Shamelessly stolen from elsewhere but its big!!

G'damn.

My cat suddenly became very happy.

But he doesn't know he won't get it.

From the Amazon stream: on Hard+ difficulty, there will be a lot less map markers (you will have to figure out the location of various quests on your own) and meditation won't replenish health.

Argh, I wish I could enable that feature alone without increasing combat difficulty. I like when games don't hold your hand with regard to exploration.

Pretty sure you have the option of turning them off manually if you want, on any difficulty, but on certain difficulties (presumably Hard and Dark) you simply don't have the option of turning them on.

But will the NPCs give you directions like they do in Morrowind or will I be running around like a headless chicken before I inevitably succumb to Gamefaqs?

That is the best fucking news I've heard all day. Finally a developer who provides gamers with more of a challenge in the correct way rather than just adding more health to enemies.

This is seriously awesome.

Didn't EE just rebalance game while combat mechanics themselves were left intact?

Absolutely not.
It removed alot of collissions and pshycal feedbacks.
It made Geralt less controllable, stubborning executing combos.
It made block pure no-sense garbage.

1.35 is the best TW2.

I take it this is Death March? Did they say what the one between that and normal has?

I meant what the differences are like how he said meditation doesn't regen health anymore like it does on normal.

No XP from killing monsters in blood and broken dongs and death march, new abilities for monsters and I think they hit harder, their HP stays the same I think.

That actually sounds slightly annoying. It's like you have to pick between mind numbingly easy combat and busy-work running around if the areas don't have any real discenrable landmarks. If the areas are defined enough, then I actually wouldn't mind this too much. Morrorwind didn't have map markers, and was one of the better TES games for it.

Not regaining health through meditation though just sounds like time consuming nonsense where you have to collect herbs to make potions to regain health outside of combat.

Exactly.

I feel ashamed to say that I might play the game on normal. Not because I can't handle hard, but because the game is so long and I really want to beat it as soon as possible but easy would be too easy. I beat bloodborne not too long ago, I don't need another big challenge.

Potions are refilled automatically (if you have enough alcohol) and only need to be crafted once.

Killing monsters shouldn't give XP on any difficulty, only completing quests. Or do I just have bad info?

BaBB & DM
  • No HP regen through mediation
  • Less XP from completed quests
  • Less stats / level up
  • Enemies have little bit more HP, gain more attacks and become more aggressive
  • You need explore more based on given directions etc. before getting marker on map (if I understood Amazon stream right)

Edit:
What difficulty is everyone choosing? Its my first witcher game, but I like a challenge.. So im still wondering which one to choose.
Still deciding between BaBB and DM.

Read the above. Reviews have been saying that the combat is on the easy side and that you would probably want to raise the difficulty one level above what you would normally use, yet there's this new info that sounds like it could be good, or bad.

What? So then what is the point of meditating to regain health or for that matter, disabling that feature if it's a non issue anyway? Do you buy alcohol at shops or something?

Means you have to drink a Swallow potion which raises your toxicity and leaves less room for other boosting potions. On easier difficulties you can simply meditate to regain health without gaining toxicity.

And he gave Witcher 2 a 9. What's your point?

He gave The Witcher 2 a 9? hmm.. ok, imo TW2 was far away from being a 9, i played the game for just a few hours then stopped. I have to see about TW3 but i really hated The Witcher 2.

lol how is this not fixed?

What am I supposed to be looking at? Are you talking about his moustache and beard? If so, it just looks like it's showing through cutouts of the armor. If that's actually supposed to be smooth, then yeah it's silly. But I honestly don't expect to never see any clipping in most games like this.

Wait so you DO get XP from killing monsters in difficulties below BnBB and Death March? Also, may I ask, is Death March the permma-death difficulty setting? Seems kind of ridiculous in an open world RPG, but I guess it's more of a speed run difficulty? lol

Given how much CDPR has gone for small touches, I'm sure they've done this.

I pre-ordered and preloading now (PSN) Can't wait, in less than 4 days!

No, they took out permadeath.

Last what we have heard for now they have scrapped permadeath from TW3. Death March is basically Dark difficulty.

The Amazon stream is painful to watch.

Ellohime is... yeah. Cohh was better.

A...are you serious? You never really thought twice about getting the Witcher 3 and you hated The Witcher 2?

Oh i constantly think about getting the game or not but then i look back at my time with TW2 and yeah... wasn't the biggest fan of this game. I know they improved a lot but when i watch streams or see gameplay vids it doesn't really do much for me.

You didn't like Witcher 2 or DA:I.

I recommend saving yourself $60. You won't be satisfied with this either IMHO.
