anyway..the loot in this game is useless as long as you keep your witcher gear updated...even tackling red skull quests you still get gear that doesn't compare to the griffin/feline/ursine stats

i grabbed everything and sold it if it didnt benefit me
got nearly 13k crowns atm and still in Novigrad

First time I tried signs I thought speccing into quen would be useful but I havent found that to be the case.
I find Quen is highly effective, but it's much more passive than the other signs obviously, so a lot less fun. It's definitely my bread and butter though, I don't enter any fight without the primary shield up and I re-add it as my first priority once it goes down. I also use the secondary for nearly all of my healing now. The only downside to it that I can see is that it's a lot less fun than setting dudes on fire, knocking them all on their ass, or watching them chop their buddy's arm off...

This is my first Witcher game so maybe I have the backstory wrong or mixed up, but I find it very hard to get over the fact that Triss used Geralt's amnesia in such a cynical way for her own personal advantage. It's unforgivable really.
While I understand and agree that what Triss did is pretty terrible, the fact is that she loves Geralt..she did not use him out of malice. It does not excuse her actions, but I cant really hate on her that much.
Still, Yennefer is The one, always has been.

It's not like she had to seduce him or tried to prevent him from regaining memory. She's in love and he's ceaselessly hitting on her. These characters tend to make mistakes, and as far as those go, this one seems only human.

I still think the most enjoyment I've gotten is exploring new places and PoI on the map, running into a monster 8-12 levels above me and grinding out a win

I kind of miss being a level 5 with everything out to kill me

so..how exactly one is supposed to play with the ursine armor?
i get the griffin armor being about signs
i get the feline armor being about high samina anfd flurry o attacks
but the ursine one?tried it one time and got my ass kicked by fodder...

Do whatever you want because most of the attack will do a tiny bit of damage.

it also gives you a bonus for adrenaline, which gives you bonus damage if they don't hit you and may allow you spam more signs.

Pesronal advantage? lol

"Establishing a normal romantic relationship between a man and a woman" is now a personal advantage?
It's not like she stole money from him.

Establishing romantic relationship with love of your best friends life because he does not remember her and deliberately not even mentioning her is pretty bad.

Someone please tell me the patch is out on the Xbox One now, I haven't played the game for almost 10 days because of the XP bug.

well,in the itcher 2 geralt remember yen exist and still don't care because as long as he doesn't have his memories, she is nothing to him..so even if she mentioned yen, nothing would have change.
the big difference is that here geralt have almost all his memories back..so he has to choose between his past with yen and the two-game srelationship with triss

you could've beaten the game twice during that time.

If you're going into the signs tree I wouldn't bother with explosive shield on quen or boosting its intensity. No matter what it seems to break in one hit.

that's why you just reapply it after it wears out.

I did always have a lot of trouble with the narrative putting Triss and Geralt together in the first two games. I do like Triss, but I've always been pretty uncomfortable with the aspect of Geralt's amnesia.

Really, though, The Witcher has a weird relationship issues between Geralt and his leading ladies. Geralt binds him and Yen together via a genie (which, unless I haven't gotten up to that point in the game, he wouldn't have asked her permission first), and Triss took advantage of a man with amnesia. Yen loves Geralt, but she'll use him, too, if she needs. At least they all adore Ciri.

I do love me some Yen, though.

Speaking of sorceresses taking advantage of Geralt.

Keira pls.

I kinda like Keira, she's
afraid of rats but had no issues with spectres. Shame she played Geralt like a chump.

Yeah, but I feel like that's the reward for upgrading your witcher gear. If the loot you found was better than the witcher gear, no one would be using the crafting system. I get what you mean though.

Got almost twice that and also still in Novigrad ;b You'll get even richer.

He doesn't remember anything. They started from zero, and it isn't like Triss raped him.

What would the point of mentioning Yennefer? From what Triss know, around Witcher 1, several years have passed since the end of the books, and Yen is a) dead or b) in another world. For all intents and purposes she is out of the equation. And it isn't like Geralt is going to feel anything for Yen just for hearing he was before in a relation with someone.

Would Triss have to respect Yen's feelings, even if she is in love with Geralt? Her love is any lesser than Yen's?

I hate how you can't just pass one turn in Gwent. It makes trying to win a round with the fewest amount of cards expended a pain in the ass.

Did you miss the part where
the entire thing is a set-up to get information about the tower from Geralt, and where she cast a sleeping spell on him so that she can get to the tower and grab the research notes
edit: nvm got confused.

It's just part of the rules. You can use this too your advantage too, play some "trash" cards and force your opponent to either pass or waste cards
has quen always been in the witcher games and worked the same way? it kind of makes the combat too easy.
it was useless in the first game, and even more overpowered in the second

God damn it Sasha. Had the game done, ahead by like 50. Her last card was a spy, she had played scorch twice already btw. She gets another scorch and kills my double catapult. Last round she wins because neither of us has cards beecause fuck you Nilfgaard deck.

drop yrden, bait an attack, two swings, dodge back, she should attack, rinse repeat.

No need for that much effort. I had huge trouble with Jenny until I realized I could use Moon bombs. Then it went: moon bomb, go to town with sword, moon bomb, finish with couple more swings. It's like a 10-15 second fight like that.

I am not really sure how to use the DLC? Is there an OFF / ON button for skins?
What about the particular items ,in that case the crossbow and the Nifgaardian Armor?

35 hours in and I've reached Oxenfurt. This is where I'll base myself now but probably not for too long. Got myself a nice new haircut and played some Gwent upon arrival. I'm level 13 right now. Still haven't
visited Triss
or got
a boat to Skellige
. Those are the only two main story quests I have at the moment. I'm working on secondary quests, contracts and treasure hunts for now before going to
find Triss
.

Any idea of how far I have left to go? Just need an idea of how much of the story I've done and how many more hours it'll take.

I think I'm coming up on the end, is there a post-game where I can finish off the last couple of contracts or should I do that first?

:lol It'll take you forever to beat the game at this rate.

Wait what? You can't
search for the prize money so you can keep the whole pot
in High Stakes. Quest just ends there if you refuse Sasha.

That's messed up. I need those coins to fuel my rune habit.

Come on. Really ?
Triss had no idea where Yen was. If Geralt came back, she must have suspected Yen could be back too. Yen and Triss are good, if not best, friends, with their point of conflict being Geralt. Triss knows Geralt has always loved Yen. But hey, now he does not remember her, so what ? He is mine !
Who cares that they have 20 year history, partially raised a daughter together and after enduring hardcore hardships finally got together? She is gone, he has no memory of her, I will make him mine !

As I said, I cant be too angry at Triss because she loves Geralt and unrequited love sucks.
But its still shitty from her.

And I completely understand Yen throwing out that bed :p

Ah, thats the ending I got. I thought it was the best personally.

I'm guessing you got the ending
where she decides to become the empress?

That's right.
particularly liked the ending text that suggested she'd be an excellent leader because she wedded Emhyr's political savvy with Geralt's basic human decency. That really is how I tried to play Geralt, including in my interactions with Ciri, and it was bittersweet that Geralt was robbed of his adopted child's companionship due in part to his in stilling in her decency and confidence in making her own choices

I feel like triss made up for it by risking her life to help Geralt get his memory back and clear his name in W2.

Still a shame Geralt hasn't got a house or something. Where he can put his trophies and other gear.

Well I guess that should be easily fixable due to DLC. I also hope they introduce housing in some kind of way. Loved it in Skyrim really.

I too enjoyed the
Empress
ending compared to the others. It made a lot of sense to me. Still, Im
glad this game has multiple endings that appeases of what the player thinks Ciri should become.

Witchers are nomad wondering people who need travel village to village for work. Having a house makes zero sense, they only meet at winter in Kaer Morhen but sometimes even then they don't all go.
