And of course there's a Lannister in this now.

Just an FYI.
CD Projekt has had amazing graphical chops forever. This is how Witcher 1 looks. This is 2007 game running on Aurora (2002 NWN) engine.

Those who want to get ready for Witcher 3 and have full experience, I recommend playing through Witcher 1 EE (in over the shoulder mode, do not get discouraged by chapter 1 boss) and Witcher 2 EE.

I really need to play TW1 again soon. The environments are still gorgeous.

I've yet to finish Witcher 1. I've started twice and got stuck in chapter 3 both times. Played through witcher 2 three times.

PS: I can't stop listening to "Hunt or Be Hunted"

I think I've watched this trailer 20 times already. I don't know how I'm going to last until February. Only The Witcher 3 could top The Witcher 2 as my most anticipated game of all time.

Yeah I got pretty far in TW but gave up some ways through it, in a swamp near a town. Even using guides it was convoluted for me.

First time I have ever started a sequel without playing the original first. I am usually a stickler for doing that.

Don't know if I will ever go back.

I DO need to finish TW2 though. And plan on it soon.

I edited my last post. Also, he recently released a new book in the series called Season of Storms.

And this book is a prequel novel taking place before the games and before the Saga.
I think Sapkowski already accepted that the games are canon, whether he wants it or not - most readers play them and consider them as such, not to mention all the nonreaders.
So he will probably not write any further novel that would invalidate the games. Thankfully.

I finished TW1 three times. I even played it on release, unpatched, where loading times took 2 minutes each. It was still worth it. Sure some writing was a bit janky, and dialogues were kinda stiffer. But the game still ooozes atmosphere and has just wonderful design.

Never really understood the hate for swamps either. Killing those exploding bloodzuigers by the dozens was hilarious.

Ok, get out of my head, that's exactly where I stopped playing.

Ha, he is pretty hard for a newcomer, it is good to use some oils and be well prepared before going there. That whole encounter was not the best design exactly, considering the long cutscene there. But it was the lowest point of the game, it is all better from there.

He recognizes that the games are a whole other entity from his books but I'm sure he has no problem with them co-existing. Shouldn't be a problem one way or the other anyway. :)

And I think the epilogue of the newest book takes place (spoilers just in case)
after the book series. But nothing of note happens to invalidate the games
. So yeah, they co-exist just fine canon or not. :D

I'm still having a hard time believing the game will look and run like this, even on PC.

I know this is CD PROJEKT we're talking about here, and it's definitely not in their habit to bullshit or downgrade (The Witcher 2 was super impressive when it released), but still I mean come the fuck on, dem graphics are unbelievably too good to be true.

So that's Charles Dance voicing the king? Awesome! Seems like he was announced for the game almost a year ago, but I had no idea :lol

Huh, interesting. I am super excited about the new book, still waiting for a CZ translation, hopefully coming in november.
Best thing would be if CDP somehow found a way to get Sapkowski interested in a way HBO got GRRM interested, who is fully on board with the show. But I guess games just ain't his thing :)

He voices emperor actually, and yes it is Mr. Dance.

So ... should I read the books in German or English?

I'm reading in German, as at the time I bought the first three (the two short story compeniums + Blut der Elfen) they were only out in german. And as mentioned above the books are all out in German but not in English.

If you played the games in English there will be some names that are different e.g. Dandelion -> Rittersporn..

I saw the announcement ages ago, but we never heard anything about it again so I wondered if I'd just dreamed it. Then all of a sudden he turns up in this trailer, doing an amazing job, no less. "I shall give her what she deserves..."

How can the ending be spoiled? They are all different, depending on your choices.

They are not that different, plus characters are still the same, so stuff that could be revealed about them at the end depending on what you chose doesn't change. All that changes is whether you see it or not.

Jesus fucking Christ.
THE REAL NEXT GEN STARTS HERE.

Everything looks top notch, I just can't fucking wait for this now.
Guess I'll go and replay Witcher 2, but this time actually save Triss.

Looks amazing, i hope i can buy this, obviously i can buy it but the thing is, i have never played a witcher title before, i think i heard last year at E3 though one of the developers saying they are trying to do something with the story so even if you have never played the witcher before playing this one it will be fine

Hope this is the case as i want to play this so bad, my brother keeps telling how much he loves skyrim and still plays it all the time on his 360, i just sent him a text message with this video and said to him who needs skyrim on PS4 when we got this

Ahhh bugger not sure now whether I should sell my recently purchased GTX 770 and upgrade to a 780 now! Or just wait and save up for whatever comes out later in the year

Honestly I'm really surprised at the production values.

I was expecting something really pretty, but the extra little layers of polish and attention to detail on things on things like cinematic framing and animations are something that I didn't think they'd invest so heavily in.

Like there's nothing here that sticks out in a "this wasn't made by a AAA publisher for a gazillion dollars" way.

You've got a long time to play The Withcer 1-2 before this comes out, you shouldn't skip on these amazing games in my opinion, that's just wrong.
