The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

Has anyone ever managed to really negotiate a decent increase in a contract reward? Seems like anything over maybe 10 additional coins always results in the NPC getting angry. Some of the negotiation sliders show you can try for hundreds of extra coins... how is that ever possible? Perhaps I'm doing it wrong but I've tried a modest increase for the first go and then slowly lower it back down but usually I'm only a few over the starting value by the time they agree.

And why doesn't Geralt bust out some Axii mind tricks during these negotiations??

Geralt's not a monster so he won't scam people into paying what they don't have. And if someone caught him doing that he'd be run out of town.

I haven't tried it, but I wonder if the annoyance mechanic is a red herring. What if a contract-giver will accept a higher payout if Geralt holds to his fee, because they're desperate to have it solved? I'll have to try it on a wealthy-looking NPC some time. It'd be a really cool touch, honestly.

Some negotiation can go a little higher than others.
I usually start at 40-50%, the NPC usually refuse my first offer. Depending on his/her annoyance level, I reduce the amount by 10 or perhaps 25. 25% is usually the perfect spot.

Maxing an annoyance makes you accept the minimum.

when a quest is completed, the quest log entry fills with developer made text explaining the resolution of the quest and epilogue to the relevant storylines. This developer made text is divorced from the game world, and is almost its own fiction as the game world does not reflect the quest completed text.

is that correct?

I haven't played witcher 3 in a few weeks, but i noticed this at white orchard alchemist, early quest "death's bed". After finishing the quest, this text appeared in the quest log.

"The witcher decided to help Lena. Geralt then left White Orchard before he could learn the results of the risky treatment he applied. Soon afterwards, while visiting the Nilfgaardian garrison in Velen, he learned the woman had survived. The imperial infantryman with whom she was to meet the ill-fated evening of the griffin's attack had brought her to a nearby village. Sadly, none of this denoted a happy ending. Though the wounds on Lena's body had healed, the toxins in the witcher's brew had melted her mind. This was not the first time a cure had proven worse than the disease.

I hadn't left white orchard yet.. like all this was made up. a really annoying something i noticed. I look forward to going back into this game world, I'm not interested in these text resolutions though subverting my player experienced resolutions.

that's all lol
I think that is just a bug. In terms of that quest, and how it plays out (small potential spoilers for that tiny quest line):
Lena just stays on that bed for as long as you remain in White Orchard. If you progress the story and leave White Orchard, and then return, you'll find the bed empty. If you talk to the herbalist she'll say that Nilfgaardian soldiers took her away. In Velen, if you go to the big Nilfgaardian staging area in the SE you'll randomly meet the soldier who's referenced in that quest log you read, and he recounts the story pretty much exactly as it appears in that log. In this case the bug just seems to be the quest log being slightly ahead of where you're actually up to in the (tiny) quest.

Does anyone know if the runes in swords are bugged? Just put a rune into my steel sword that has like 5% chance of burning. "Problem" is that those 5% seems to occur everytime I hit someone. Playing on PC with latest patch.

It seems like they have a cap. Most I've ever squeezed out was an extra 50.

The reason Geralt doesn't just use axii is because of he was going around brainwashing people, robbing them blind they'd catch on eventually.

If New Game+ is indeed coming as a DLC I wish CDPR would have been upfront about it from the beginning. It would alter my entire approach to quests and therefore leveling. I would have deliberately pushed a fair number of sidequests into a second playthrough.

I'm a lurker and almost never post, but I fell like I have to in order to tell you this. This game sucked me in so much I decided to buy the first book, The Last Wish. This book is so good. Its a collection of short stories about Geralt's adventures. The stories have a very similar feel to the side quests in the game. Really recommend it. One of the stories I really enjoyed was "A Question of Price." Its about how
Geralt and (I assume) Ciri become linked to each other
.

Now read the rest of the books! Sword of Destiny is similar to The Last Wish. It's a collection of short stories too. I think I enjoyed it a smidgen more than The Last Wish, actually. Then the Saga begins! If you make it to Blood of Elves be sure to give it a real good chance. It's kind of slow, but the saga gets amazingly good during Time of Contempt and beyond.

Good god, I wish the game would be give me a fucking chance to upgrade my weapons after the battle.

All these linear sequences....

Finally got through with the battle at Kaer Morhen. Was I supposed to get an achievement for finishing it? Just wondering if my game bugged out and didn't reward me with one.

And speaking of the battle, whole damn damn thing was epic as hell but
poor Vesemir. :(

It annoys me greatly that you can't remove runes or glyphs without destroying either the item or the runes. Don't want to dismantle my Enhanced Witcher gear and weapons (otherwise I have to re-craft them multiple times), but don't want to lose all the greater glyphs etc attached to them either. But I've got weapons better than the Witcher set right now....

I really wish people would be a little more conscious of what constitutes spoiler tags/what doesn't. I am pretty close to bailing on this thread because I keep seeing shit that I shouldn't be seeing.

Just finished at 91 and a half hours. Fantastic game. Did every quest I found barring two witcher contracts and a quest from a druid that showed the "!" on the map and his head but wouldn't give it to me (not the master alchemist, the other druid).

Really liked the ending I got (ending spoilers, duh)
Geralt told Emyhr that Ciri was dead, got her a nice new silver blade inscribed with swallow in elven, they went on to witcher for a bit before seperating and she became renowned. Geralt then moved somewhere and settled down with Yen. Nilfgaard took over the north because I killed Radovid (crazy king wanting to burn everyone different, then tried to kill me after "giving" him Phillipa. Had to kill Dykstra because I wasn't about to let my Temeria bros die. At least Roche got Temeria back. Just sucks about Nilfgard getting the north but makes sense as I helped kill the king of Redania and it's possible replacement.

One quest I absolutely loved (again, end game spoilers)
was the one where you travel through different worlds. I love seeing alien planets/dimensions in fantasy games. Even when you just get tiny snippets my mind just goes crazy thinking of stuff that happened there.

Definitely feel this was the best entry in the series. It's nice to have a series where the first one is the worst and they got better and better. The first is still great but has tons of euro jank and lizard people looking models.

I guess now I begin my deep dive into Gwent?

I'd love if there was another Witcher game but I don't know what they'll do from here. It's obviously a success which means sequels but (end game spoilers etc)
Geralt has run his course (unless they want to invalidate some endings?) They could set a game during/before some of the books. Could go off of Geralt and onto another school.

Obvious choice would be have Ciri be the next protagonist. A great character with endless possibilities ahead of her. Easy enough to tone her power level down, either you go with some magic ritual that strips her of the elder blood, you say that stopping the cold stripped her of the power or you have her not use it, use very limited amounts, due to not wanting to get found out and word travelling back to Emyrh.

Though then you have to put up with world states and whether Nilfgard won or lost the north (I'm assuming they can lose). Could always set it far away in Zerikania or somewhere where Geralt hasn't influenced the political tide.

one thing I didnt like, and this might be my old man memory, I admit to barely remembering Witcher 1 and 2, but the game felt more like Witcher 5 and I somehow missed Witchers 3 and 4 along the way.

Its not just the whole Ciri thing, but a bunch of these Sorceresses and characters that Geralt talks to as if he (and by proxi we) know for past adventures and im like "who are you again?"

again, maybe its my shit memory, but it feels it hangs on people knowing the books a bit too much
Game feels like a love letter to the books, and that's totally fine, in fact , I love it!

Can someone tell me if I screwed myself out of a quest? Quest titled The Nobleman Statuette involving Triss.
So I encountered a merchant who sold me some weird statue and I'm supposed to show it to Triss
but I can't because
Triss went away on a boat with 30 other mages. The game doesn't say I failed the statuette quest but there is no longer a map marker for it since Triss is gone. Will I see her again later and be able to do this quest?

I sold my ursine armor set so it would be available for me to wear it once I reached the level and its fucking gone.

GOD i have never played a game where the developers just absolutely fucked up the little things so bad.

The simple thing would have been to provide a storage for loot that all RPGs provide, but no the goddamn developers had not provide it for some stupid reason.

Once I am done I am not sure I will ever return to it. The hassles just aren't worth it.

you can drop loot anywhere in the world and it will stay there no matter how far into the game you are.

Speaking of Caberet..

Was there ever any followup for P
riscilla? After that quest she just disappeared, I understand that she's recovering, but for her not to appear for the rest of the game for me was a bit of a downer, Dandelion popped up here and there.

I think the damn XP is still present in spite of patching. I just did Possession, King's Gambit, and Coronation all in a row and got zero XP for any of it. All quests within my level range what the hell gives.

Still, I'm glad to see
Cerys queen. It's not possible to sleep with her, is it?

Guys I wanna check something, where can I find the cave Ciri
Fought the King of wolves
in Velen?

I wanna see if there was something there... =D

Aha! I knew I was holding onto unique-sounding junk for a reason! You can totally give the "useless" halfling painting to Dandelion and get a few lines of dialogue out of it.

Now to find a use for this "rare fossil" or whatever it was called...

This is why the game is overrated and doesn't deserve all the praise and success. Can't have sex with the best waifu!

Question. I have the "Ibrahim Savi's first map" that's supposed to lead to the Ursine armor. However, I'm not getting any quest pop ups.... I also haven't visited the Islands yet, is that why?

There's a bug where the first map won't start the quest, no matter where you are. It is located in Skellege, but if you look up the locations of the armor recipes elsewhere and just go to them, finding one will jumpstart the quest for you.

Maybe look at the right side screen before crafting stuff. It very clearly tells you what level you need be so don't craft shit you can't use. Plus you can craft anything multiple times it not a one off craft

this game just keeps surprising and wowing me, holy crap.

end-game spoilers, just got to the part
during Final Preparations where you travel between different worlds. the amount of work and creativity is incredible.

oh yeah, i have a question, why does the leadership of the Wild Hunt
seem to mainly consist of Elves?

Enchanted Feline Chest piece has be best looking piece in game. A fly looking blue sweater with a leather chest piece perfect for a walk in Skellige
agreed. it gets too fancy looking after upgrading it even further.
