The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT3| Metz Some Ploughing Good Ladies In the Forest

Patch 1.08 Notes

PERFORMANCE:
Overall improvements to performance, including some issues that may have been caused by 1.07.

UI:
[Japanese Only][PS4 Only] Fixes an issue where the background text of certain books would flicker.
Fixes an issue where part of the Kaer Morhen map would not display properly.

GAMEPLAY:
Fixes a rare issue where items would disappear from the stash.
Fixes a very rare issue which would cause Geralt to get stuck when trying to run.
The interaction pop-up will no longer appear on lootable objects that are empty.
Fixes an occasional glitch in one of the dwarf combat animations.
Heads chopped off during finishers will no longer disappear.
"Players can perform a roll just before landing to significantly reduce the damage caused by falling.
We've added a tutorial pop-up window explaining this to make it clearer."
In patch 1.07, the level requirements for certain items were scaled up, leaving some players stuck with only unusable gear. With patch 1.08, we are introducing the Wolven Hour potion. This potion will be available in everyone's inventory once they install the patch. It will reduce level requirements on all gear for a period of one hour. This will give players time to level up or find alternative equipment using the gear that was available to them in patch 1.05 but became unusable after patch 1.07. After one hour, the potion's effects will cease and the requirements for all gear will revert to their original, pre-potion values.
Fixes an issue where players were unable to compare their items with ones sold by merchants.

ACHIEVEMENTS:
Players will now be able to complete the Card Collector achievement.
Achievements are now working properly again and will be unlocked if players meet their requirements after installing this patch (PC version).

GRAPHICS:
Fixes an issue where interiors would sometimes not display properly on the minimap.
Fixes an issue where certain world elements would sometimes be missing and noticeable visual glitches would be present while in Novigrad.

QUEST:
Fixes an issue where players were unable to finish the "It Takes Three to Tango" quest, even though they had obtained wine at the Kingfisher.
Fixes an issue where Geralt would sometimes die after traveling to Velen in the quest "Something Ends, Something Begins."
The entrance to the area where the Sunstone is obtained will no longer be blocked off if the player exits it prematurely during "The Sunstone" quest.
Fixes an issue where players were unable to complete the "Get Junior" quest on certain occasions.
Fixes an issue where players were unable to finish the "Scavenger Hunt: Viper School Gear" quest due to a closed gate.
Fixes an issue where some players were unable to investigate rooms during the "Family Matters" quest, effectively blocking their progression.
Fixes an issue where players were unable to finish the "Hey, You Wanna Look at my Stuff?" quest.
Fixes an issue where players were unable to talk to Roche during the "An Eye for an Eye" quest.
Fixes an issue where Roche would stay at his camp instead of going to the Oxenfurt Bridge in the "Get Junior" quest.
Fixes an issue where, under certain circumstances, Yennefer would not appear in Oxenfurt during the "The Great Escape" quest.
Drowners will have a harder time killing Nidas during the "Black Pearl" quest.
Fixes an issue which led to an infinite loading screen during the "To Bait a Forktail..." quest under certain circumstances.
Fixes a rare issue where the basement was locked during the "King's Gambit" quest.
Fixes an issue where players were unable to free the merchant during the Person in Distress event in the Claywich area.
The trolls at the Circle of Elements will no longer attack Geralt if he opts for a peaceful resolution.
Fixes an issue where players were unable to talk to Roche during the "Brothers in Arms" quest.
Fixes an issue where Zoltan's card was unobtainable.

GENERAL:
Preparatory features paving the way for the introduction of New Game + in the future.

Nothing about The Price of Honor chest bug. :-\

I'm at the Isle of Mists quest and when I arrived at some waypoint, it said that some sidequests will no longer be available. Is there a list somewhere in order to check what I may have missed?

I'm kind of bummed about the achievements not popping retroactively. Realistically the only one I'll miss due to this bug is the Screecher achievement, since I have a save right before finishing the Keira questline so I can get that one to pop pretty easily.

" Wow, wow, wow. Stop flexing there you're gonna make me nervous."

This damn game, makes me smile everytime I play it :D .. the banter is awesome.

The game is amazing but I have a different question. Since I have not played witcher 2 and I do not own an 360, do you think it will be possible that witcher 2 will be backwards compatible eventually?

Wait a minute. About the ending:
i read on here (on accident) if you say I love you to triss and yen you ended up with triss. My ending has Yen as the person Geralt ends up with. Which is fine and makes the most sense. But I thought that was good since I didn't really play wanting triss.

I've heard that if you encounter the Wh
ispering Hillock
before visiting the Crones you can change the ending of the Bloody Baron quest arc.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THIS WHOLE QUESTLINE. DONT READ UNLESS FINISHED GAME or BARON's STORY!!
If you free the spirit before visiting the crones they won't harm Anna and you can get the Baron lives ending while also sparing the orphans. Downwarren still gets destroyed

Does anyone know if this is the case?

Because of details like this (and many, many other things :) ) - BTW I don't know why nobody is talking about the massive amount of detail put into random NPCs and their animations (there are so many and so many of them unique) - the game is so awesome

probably because they all have the same face

the fact they're all doing their things brings this game alive, reminds me of Shenmue

The feeling of living world is something most appreciate when posting about the game. The lighting, subtle cloud cover movement and weather, animations and acting. Comes together in a special way that static screenshots can't convey.

Speaking of NPCs, this child I think has my favorite little outfit in the game.

I think I might be okay with this. Somebody able to test this out? I'm still waiting for NG+

Nope. In terms of the ending, if you
tell both of them that you love them, then you end up alone.

So I just got to Skellige... How long do I have til the ending.. And mind you I'm one to try and do all the side quests and points on the map as much as I can before progressing the actual story. So I still have a lot of stuff to do in Novigrad and Velen.. I just proceeded to Skellige to finish Follow the Thread quest

You still have a long ways to go, especially if you're the type to check out everything there is to offer.

Fuck those goddamn wraiths on Deathmarch. Seriously fuck those goddamn pieces of shit to hell.

Such cheap mutherfuckers. Stupid baron botchling section is so fucking hard. Trying to switch back and forth between quen and yrden and trying to create enough distance so that they don't hit you from behind AND deal with a time limit to prevent the botchling from going crazy.

What else?

No fucking checkpoints between encounters.

Fucking shit man.

The lighthouse contract in Skellige, what a quest.
It itself had great atmosphere, and then I did not expect to be put in jail and continue with the Cave of Dreams with Eredin which was kind of epic.

I've finished the Long Live the King main quest, deep into Skellige sidequests and contracts now and I'm wondering if I'll even finish the game by the end of the summer (started at launch).

Ignore Quen, just stick with Yrden. Use specter oil and just dodge a lot. That's a pretty tough fight and it's a lot of luck so just keep at it.

I got it and as you said, its a lot of luck. I had to just resort to button mashing. I would get one caught in Yrden and just go to town on them and hope for the best.

Finally worked. Man that fight sucked.

I came on here to complain about the Black Pearl quest but I see people already have that covered. Dude got wrecked as soon as I hit shore so I decided I had better things to do.

Just finished it and the Novigrad quest line is awful. Seriously so much talking for such little pay off. The Bloody Baron didn't really make me feel anything but at least there was some variety there. Yeesh. It didn't help that I was at the point where it was grayed out so I could end all the combat encounters in a matter of seconds. Of course I now need to rush the few remaining Novigrad side quests before they get grayed out too.

Also the second Triss quest is like the perfect example of how open worlds harm game narratives. No tension or build up, it just kind of happens when you get around to it.

Level 7.

Finally finished it. Such bullcrap was that fight.

For some reason that was easier for me on Death March than it was on Blood and Broken Bones. On DM, I only died once (where you escort the Baron while he's holding the thing). On B&BB, I died a good 10 times, rage quit, woke up the next day, and tried again. Still couldn't do it, so I went to go do other quests to level up some. Got some better gear, and finally won.

Honestly, on Deathmarch the only things that have been very frustrating are wraiths in small areas. Rage inducing frustrating.
Ideally you want to face them in open areas so you have room to retreat, but in a few of the dungeons you have no choice but to face several of them in tight quarters.

However, AARD has been my defacto sign that has made difficult parts much easier and can make human encounters pretty damn easy.

Thats my problem with witcher combat is that its simply not very good in tight quarters.

Fuck this Black Pearl sidequest the quest giver keeps fucking dying this is the worst game ever and I hate it.

Also, greyed-out sidequests are stressing me out.

Great game.

Hey to do the Black Pearl sidequest dive for the pearl BEFORE talking to the quest giver. This will cause the drowners to spawn right next to you, and you can knock them down with aard and finish them off.

He still dies in one hit so make sure to quick save.

it's those kind of surprise that really makes witcher 3 great .

BUt i hated the way i had no way to avoid that guy
death
, such a cheap narrative device CD project. In 95 hours i never tripped like that , especially against humans.

That quest actually forced me to reload my save game as
I got shocked that I'm unable to prevent his death. Turns out his death is inevitable... ;_;

After one hour, the potion's effects will cease and the requirements for all gear will revert to their original, pre-potion values.

now i can stop the butthurt and be happy, cant wait for this patch

Going through this real slow, but I have got to say, that
Imerlith death
..... outstanding. That motherfucker killed me like 20 times,
plus Vesemir
too. Unforgivable. Felt so good to just bring the hammer down
, literally.

Damn, didn't even know that was a thing, it must be pretty damn rare.

Seemed strictly visual. I couldn't interact with it or anything, but neat to see. Stupid that GOG doesn't have the option for screenshots yet...I don't want to run Fraps or something just for it.

Whenever I press the Stamp button the game crashes for me D:
Can't even take it and paste it in Paint or something.

Interesting, I haven't used Aard yet at all. Is it worth using against humans? I'm doing an alchemy build and I've found DM to be pretty manageable so far.

If I won't confuse the signs, if humans are on the ground you can insta-kill them.

Just saw a
ghost ship
while sailing for the first time after many hours of playing. Pretty neat. :)

I was sailing around Skellige and a whale breached just in front of me. I don't know if it was random or tied to that particular area but it was pretty cool.

Also I'm kind of disappointed that, Battle of Kaer Morhen related,
the Wild Hunt take off their masks/helmets. They were way more intimidating/mysterious when they just spoke in a foreign language in dark, deep tones and you didn't know how much 'flesh' they even had. I mean, I get that they clearly establish they're just a type of elf, but showing them explicitly removes a lot of fear and suspense.

Also was Ciri talking about 'our' world being one she fled to or was that a reference to another work of fiction?

There was a point where she mentioned the Cyberpunk 2077 world I believe.

I actually love the idea that, although strong, they are "regular" and "vulnerable" dudes, but from other reality. Eredin intentions clash with Geralt and his friends, but he's (and the Wild Hunt) not the evil monsters they appear to be at first glace hidden behind their masks.

Yepp, many monsters too. Aard is good against humans, except for the guys with shield, use Axii on them instead.

Dammit I meant to say Axii. Mind warping enemies is absolutely invaluable.

Seriously I have taken out so many bandit camps using just that sign
