I assume the baron quest does not lock you out of the witches quest, since both involve you finding ciri?

Is it possible to be over leveled for a quest and not be able to do it? I want clear out Velen of ?'s but I don't want to potential screw up quests in the in next area.

regarding the fist fighting tournament

cant fucking believe i had to fight a bear with my hands. Before going into the arena I thought "hur dur i bet it's a troll!" only for it to be a bear. What happened next? Fucking fist fought a troll.

Funny thing is I thought
the troll was easier than some of the human opponents
.

You will be able to finish the quests but if you're more than 5 levels over the requirement you won't get any XP. Also there is a point where the game will warn you that you need to finish all side quests before you start the next segment. You'll lose some unfinished side quests at that time but other than that you can do any quest at any time.

Great, thanks for the info.

The bug is only affecting my main quests, maybe try to get to some side content. I just spent all day clearing out the ? marks in Velen/Novigrad.

Speaking of the question marks, anybody know how to get to this one? Its on top of a mountain with a huge tree up there as well.

Last one I need and I'm starting to think it might be in the cave, but I searched in there as well.

You can't. You need to go from the village on the left, climb, there is a huge gate in the mountain. Locked. Probably a quest. Invisible walls all around the mountain top and the giant three.

Anyone know what the highest level of any quest is (not which quest specifically)? I ask because I have sword diagrams of level
43
or something, but haven't yet encountered a quest over level
35
. Wondering how far things will ramp up. I'm hoping there's some hard as nails top level stuff out there...

It's a place of power. I got to it by Skyrim'ing to the left of the giant locked door on the left side of the giant three. Try it out :)

Is this the place with some wraitch and a "bride-wraith"? If so, I think I'm stucked here too.
Did you do the
Keira mission? Because there you get a place of power underground, maybe it's the same, but I need to check that out.

It's a ruin and there were ghosts I had to kill. And yes, I did the quest and have the Item.

is it possible to remove a potion effect? Cat's eyes is annoying when not in a dark cave and enhanced lasts ages :/

but did you get the place of power and the guarded treasure during
Keira's
quest? its a bit out of the way during it

Is it in the mainline quest with
Keira
in the cave ?

holy christ this game is packed with content and so addicting.

dare i say this is the best open world rpg I've played. i think that moment hit me when the music started playing as I rode Roach through Skellig for the first time.

CD Projekt took a shit on bethesda and other devs with this one. immensely large world and yet the sidequests are still so good. not to mention the main quest

plus running into old friends like
thaler and vernon is awesome
. really makes this witcher series come together and feel like a breathing world with so many new and familiar characters.

Have anyone else encountered the super annoying "Magic Lamp objection bug"? It's when you do the task of using your Witcher sense to find the magic lamp, but it said you failed to do so in the objection list. I'm a completest, and I can't continue playing until they fix this! :(

Yes, its a potion you create called white honey, that clears all potion effects and brings your threshold back to zero.

The EXP thing is really grinding my gears. Finally I have time to play the game properly after a tough week at work, but am now sidelined as I can't get my EXP to budge when questing.

Quite frustrating. I hope CDPR resolves this asap. I need to play, dammit!

lol I had the same reaction "...but I DID use my witcher senses!".

Anyway, not all objectives are worth checkboxing just for the sake of it. You get some interesting things happening if you just decide to do something else.

I should get exp regardless if I'm way over the recommended level for a main quest right? Think I've got the exp bug *sigh

I think so, yeah.

I was getting a tiny bit bored of the combat, playing for the story and side quest content now really, so I decided to cheat a bit and now I get 25exp for every kill. Let's see if I can manage to become OP as fuck even on the higher difficulties.

Played another 2hrs today. I've only put 21hours into it and I'm not one to finish games in one or two sittings. Nearing level 7. Just done some of the main quess to advance the storyline. Really loving it so far. Looks like it's going to be a contender for GOTY with bloodborne and MGSV.

I'm normally not one to complain about these things, but
the dead whores in Whoreson Junior's mansion were a cheap way to paint him as evil.

Btw if anyone feels like making OT3 let me know. GAF's formatting issues are a headache :p

Edit: I think it's coming together into something usable, should be ready. Things to add to the (shorter) FAQ would be welcome.

Level 19, just got to Skellige.

Wow.

This game feels like CDPR had a meeting one day and basically decided to just try and make the best RPG ever. I'm not saying they succeeded but the passion and ambition that ooze from every corner of this game is almost overwhelming. It's impossible to not be impressed by the effort they put into this game.

If you're doing them for XP, you're doing them for the wrong reason.

Their value is in their stories and worldbuilding (and the occasional alchemy parts you pick up along the way) and the ways they affect the world.

Why even play the game at all?!

Joke post?

Seriously? It seems like there is an issue with balancing of XP distribution. You can play side quests for "world building" but I'm pretty sure that's not the only intended benefit (otherwise they wouldn't give XP at all. Some of them give quite a bit, some give almost none). Proper distribution of XP is important in the player feeling a sense of progression. Some long quests give very little, whereas "restore the abandoned village" always gives a nice chunk. Seems off to me.

I think the fact that there's an XP bug on some quests and some people haven't noticed it at all is sort of telling!

Finally won all Gwent cards from major players in Velen. Had trouble with 2 of them, but I kept on playing them until they got a bad deck drawn from them. I have lost so many close matches by just 1 point.

Monsters are OP.

I think it's bloody ridiculous they ask us to (romance)
choose an ultimatum with Triss when we've seen Yennifer for all of 5 minutes in a 70 hour game so far.
dont think I'm happy with what I've done but the last save I have is 5 hours back. Oh well.

The most difficult and frustrating part of the game (so far?) is that hidden treasure quest south of
Fyke Isle
. Geralt was so excited about drowning that he could do nothing but somersaults!

Question about Triss and Yen relationship (Spoilers for Now or Never and the Long live the king quests)
Told Triss I loved her, had the sex scene play out, and she went to Kaer Morhen (I believe), now I'm on The King is Dead quest, and I'm finally back to seeing Yen again, am I going to be locked out of any potential romantic entanglements with Yen and others? Mass Effect style, where you can't even pursue anything, or will I just face consequences down the road for committing to both?

Considering that
his henchmen hold on to his territory through violence and slapping around common people gave me early on good idea what kind dick he was. To me he was evil long before I even found him and saw his handiwork.

Potion, was it called Killer Whale?, that extends your vision and breath holding time while diving is so gud in Skellige areas.

I can't play another second of The Witcher 3 until they patch up this bug. I'm an completest! I honestly can't will myself to continue with a failure on my objective list. I always 100% all my Assassin's Creed and RPG games. a failure is a no-go for me. I can see on Witcher official forums, others are encountering this same problem. http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/38422-magic-lamp?p=1722596&posted=1#post1722596

in fact, there is also a youtube video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKtXo-fdqBE

So is it safe to say that this is the most graphically advanced game out now on any system?

There's actually nothing really graphically advanced about this game. It's probably the most beautiful game I've played all things considered, but there are definitely more technically impressive games out there.

For example. the game hardly uses any tessellation whatsoever. The PBR seems limited to only character models. The lighting.... isn't great. Compare that to something like Unity with it's amazingly gorgeous (albeit pre-baked) GI and it just looks flat. The water shader looks worse than quite a few games (like Black Flag, Watch Dogs, any CryEngine game) and there's practically no reflections at all.

Yep. It's dumb but it could maybe be fixed in the Enhanced Edition
Luckily it didn't really affect me. I would have done things the same way anyway.
