Anyone experiencing a bug where the innkeeper at Arinbjorn won't talk to them? Happened after "The Phantom of Eldberg" questline. I can't get his Gwent cards :(.

I guess to those who haven't done that quest, make sure to play him and buy his cards before initiating the quest.

I seriously don't get how people can play The Witcher 3 and still think that Geralt is emotionless.

Yeah, i'm not a fan of the VA because i've heard him being poor/monotonous in other games, but in TW3 CDPR managed to ellicit a good few moments of genuine emotion and drama out of him.

Well regardless about what you say about character choices and romance and stuff, Witchers are mutated to be emotionless with pretty much the same intention as Metal Gear soldier therapy to at the very least mute the emotions to heighten all battle senses and silence anything that would interfere with killing monsters.

But that is simply not true. They are SAID to be emotionless, common people believe it, even witchers themselves sometimes buy into that, but mutations aren't designed to kill their emotions. Even if we disregard Geralt, Eskel, Lambers and Vesemir pertty clearly feel a lot too.

Are your opponents human? Alt Axii their ass to oblivion

They are. I'm parrying perfectly, quen up for days, thunder bolt effect, etc.

I don't have Axii level 2 tree started up unfortunately. :(

Got frustrated. More so due to the long shit stain loading screens when I fail. I don't have the patience for that kind of shit.

Turned the game off. Will come back to it another time. Doesn't help if you back off from the swarm of angry fucks that more angry fucks come from upstairs or downstairs.

Boom! Bitch-slapped!
"sod off, arsemouth"

Sometimes trying to talk to strangers in the streets yields interesting results. Will be adding that little gem into my vocab along with whoreson and ploughin'

As someone who is about 1/4 of the way through the game and doesn't craft much apart from some armor, do I really need to hold onto all this shit in my inventory? I have keys, books and a fuckton of plants.

It weirds me out that Geralt and Witcher 2 Character Spoiler:
Letho.......
, follow the common notion that Witchers are mutated to be emotionless, especially Geralt because he's basically a super mutant among them, but it always feels like what we've seen of other Witchers have nowhere near that amount of lethargy.

Dont' know that is actually true though- In Blood of Elves Triss goes full blast on Geralt and the other Witchers in an amazing rant and basically calls the whole thing BS. Says it's a byproduct of their training and lifestyle and not something inherent in the mutagens they take.

I'm keen to read the books, but can someone explain to me how this Witcher mutation stuff works? It's the only part of the games' lore i know of where the writing just goes 'it's mutation' without any further explanation or depth.

Fuck the casino quest.

20 some dudes in a space the size of my fucking thumb...

Die? Enjoy 30+ second long ass loading screen.

I'm about to call it a wrap for a few days on Witcher 3. :/

Don't know what quest that is, but dodge and use Quen if you have issues dodging, otherwise use Igni or Yrden.

And what platform are you playing on? It's a 15 - 20 second loading screen on PS4 and I hear it's less on an average PC. Is Xbox One version that slow?

yes for keys and plants

if you already read the books you can throw them away if they are not part of a quest

Damn that
baron
quest. I was legit shook at
him hanging himself. Didnt see that coming. Such a tragic end. And what a great character arc. I felt as if I had lost a friend. And that scene. Just his body hanging there and swaying with the wind. Wow. Felt so poignant.
. Hats off, CDPR.

also, they don't really seem that emotionless...actually,I'm rpetty sure they are not..both geralt and
the other witchers in this game

So I just met with
Vernon Roche
(Witcher 2 character) and I'm surprised he is so nice to me, since I betrayed him in that game. Is the game not recognizing the choice I made back then or does it just not give a fuck?

You can find those basic oils all over the place it seems. I was missing hybrid oil for the longest time but I ended up finding it in a chest in some random bandit camp. My friend bought that same oil from a vendor.

I guess it will be complete luck, I already scoured every bandit camp in Velen. :p

The mutagens that witcher's take are a super secret recipe that involves magic as well. Young witchers take them in a ceremony called "Trial of the Grasses" and the ritual kills something like 70-90% of them. The ones that survive have the superhuman traits of the other witchers.

Unfortunately there was a massacre at Kaer Morhen many years ago and among the dead were anyone with the knowledge on how to create new mutagens. So now the remaining Witchers have a limited stock left with no way to replenish them. That's one of the reasons that there haven't been any new Witchers in some time.

One of the main plot threads of the first game was a raid on Kaer Morhen that was targeting the remaining supply of mutagen.

Who else is refusing to upgrade the starter armour because everything else looks terrible?

Just crafted the first Griffin set and the stats outdo the Warrior's Leather Jacket by a massive margin. More than twice the armour and better stats all round.

I found a mod that let's you reskin the master level Griffin with the WLJ skin, but until I hit master level I'll either have to wear armour that makes Geralt look like a clown or overweight, or gimp my stats for fashion.

The same mod as above has an enhanced WLJ option too, which I'm currently using (15 armour less than Griffin, but I can live with that for now. Can mod it to 90 armour when I hit level 11).

Transmog please, CDPR! I might look into modding myself and try to get this done.

If anyone's interested, the mod I'm using is here.

Roche
doesn't give a fuck even when you meet him in the third act of the Witcher 2. So yeah he doesn't care.

It seems, basically, that Vernon Roche route where you don't Triss yourself is canon in this game.

All of ya'all with your playtimes need to keep in mind that the playtimes for consoles are glitched and may show far more or less than the actual time.

Some of your playtimes really seem way too high.
Im at 111 hours, havent finished and I keep track of my play time manually, not via the in game counter.

Re asking this question:

Quest: The Sunstone

I found a locked chest in a side room and after scouring everywhere for about 30minutes i havent found a way to open it. Watched a few videos out of frustration and its like people dont even exolore during story missions.

Basically, the mutations and experiments they undergo as children give them super strength, regenerative healing, the use of signs, and the ability to handle the potions that would normally kill humans(only a few survive the process).

It also supposedly robs them of their humanity and emotions, and Geralt is mentioned as being uniquely immune to that side-effect. Though really that sort of thing is debatable since every WItcher is pretty personable and it may just be heresay. The greater populace looks at them as freaks and inhuman to be feared and despised though.

fuck me...this game is kinda ok. I got to Velen at 4 and after looking around a bit all the sidequests I found were all 7 upwards so I decided to do a story quest first this time.

did the whole bit with
Keira looking for Ciri and the Elven mage
, that was awesome but kinda frustrating at the same time. Dunno if I was just underleveled (4 and the quest recomended 6), im just shit (very possible) or the game, like the souls series, just handles multiple opponents like crap, but I died... a lot. Still finished it tho, and also the sidequest for the
magic lamp
.

now im level 6 so that opens up a lot more stuff I can more easily do. Im fighting the urge to drop down to normal, even tho in the quest I was dying alot I ran out of food and shit. but for now I havent dropped it.

also, Keira...oh Keira. What is it with Geralt and Mages man? :p

Roche has bigger things to worry about than something petty like that.

"Who cares about the Scoia'tael anymore?"

Don't forget that Roche helped you out back in chapter 2 even when you took Iorveth's path, I'm not so sure if he holds a grudge.

Also thanks. I need to read the books. I just hope they're well written. Got high standards for that stuff. I can barely read GoT.

Even on the Iorveth path in W2, Roche got over it in Act 3. He even helps rescue you and complete a major objective at one point. He sort of knew there was a larger goal at stake and didn't hold a grudge.

I am ready to sell this game, because all it is doing is just pissing me off.
I'm sick of getting shitty loot and good weapons being hard to come by. I'm level 6 and the best I can find is a level 2 sword.
Im sick of enemies dealing massive damage on you. Two hits kills on the second easiest difficulty is just unfair.
Tired of the crappy dodge mechanics where you often will get you backed into a corner and don't work fast enough to evade an enemy attack.
Sick of the ultra slow and crappy health regen system. This is honestly the worst part, because when enemies do attacks that deal massive damage, thanks to the target lock on, it's very difficult to create enough distance between you and the hard enemy to regen your health at a reasonable rate.
The target lock on is the worst ever.
Shirty control system. What in the goddamn fuck was CDPR thinking having the interact and run button as the same?

I am just so frustrated. I wanted a game that was easier after Bloodborne, but this game is actually quite a bit harder for me.

Haven't had a ton of time to sink into this game yet but I'm at a level 6 right now. Figured I'd ask for tips on how to handle inventory. I feel like you collect so much shit in this game and its hard to keep up with what I should use or sell. Can my armor be upgraded (I love the starting armor best, the new new shirt I'm wearing makes me look like a clown. lol)? Also, it took me forever to find the ingredients to craft my first bomb. Are there better ways to get bombs? can I buy them? any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just level 6? All of the great gear comes later, so be patient. This is a BIG game that wants you to play it. As for the difficulty... turn it down.

Get the Viper swords in White Orchard,or find some blacksmiths in Velen selling maps since you are almost level 7. Griffin gear is great.

To address some of these:
You have to craft good weapons or find them from quests. Enemies generally don't have weapons that are good for anything besides selling.
You control where you dodge so if you're getting backed into a corner it's your own fault. It sounds like you spamming dodge tbh. Button mashing won't help in this game.
Not sure how health regen works on lower difficulties, but you should be drinking potions to recover health. Use the quen sign to regen health without having to worry about getting hit.
Lock on sucks. I hardly ever use it.

IVe been doing every fucking side quest I can find and I don't get a fucking thing.

How do you turn off lock on? The game seems to force me into lock on.

A level 2 sword at level 6 isn't all that uncommon, I was using level 14 gear at level 22, it's not really a big problem you just have to play smarter.

Enemies do a lot of damage but you have a lot of things at your disposal. Use aard to knock em down and walk over and do a ground finisher on them. Use quen to deflect a few blows giving you time to roll away. Use Igni to burn em and cause em to stand still screaming trying to pout out flames while you whack em. Use Axii to incapacitate a dude for a few seconds while you either get a hit in or wail on the other guy.

Dodge works best when timed as the enemy is about to to attack.

The lock on is worthless and should never be used unless it's a 1v1.

Try making the potion swallow if you haven't already, that + a food item should give you some decent regeneration. It stops working for 2 seconds if you get hit though so make sure to keep quen up when you're imbibed with it.

The combat is easily the shittiest part of the game but it's by no means unplayable awful. You just have to play outside of its rules rather than by them.
