OH JESUS it just hit me who the
spirit under the tree
in the Ladies of the Wood quest is! I read the book She Who Knows hours earlier, so I didn't make the connection at the time, but my subconscious just dragged it up for me now that it's much too late to do anything about it.

I... I chose poorly...

Started yesterday, had the game crash on me on my second gwent game. After that read some things about it crashing when you take the first pass in gwent.

Thought the cut scenes weren't looking as smooth as they could.

Playing on PS4 digital copy.

Has anyone a solution for this? Not as far in the game so deleting and reinstalling wouldn't hurt as much if it has to be done for improving the game experience.
In regards to the Gwent bug, it seems to only crash when you pass during the tutorial. Just forfeit the tutorial game and play again. This worked for me.

I
I think what makes Anna end up getting turned into a Water Hag is the Crones finding out you freed the spirit. In my game i never told the Chief that i freed it.

I think what makes them turn Anna is the fact that the children are rescued. Johnny makes that point. I think you can free the spirit and not ask it to free the children.

I read it afterwards and it made me feel so much worse than I already was. Especially as I had that book in my inventory for so long...

That makes me wonder...
If you can free it and not tell the hags? I didn't tell the chief what I had done, but I told the hags during the confrontation with them.

Was your only option to tell the crones? Was there an option to withhold information like there was when i talked to the chief? Because when i got back to the Hags they never asked if i killed the spirit. I guess meeting the spirit first is a major fork inthe storyline path for that quest.

late game story quest question:

so I just got to the Disturbance quest and while I'm pretty sure Uma is magic disturbance, walking up to him with the protaswandthing out isn't triggering anything. is the scripting broken or am I just super dumb?

Well decided to mess with a bunch of stuff and try to get some different looks and such. I took Vivek's SweetFX pre-set and tweaked it as well as messed with a few other options. I think some of these test shots turned out pretty ok, for the area that I was in. Trying to get a photorealistic feeling

It's been a few days since I've seen the dialog, but I remember that there were options talking about the outcome of that part of the quest. There might've been an option to lie about killing it? Not sure. But I know that they didn't know I had freed it until I told them.

I think you're right, i remember the crones mentioning something about eating the kids. For me the option to ask it to save the children never came up because i freed the spirit before i ever saw the kids. the spirit wrecked that Crone worshipping village though haha.

When I get everything good to go I'll upload it into a pastebin probably. Still tweaking it as we speak. Props to Vivek though as he did a lot of the work, I'm just adding some stuff to it that I like a bit more. Trying to give it a bit more colors and pop

Looking good! Please share the preset when you are done! :)

Thank brotha! You put in the hard work! I'm mostly just trying to add a bit more colors into it but still keep the original look you gave it.

Haha. In that case, the guy who did project reality put in the hard work, since mine was based on that. We all benefit from an open community :D

Do share your settings when you are done. Might compare and switch

Where can I download Vivek's SweetFX?

so, I don't feel like this is thread worthy but

this is the most technically impressive game of all time, yes?

I know we're all still gushing and wowed but I still can't even comprehend the size, level of detail, and man hours put into this thing

I told my friends today that it is the most impressive game i had ever played today. I arrived at Skellige for the first time and poked around for an hour or so and I just didn't understand. The tech, art, writing, music. There is so much of it and it is such high quality. It is pretty crazy.

Quen is nothing compared to Axii.

I got the first level but never really got to using it. What's so great about it? I like how regular Quen is just an effect you cast on yourself while this one is an active shield you have to maintain.

Oh don't worry, I got improved Axii too.

When something hits you while you have your maintained shield up you restore health. Like a lot of health.

Wow. Just finished the quest to (spoiler for level 22 story mission)
travel to the Isle of Mists
and
the scene where Geralt reunites with Ciri was really great.

Is Skellige
super short
or something? I did a couple quests with
Yennefer and now I gotta head back to Velen

Haven't even touched the stuff with
Cracht's kids

Man, this game. I'm in Novigrad going about my business on a quest. My medallion jingles so I investigate.
Find monster tracks for an entirely different quest I am not on. Follow them across a river, leads me to more clues and another Witcher fighting a vampire. We kill it and he turns out to be an old friend. Off on another side-adventure.

I'd love for a mod or patch that makes certain Hud Elements reactive. I don't want 15 minute long buffs on my screen so I turned off the buffs hud section but I'd have liked if it refreshed like every third or so so I know how long I have left (and maybe remained on screen for the last 20-30 seconds.

Or at least put them on the pause menu or something so I can check really quick.

I'm right at the same spot as you, but I've done the Cracht's kids sidequests. I'd play them before going back to Velen if I were you, they're really awesome too.

Arriving in Skillige was to me equivalent of walking out of the sewers in Oblivion and seeing the world when it came out. Mind blowing stuff.

This is probably really late, but what's the situation of editing a TW2 save to meet one's exact wishes? Google hasn't really given me what I want. I have one and a half completed saves of TW2 (somewhere, hopefully) and I'd like combine some choices between them without replaying the game. (BTW, I know you can do the Mass Effect thing where you make up some choices, but it doesn't go into the detail I'd like.)

And a single yes or no question: Has any TW1 decision surfaced in 3?

Cool. I wasn't planning on going back but compared to how slow things moved before that
especially figuring out Ciri was doing in Novigrad which took way waaaay longer.

Is there a time limit on
The Last Wish
? Game makes it sound like it does.

I feel like I'm just going through the motions when I play this game. There's nothing particularly fun about it. The quests are as mundane as they come, the movement and combat are awful, and even the interface needs a lot of work (inventory management is particularly troublesome). Don't get me wrong, I admire how large and detailed the world is, and the story isn't half bad, either, but the gameplay really seems to be lacking. I just can't see myself slogging through the 100 or so hours it takes to finish this behemoth, and that's not even counting the upcoming onslaught of DLC.

Overall, I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed by The Witcher 3. It's as beautiful as I thought it'd be, but nowhere near as fun.

Is there a way to increase the number of potions you get on each refill?
The 3 bottles of swallow are usually used up way too quick!

I have no clue, I'm wondering the same myself. lol Yennifer does make it sound like it's important to her. I'm guessing so yeah, a temporary sidequest sorta, gives you bonus point to make her happy or what not haha, more backstory maybe.

I agree that the skellige main quest was super short and disappointing compared to the branching mainquests with tons of characters in velen and novigrad, although the ciri section was really fun.
but maybe you get back to skellige later, I doin't know it's where I am right now.

I don't know if it makes a difference but when the village chief asked me to deal with the problem i picked the option that i already took care of it and when he asked me how i picked the option of not telling him that i freed the spirit. Good thing i didn't tell him because he turned out to be a worshipper of the Crones.

But even then... If you free the spirit before you meet the crones. Does he save the orphans or just goes away? If not, then its till not a perfect ending. If he does save the orphans then this is the best outcome of this quest. If not, its the same bittersweet situation.

The Witcher 3 is the first game since Baldurs Gate 2 to have comparably high quality side quests in an RPG. I'm glad it's happened, AAA wRPG's have been going in a bad way for a while, but The Witcher 3 just hit's it out of the Park.

I joined for Erin Brockovich discussion
Put off Skellige as long as I could, did alot of the larger missions (that I know of) in the Velen landmass.

Sweet Jeebus, did 5000 people work on this game?
