Chili Con Carnage!
This was fun, and Rhys Darby is awesome but as an homage to monster of the week I thought it was terrible.

"I want to make you say 'cheese'" is the best horrible dirty talk.

lol what was it she said exactly when she entered the shop? it caught me off guard.

"Yeah I'm having a problem with my phone, I'm a girl and no one is sending me pictures of their junk. Can you help me with that?"

Or did she actually say dicks lol?

I looked online and I was really shocked that Darin Morgan hasn't really done all that much other than The X-Files and Millennium.. The guy is a fucking genius.

He doesn't really like to work. Sounds like his brother had to drag him to do anything. Plus he won an Emmy, hard to get any better recognition.

Holy shit, this third episode was cringe worthy -_-

I can see how it wouldn't be for everyone. I thought the first episode was literally SyFy network movie quality, but I enjoyed the humor here. Especially since we're following around a depressed Mulder in the midst of an existential crisis. Here he ends up hearing one of the most ridiculous stories he has ever heard in the X-Files, and it was most likely true. It reaffirms his faith in the paranormal. It gives someone like Mulder a reason to push on in a modern era where everything is questioned and deconstructed. It worked on a lot of levels for me, especially with Guy going through the human experience in a few days.

LiQuid!

I proudly and openly admit to wishing death upon the mothers of people I don't like
I am going to cry actual tears if this doesn't come back after the 6 are done.

This third episode was perfection.

That was classic monster of the week X files episode.

-Mulder looking though the Fox head
-reference to that Mulder's badge in the simpsons episode
-that scene with Scully in the phone store... HNNNGGGGG....
-Mulders' ring tone.
-lol that lizardman costume. I think you can see the zipper in the back....

I definitely want more Xfiles after this season, but even more than that I want Morgan and Wong to run a new show and bring along Darin.

Not too sure about that. Morgan and Wong have had many years to come up with their own shows, and in that time they've had little to show for it. And I watched Tower Prep just for Darin Morgan's episodes, and it's just not the same. X-Files is simply where those guys shine.

This episode is like an X Files fan litmus test: if you don't like it, you either haven't been here long enough, don't get it, or you aren't legit.

Holy shit I did not even pick up on that.

I'm itching for a rewatch of the episode but I have such a giant TV backlog. For starters I need to watch The Lone Gunmen and Millenium...

I knew it! This episode had all the magic and the chemistry with Mulder and Scully was right back to where it had left off.

no joke, last nights episode was pretty great. Just watched it.
Lots of great humor and Mulder got what he needed to maybe believe again.

So far it feels like each episode has been representative of the different kinds of X-Files episodes. There were tons of silly ones during the original run.

I enjoyed the episode. It looks like they're trying to hit all the notes that made the original run great. This was not a traditional MOTW episode and shouldn't be viewed as such. The X-Files has always been good for a campy episode now and again and this was in the vein of Post-Modern Prometheus. Sucks we're already at the mid-way point, but hopefully the season finishes strong and with any luck we'll get an 11th season.

yea i mean admittedly its been a long while since i last watched the show, but while the show was serious, it was never too serious and always had humor and camp to it.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
I hope they do 8 to 12 eps if they do another season and perhaps get vince gilligan to do some long form story telling like a 3 episode mini arc not revolving around the carter mythology stuff. Sort on a miniseries inside the 11th season.

What a great episode. The X-Files always knew to spread these episodes out so that when they happened, they were a wonderful release from the dark, murderous creatures out there.

It was a great turn on the monster/werewolf theme and did well to mirror Mulder's own self-doubts.

It would be diluted if more episodes this season were like this, but having this be episode 3 is a wonderful contrast (as someone else said, it's like each episode personifies the various themes of the show).

This show needs to come back.

BTW - what was Scully's joke about being immortal a reference to? Thought it was an odd nod to something?

Edit - Just googled it. What a great reference!

I am in the "did not care for it" camp.

The thing that bothered me the most: Mulder's ringtone is the theme of the show. Like... fuck you.

...

Still can't wait for episode 4.

Truly Amazing Episode!

And thank god Chris Carter is only writing 2 episodes. The whole conspiracy thing of the X Files Series has become too stretched and complicated , and the reboot in Episode 1 is the most hasty one I have ever seen.

Also, finger crossed for another mini-series.

Please. I'll take a Jose Chung’s From Outer Space any day, but parts of this episode were pushing it. I'll give it another try for sure, but I don't want them to be so tongue in cheek all the time.

Seriously amazing episode. Shed a tear at the tombstones. Nice touch there.
What's the references to the tombstones and Scully being immortal?

Just caught up and the last episode was hilarious. People huffing spraypaint, drinking rubbing alcohol, abusing anti-psychotics, getting ripped in a cemetery. Good, clean fun.

I think Scully is immortal, in episode
Clyde Bruckman he can see people's death and told Sully she doesn't die.
Also there was another episode where
death was coming for people and it passed this guy up so he was living forever. Later in the episode Scully was about to die, and he said don't look at it, and it took him instead. Which in turn passed her up.

I am sure I didn't explain this well, trying to remember, it's been way to long.
