstabbing and power playing. I don't know if this approach is faithful to the novels..but actually I don't care. Let's keep it this way. I can't wait for TW3, but I'm definitely not done with this game. I'll replay the Roche path to try out the new content. And I'm going to try some different combination of the final choices to prepare my "canon" Iorveth playthrough, since for this first run I wanted to try the exclusive content of this side of the game.

I chose to save Saskia with the dagger, but in my definitive playthrough I'm probably gonna save Triss and contain the witch hunt. I've nothing against Saskia and I actually liked her last conversation, but I find her a bit naive and I don't think her "nonhumans safe haven" can work or be useful with Nilfgaard invading.

humans can be monsters too ;)

What exactly is new in Act III? I'm doing a Iorveth run this time so I don't have a point of comparison to pre EE.

There is a quest called The Secrets of Loc Muinne that was added. It's not necessarily a main quest but it is definitely worth doing. I don't believe you can miss it either, as the interaction that spawns the quest is not missable. There is another, completely different quest in Act III if you are on Roche's path. Both quests take place in a new area, as well.

Speaking of that quest, I cheated on the last riddle so I have no idea how you are supposed to figure it out based on the clues they give you. Any insight as to how one would come to the solution (marked as spoilers, of course)?

There's a new quest for each path, a couple of new short cutscenes were added, a new outro and ending slides that recap some of your choices. They flesh out events that were poorly explained/executed in the original version. A nice addition.

The ending slides are a bit lackluster though :/ they recap only the major event of each chapter (and some are not even your choices, just events that are bound to happen if you choose Iorveth or Roche).

I tried changing my final choices (Iorveth Path) and
there's no slides concerning Saskia, despite your decision at the end you see only the "Vergen is free" slide. I basically did all the opposite choices in Chapter III and only the slide regarding the Conclave changed. No reference to Stennis or Saskia.

The answers are from
the subject matter of the books in the room.
Although one seemed a bit more vague then the other two so I messed it up once or twice.

This fight with the boss at the end of Chapter 2 is really frustrating. On save reload they start me out 2 feet in front of him, which almost always guarantees that he gets a hit on me right off the bat.

I started out siding with Roche but wasn't feeling
Henselt or Dethmold
. Thankfully I kept a save at the point of the branching paths, so now I'm on team Iorveth and while I'm not too far in, I'm liking it better.

Taking my time trying to absorb everything, I still need to take time out and read all the journal/character entries. Great game worth every penny.

So I finally started this last night. Just 3 days after beating the first game. It was a bit of a shock, really. I had gotten pretty fond of the mechanics in the first game, so I really wasn't feeling all the new stuff at first. I played for about 3 hours, and by the time I was wrapping things up I felt I had a pretty good hold on everything.

It's strange, but one thing I really miss is the cursor on screen. A lot of the time I would point it at a door or chest and run towards it until the option to 'open' popped up, then I'd click it and could take me hands off the keyboard for a while. Probably seems stupid, but it was just something I had done for so long in the first game.

I'm able to run everything on High with a pretty stable 35 FPS, which is good enough, I guess. I was spoiled with the constant 100 FPS in the first game, though.

Also, I didn't realize there would be the option to import my save which was a nice surprise. Just a few hours in and I'm already seeing my decisions from the first game come into play here. Question, though,
I chose Triss over Shani, so Triss was in bed with me at the beginning for 2, but would Shani be there if I would have picked her?
.

I'd also just like to point out for anyone who hasn't played the original - Multiple times I have started games before with the intention of rolling right into the sequel, but most of the time I get so burnt out by the end of the first game that I never end up following through. At the end of the first game, I could not wait to start the next game immediately. The only reason it took me 3 days is because I went out of town. If you haven't played the first game, play it.

Acidentally upgraded my Yrden to link and Yrden Level 2...and it's something I rarely use :(

I'm level 23 now and still in the 2nd chapter. Will I rank up enough to basically buy everything or should I just go for a max Yrden upgrade and see if its useful?

Max level is 35, impossible to get 'everything.'

There are a lot of niggling issues I have with this game that really made me hate it playing on dark mode. Why the hell do they unlock the different talent paths so late, why do I have to pause for a second to unsheathe my sword, why did they start the act 1 boss fight just by walking towards it, etc. etc. etc.

edit: wait, hold the fuck up, what's the criteria to unlock the other talent trees? Just put a point in one of the final witcher ones? If so, fuck me.

Just finished this on the 360 last night; went with Roche the whole way. While there a few quest glitches here and there, I think this is the best 3rd person title of it's kind on consoles. The dialogue and excellent way they handled the maturity of the story wowed me. A complaint; why do they always start you out with your sword sheathed? I could imagine it on Dark Mode being even a bigger pain in the ass. The lack of save points in certain situations really pissed me off as well. I don't want to watch a cutscene over and over again; let me fight the damn boss.

Just started Chapter 2, Roche's path (I kept a savegame from the moment of path choice, so I'll do another with Iorveth once I finish the game).

It looks magnificent, but playing on normal, I think the game is quite hard, especially the boss fights and large battles - I usually beat them the 5th or 6th time. The default first attack that the boss/enemy usually lands on you after loading the battle also makes things more difficult.

What attributes should I level up for the future?

Melitele's heart on dark is the stupidest fucking thing ever

wraiths on dark are the stupidest thing ever

Lol. They will only follow you so far. Run away, attack when they are separated by a few paces, then run away. Draw them away if they ever decided to go up the hill and attacker her. Ignii is fairly effective, too.

Anything is viable. I prefer about 60/40 signs/swords.

edit: Although I would recommend you get the high tier skills from at least two, and then distribute the others points as you prefer.

Not sure of your exact confusion, but you have to level up to (I think) 7 and use six points in the general tree, and then the other three trees will all unlock. So you have 28 skills to distribute total. not even close to getting them all. You might be able to max one tree (or get close) if you completely ignore the others.

For whatever reason I thought that the trees didn't open up until you hit a certain point in the story so I was saving them all to level up Quen to make it easier on myself, so I went through all of Act 1 spending only like...3 points. fml

You don't get enough points in Act 1 to make much of a difference in playstyle, anyways, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Actually not feeling them when on the Roche path ends up sort of being a good thing.

I am replaying on Dark with the Roche path, I liked the Iorveth path more. The 24 hour save file clock is always wrong for me my 360 time and date is correct so this must be a bug.

Hey guys, I just started TW2 yesterday on steam (EE). So I started it up and all and did the tutorial bit and went into it. First thing I went for was of course the Dark mode (finished the first one on the hardest mode as well). Unfortunately I cannot even see this mode as a difficulty option; Easy, Normal, Hard are the only modes I am allowed to choose from.

Do I have to finish the game before Insane and Dark are unlocked for me? Is it because I loaded up from a TW1 save?

some control issues are really bothering me in this game. why is there such a delay in drawing a sword when you're under attack? just have it auto-draw the correct one right away if you're not going to make my button presses responsive. why is there a huge delay in throwing a bomb that happens once in a while? i'm talking 3-4 seconds.

also, the map sucks.

I never experienced those control issues but I will agree that the map sacrifices usability for style. It's usable but it could have been a lot better.

As much as I do love this game, there are two big negatives for me, which are even more obvious on my second playthrough:

- besides being already nerfed, quen + roll is still ridicuosly overpowered. You can dominate every enemy with it, you basically don't need much more.

- the loot aspect is very poor in this game. Still wearing mage trousers (ok, DLC..) but you barely find any loot which is worthwhile and the jumps in quality are only very small. It's certainly not a game focusing on loot, so it's fine. But it's kinda annyoing when you get a kings sword and it's still 10 points weaker than the sword you just bough... o_O
