I thought why not and tried to go after some of the question marks on some tiny islands in Skellige (and some of them in the water). Yeah no. Took like an hour to do a portion that's like 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000001% of the map. I'll just stick to the mainland sections.
Just went to Triss with that statue you can buy from some NPC, freed the guy that was trapped in the statue and he mentioned some sorceress named Coral, then the quest ended. Is there a follow-up to that or is that all we hear of Coral in the game? Never even heard the name during my first playthrough.
It's one of the main characters in the newest book, Sezon Burz (Season of Storms) that is a prequel to all the Witcher stories and isn't available in English yet. She's one of the more interesting sorceresses in the universe.
Imagine how bossy Yennefer can be, and swap the bossiness with being bossy and batshit crazy at the same time, but in a good, fun way, and you get Coral (her real name's Lytta Neyd)
Source: my bookshelf.
I'm playing through the game a second time and doing all the sidequests now. Just finished the whole side-quest in Novigrad involving Dandelion's
and Priscilla's little business
and was amazed and genuinely shocked at the same time, especially at what that son of a bitch did to
Priscilla. Her voice when you try to talk to her after she wakes up... Damn.
. Good thing I cut him into little pieces.
This game. A seemingly not important sidequests has turned into one of the best quests I've finished in any game.
It's just in Crow's Perch, with the merchant. No Man's Land is just another name for the region. Not hard to find, but the names can be confusing a bit. In my opinion it beats DLC that is just given to you or automatically put right under your nose.
I actually like how the armors are sold by contextual merchants. It makes sense that the recently-sacked White Orchard would have Temerian Armor pulled off some dead soldier, and similarly, the Baron (who is in cohoots with Nilfgaard) would be likely to have access to some of their gear.

I am restarting and I killed the tree spirit the 1st time, but I heard you can save the children and the wife if you free the spirit before you get the quest? Does that mean Baron and his wife come back to Crows Perch and the children are protected? Or does the wife still have a mental breakdown and Baron takes her to a healer? Is there only two endings because some people make it seem like there's a third?
Haha, right? Gee thanks guy for your awesome family heritage sword I'm going to go have it broken down into parts to maybe I can make something actually useful with it one day.
And also, I'm a master blacksmith thank you for helping me out, let me craft an unbeatable weapon for you. Gee thanks for the crappy generic sword that's a few levels below me, and the level for your quest was way above me.

It is, and that's probably my biggest gripe with the game. Once you start crafting Witcher gear, anything you might find while exploring is only useful to sell or deconstruct.

i tried doing this yesterday, they are dead in my game. I free'd the spirit before I met the Crones or the Baron, but they didn't appear at the orphanage where they should be if they live. The only thing I can think of, is meet the children then go free the tree spirit before the Crones ask you to kill it, but I don't think it'd work.

One of mine as well. The weapon system is pretty rewarding though, 2 or 3 slot relic swords almost always tend better than the Witcher swords, and I find myself changing those out frequently enough.

I don't know, I've frequenly put my Witcher gear "on hold" when I find a good temporary upgrade. It's good for when you're between levels - like right now I'm level 13 and can't wear the upgraded Griffon set yet, so I switched to a Bounty Hunter's chest piece that I found.
Am I able to share play someone to play through gwent for me? I don't have much time with work so I want to keep playing as Geralt rather than playing the card game.
Okay, so I'm currently doing the Cat school quest (the first one) and I'm in the cave behind Novigrad and all of a sudden Geralt is walking as if he is in a small house (that slow walk where you hold the button to run). Is this supposed to be like this or is it some kind of bug?

I really love how this game doesn't pull the whole "have your cake and eat it too" thing with quests. Too often in RPGs there is a "hidden" (ie; extremely easy to find) way to please everyone and neatly tie up everything. This is so much better....

Yup, I do. It's been like that since the first night I played the game. Still not fixed, jus tells me to read the letter. I've read every letter multiple times.
It was weird wording I was curious too. They meant to say that they recorded 16 hours of motion cap of it. But funny enough a lot of the shit in the game is recycled so it seems they boiled down those 16 hours to like a few minutes.
I entered the tournament after defeating all of the "main" Gwent players, which meant that almost half of my deck were hero cards. Needless to say, I steamrolled though the entire tournament. CDPR should've put restrictions on the amount of hero cards you can have in your deck.
Yeah I had like 9 hero cards in every deck when I entered. The tournament was pretty easy. The first guy you face with all the spies was annoying, but it was a cakewalk after that.
Trophies can't be turned in except for quest as proof of a kill.
Then you get to keep the trophy.
Sell them off.

Are the DLC crossbows available from the Quartermaster at Crow's Perch, or somewhere else?
It's a shame that the DLC stuff doesn't scale with you - to me it would make much more sense if the vendor always had a set in stock at your current level (or one or two levels below if that was better for balance).
Are you on GOG Galaxy? Because you have to separately install the DLC via the "Configure" tab in Galaxy. It's not enough just to download it. I thought it was kind of non-obvious myself.

when a quest is completed, the quest log entry fills with developer made text explaining the resolution of the quest and epilogue to the relevant storylines. This developer made text is divorced from the game world, and is almost its own fiction as the game world does not reflect the quest completed text.
is that correct?
I haven't played witcher 3 in a few weeks, but i noticed this at white orchard alchemist, early quest "death's bed". After finishing the quest, this text appeared in the quest log.
"The witcher decided to help Lena. Geralt then left White Orchard before he could learn the results of the risky treatment he applied. Soon afterwards, while visiting the Nilfgaardian garrison in Velen, he learned the woman had survived. The imperial infantryman with whom she was to meet the ill-fated evening of the griffin's attack had brought her to a nearby village. Sadly, none of this denoted a happy ending. Though the wounds on Lena's body had healed, the toxins in the witcher's brew had melted her mind. This was not the first time a cure had proven worse than the disease.
I hadn't left white orchard yet.. like all this was made up. a really annoying something i noticed. I look forward to going back into this game world, I'm not interested in these text resolutions though subverting my player experienced resolutions.
Dumb question but did you actually download them? They aren't automatic downloads, and you have to manually go to the Xb / PSN store (if you're playing on console)
If so, I think Tamerian armor is in White Orchard, where the merchant is near the bridge. I think you can also get any of the DLC at Crow's perch, the quartermaster.

The quests logs are narrated by Dandelion so they are in-world. Like the loading screens it's a much older Dandelion narrating the events so he can fill in additional details that take place outside of the time shown in the game.

Holy shit. Arriving at the Skellige Isles blew my mind. It was the exact same feeling I had arriving in Mexico in RDR.
The soundtrack is beautiful at that part of the game. Running to the top of a mountain and looking out into the wilderness with that music playing, realizing I'm not even through the first part of the game yet with all this land still left undiscovered...
I gotta know: how cost-effective are monster contracts in Witcher 3?
I'm still in the middle of a Witcher 2 replay, and in both this and the first game the expenses of some of the monster contracts basically guarantee you a net loss on the contract itself. Sometimes you get lucky and run into a diagram or crafting material or book you might need to do a contract. Other times though a contract will pay 200 gold, but the book or diagram you need will cost 400 or 201 orens, then some other equipment you need might cost another 150.
Has anyone ever managed to really negotiate a decent increase in a contract reward? Seems like anything over maybe 10 additional coins always results in the NPC getting angry. Some of the negotiation sliders show you can try for hundreds of extra coins... how is that ever possible? Perhaps I'm doing it wrong but I've tried a modest increase for the first go and then slowly lower it back down but usually I'm only a few over the starting value by the time they agree.
And why doesn't Geralt bust out some Axii mind tricks during these negotiations??
