WTF. Doing Novigrad Dreaming and...

Says "examine the drawing". There is no drawing in my inventory, nothing I can see in the whole house through Witcher senses, and just nothing in general. No marker. What gives? Broken?

edit: nevermind I found it. I was not at the front of my inventory nor highlighted.

IVe been doing every fucking side quest I can find and I don't get a fucking thing.

How do you turn off lock on? The game seems to force me into lock on.

Don't click the stick to lock on. Position your camera and character to hit what you want.

You should've picked up a drawing in the house somewhere. You examine it in your inventory.

I am ready to sell this game, because all it is doing is just pissing me off.
I'm sick of getting shitty loot and good weapons being hard to come by. I'm level 6 and the best I can find is a level 2 sword.
Im sick of enemies dealing massive damage on you. Two hits kills on the second easiest difficulty is just unfair.
Tired of the crappy dodge mechanics where you often will get you backed into a corner and don't work fast enough to evade an enemy attack.
Sick of the ultra slow and crappy health regen system. This is honestly the worst part, because when enemies do attacks that deal massive damage, thanks to the target lock on, it's very difficult to create enough distance between you and the hard enemy to regen your health at a reasonable rate.
The target lock on is the worst ever.

I am just so frustrated. I wanted a game that was easier after Bloodborne, but this game is actually quite a bit harder for me.

the combat is clunky but not that hard..you are probably missing something (and i know that i've just piss you off more by telling you that)
general rules of the combat are
1)shield is your friend,use it,if it wears off,recast it
2)read the bestiary for weaknesses of the various enemies
3)learn how every beast behaves..drowners and nekkers attack relentlessly..don't blocck, keep distance, use agi to disperse them and attack them one by one
4)for regen of HP use swallow/eat food
5)targeting is shit, avoid it if you are not one vs one

for the loot..relic stuff are dropped by the more "unique" enemies..normal bandits have worthless pieces of iron with them...try the treasure hunts..especially the ones about the various upgradable witcher armors

Shirty control system. What in the goddamn fuck was CDPR thinking having the interact and run button as the same?

Lower the difficulty

Has anybody successfully transferred an Xbox one save to PC?

Thinking of getting it thru GOG too but I don't wanna go thru all the beginning junk again.

There are swords you can get in White Orchard, level 1 (I believe), that will be good till at least level 7-8. It's the
school of the viper set
.

And are you using potions? Swallow? Thunderbolt? How about signs like Quen?

You know what's something I think I've been taking for granted? But for people who have never played the witcher 1 or 2 and are less familiar with the signs, how obvious was it that you could use Aard to break walls and doors down?

That feel when you are trying to speak with someone, but instead extinguish a fucking flame.

That feel when you're trying to investigate a blood trail but you end up picking flowers.

So I just met with
Vernon Roche
(Witcher 2 character) and I'm surprised he is so nice to me, since I betrayed him in that game. Is the game not recognizing the choice I made back then or does it just not give a fuck?

Iirc, you can't actually betray him. You can choose the opposite path but he's still pretty Damn cool towards you.

he's asking how to NOT lock on. It'd be nice, since as soon as a monster is around you move like you're in molasses and if you try to run away it can be hard to.

Explore more. Do as many of the question marks as you can. You're bound to run in to awesome gear. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the level attached to the gear either. Viper Swords are the best weapons for the starter areas and are only level 2-3.

With the dodging, some enemies dodge immediately after you dodge, or can only be effectively dodged to the side instead of backwards. I'd also use Quen more (especially upgraded to blow enemies back on break), and Axxi (buy you time).

For quicker regen, just double up in two foods at the same time, or use a Swallow potion. But if you use Quen and dodge effectively, you won't need to heal much.

At 67 hours I'm finally ready to venture into Skellige. Decided to finish up the Witcher contracts I could before leaving.

Lookin' forward to it.

Also thanks. I need to read the books. I just hope they're well written. Got high standards for that stuff. I can barely read GoT.

What fantasy are you reading that's so much better than ASOIAF? I legitimately need good recommendations. SciFi is full of incredible, well-written stories, but I find it difficult to find equivalent fantasy works.

What game are you playing? This game unlike bloodborne has an abundance of loot, weapons and gear. I am swapping out new swords and gear so much I am getting a huge dent in my income because I must disenchant my old stuff to get the runes all the time. Also the excellent crafting system is always stacked with new gear recipes to look forward to as I level up.

Hard game? I am playing it on the hardest difficulty (Death March), and yeah it was kinda hard in the beginning, but now I am pretty much steam rolling it.
If you want an easy time upgrade Quen and your light attacks. With Quen you can activate a shield around you that heals when the enemy attacks. Always use the glossary to read about the enemy weaknesses. Go prepared into the fight with potions and oils etc...

About the target lock, try to play without it if you're fighting many enemies, it's much easier. I was also too used with target lock from Dark Souls/Bloodborne, but playing without it actually works really well. Save it when you're only fighting one guy.

Regenerating is completely turned off on higher difficulty, what you do is drink/eat or use potions like Swallow. You get it pretty early on. Also on easier difficulty the fastest tactic is to meditate for full health. Having Quen up makes life much easier on you in battles, so you don't have to heal so much.

This is by far the best RPG I've played in years.

Don't worry, I'm getting horrible level 5 weapons at level 13 for killing level 20 enemies guarding a treasure.

*shrugs* The loot is just awful in general. Stick to crafting for your weapon/armor needs.

The jank won't go away. Geralt is pretty awful to control outside of combat and in-combat, it's a bit better. The key is to learn when to roll in and when to back-step to maximize the hits you do, but that comes with experience. I'd just roll with Quen for the shield, and don't even bother locking on because the lock-on isn't very good.

If you think the controls/combat will improve drastically... they won't. You're better off selling it. But I think the janky combat/movement is serviceable enough to slog through for all the other things the game does great.

anyone else putting the game down until the xp bug patch is out? I'm 70 hours in, and it's killing me to have to put the game down.

You will get use to it. :D I only use dodge on large enemies, I sidestep only the small enemies even when outnumbered. Also, sidestepping also cancels out attacks, I've been using wolves and wild dogs as practice against multiple enemies and it works great. I even use sidestepping to close the gap on enemies now. Also, try to get the skill that gives you back health each time you chug any potion, shit is OP.

I've been playing on death march and having a shit ton of fun with the combat. Only enemy that gives me trouble are alghouls. Fuckers are annoying.

Even when I don't lock-on, I find the camera work to be quite excellent. To the point to where I don't even need to adjust it that much. You just have to give yourself, as well as the enemies room. Then know when to quick-step and when to roll instead.

Are there no blacksmiths/armourers in Novigrad?

I found one but I have to do a quest for him before he opens up shop. Is he the only one?

The only time I use lock-on is when I am facing a single enemy that is rather agile. (e.g., the one in 'Wild at Heart')

There's a couple near the main center area. They don't show up on the map for some reason unless you are near them though.

I didnt use suspend and resume, yet my playtime hours are messed up

Says 14, when I know it's half that

I guess that will be a permanent bug :(

Haven't had a ton of time to sink into this game yet but I'm at a level 6 right now. Figured I'd ask for tips on how to handle inventory. I feel like you collect so much shit in this game and its hard to keep up with what I should use or sell. Can my armor be upgraded (I love the starting armor best, the new new shirt I'm wearing makes me look like a clown. lol)? Also, it took me forever to find the ingredients to craft my first bomb. Are there better ways to get bombs? can I buy them? any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Anyone?

Another spoiler question: If I let
Triss
leave, I can't do the main quest later on in the game where i assassinate
Radovid
?

I am at a point to where I almost refuse to finish it. Luckily, there is still so much more to do and see that it makes my head spin.

I felt the same but then I kind of just went for it. The last chain quests covers the spectrum not just urgent bang-bang-bang so its a nice way to close out the game.

The game turned out so much better than I could have even hoped. 105 hours on the counter in the end and I wish I could go on. I don't know about how the game comes across to someone new to the series but as the end of a trilogy, I can't think of anything close. Just the way everything up until now was harnessed, familiar faces, progression of the world. Everyone has a part to play, it's beautiful seeing it in motion (late-ish spoiler)
damn near had a fangasm during the Battle of Kaer Morhen sequence
It's a shame that
Saskia
kind of just didn't exist but otherwise I think the game tied everything else together in an elegant manner.

I found the ending I got really satisfying as well. Right now I just feel really good about the game. Favourite thing from the ending is
They didn't pull that cutscene bullshit with Eredin. Kicked his ass fair and square and he died like he was supposed to. After all that had happened Geralt just dying would have seriously pissed me off. Geralt will live forever, in the woods somewhere with his waifu Yen.

The
spirit gives a perfectly good answer to this if you ask it - Nature doesn't care. Which makes perfect sense since you fight a bunch of wolves to get there, wolves don't care if you're a man/woman or a child, they will kill you to protect the tree

Yes, you can find them later on
*tree spirit spoilers* You know the more I think about it you are right. I actually went back to an older save to try and free it this time.
so what it comes down to is this tree spirit was one of those druid forest creatures before, protecting the swamp/forest I suppose. The book that everyone has been posting a screenshot of is lies. It actually does free the kids. The best overall outcome is releasing the tree spirit before starting the ladies of wood quest, that way the kids are free and the baron and his wife (which is still crazy but that can't be helped) go off to find a healer. Yeah that village gets hit but considering they would raise kids just to send them to their death with the crones... maybe they deserve it.

I really wish it wasn't so confusing to get this outcome. I originally killed the spirit first before starting ladies of the wood. Then a while later its like oh the kids are dead now because of that but you weren't given the slightest clue they would be related.

You can't upgrade your starting armor but later on you can have witcher gear crafted from different schools that can be. It took me a while to get ingredients for bombs too but at least after you make any they'll get replenished by alcohol when you meditate.
