I think Scully is immortal, in episode
Clyde Bruckman he can see people's death and told Sully she doesn't die.
Also there was another episode where
death was coming for people and it passed this guy up so he was living forever. Later in the episode Scully was about to die, and he said don't look at it, and it took him instead. Which in turn passed her up.

I am sure I didn't explain this well, trying to remember, it's been way to long.
lol im watching that yup right now theyve joked about that already... of crouse she is.. lol shes the best character in the show anyway..

Now, next season should have a monster of the week, with Mulder and Scully having humorous conflicting pov stories where they basically talk shit about each other. Classic X-Files.

Three of a Kind. Awesome Lone Gunmen episode.

k thanks im just on 612 right now... im mostly watching grade A MotW, shipping eps and mythos only.... also any eps Vince wrote ..so can wait Kappa

Haha I commented to my fiancee how Gillian doesn't seem to have aged. Amazing. We watched the most recent episode yesterday. I like that it had the feel of some of the funnier episodes of the original X Files, though at times I think it got a little silly, and I'm pretty sure they could have done a better job with
the lizard makeup and costume.

This episode was rather brilliant and a breath of fresh air. It just felt so uniquely done and was a lot of fun. Some really quirky scenes and some twists that I did not see coming.

Talked to one guy who thought it was "weird" and therefore did not like it but I felt like the weirdness is what sold me most on the episode.

X-Files has definitely had some silly episodes, but none of the older ones reached this level of campiness that I can recall. I started off being really annoyed by the lack of believability, but by the time the final twist was revealed I had reached a level of appreciation for it.

I enjoy the serious episodes more, but this was still a good one.

Did you not watch the episode where a movie based on the X-Files was made? Or the time traveling ghost nazi ship? Or taking a "monster" to a Cher concert? Or ghosts on Christmas eve giving our duo a spoop?

I feel like it was sillier than the comedy eps of the original run because David was in Californication for so many years.

He was pretty much playing Hank Mulder in this episode. He does this sort of thing even better now.

Edit: Although the above post does have a point, those eps were pretty fucking (gloriously) dumb. Maybe I need to re-watch X-Files soon... again...

Oh, I've definitely seen them all, I just don't think any of those really turned it up to eleven, so to speak. That movie episode was one of my favorites, actually, in spite of it not being serious.

The Post-Modern Prometheus is one of my favorite episodes. I love the black and white. The whole Universal Monsters thing Chris Carter was going for. It transcended the inherit goofiness and "gimmick" nature of the story and became something pretty special.

You just listed at least 3 of my favorite episodes lol

same. Carter gets a lot of (deserved) shit but some of his standalones were amazing.

Is it me or is it just weird that the title sequence did not get updated?

They changed it when Duchovony left the show, so you would think they would bother with a revival, I mean the characters are much older now.

Its a show tradition. They said they felt when they changed it for S9 they cursed the show a bit. They had a commentary track about it at one point i think. Made sense to me they went back to the old classic sequence. Kind of cute considering how cheesy it is now.

Final rating went up one tick to 2.7/8

Are these considered good for the 3rd ep?

PMP is brilliant. Probably his best work, but I always feel it kind of ruined him into thinking he could pull anything off, leading to episodes like Triangle where he tried to ape Hitchcock which was always going to be a disaster.

His monster of the week stuff was never quite on the Morgan and Wong level, but he had some strong ones like Flukeman.

Let's not talk about that VR episode though.

I do love Duchovny's Hollywood episode. It's my favorite post season five episode of the handful I've seen. That part where Scully is teaching Tea Leoni how to run in heels in the background while Gary Shandling is asking Mulder if he dresses to the left or right is wonderful stuff.

It's down but everything was down on Monday. That might have to do with Iowa. X-Files and Fox still led the night.

No one should panic.

Uh, if only saw a few episodes when i was a kid and saw that horrible movie will i enjoy this new season?

Don't quit after episode 1 though. I was massively disappointed by the first episode, enjoyed the second, and think the third is one of the ten best episodes the show has ever done.

Personally thought that the episode stepped a bit too far into the absurd. Particularly when the whole backstory was being told in the middle. It went beyond being whimsical to being unhinged. If or how much of that was intentional fails to matter to me, as from that point, it had activated my critical faculties and I was out of the moment. I enjoyed it less from that point. I don't recall experiencing this during any other X Files comedy episode, so that's a shame. Definitely would have preferred some more grounded comedy. At least next week's will undoubtedly be more serious.

Loved episode 1 and 2. The first episode was a great lore episode to get things going again. I seen people not like it but to me it was excellent.

The episode 2 was great as well. Classic X files.

Episode 3 I didn't enjoy after hearing it was great. I like the light hearted episodes but that was truly over the top. When it went from entertaining to absurd I lost interest in the episode.

I hope next weeks is better.

Another GOAT moment.

Vince Gilligan's episodes in general deserve more love.

Bad Blood and Je Souhaite are two of my favorite comedic episodes that he's done. I'd put Were-Monster in there as my top 3 comedic episodes.

His straightforward MOTW episodes were great as well. I rewatched Folie a Deux recently and it still holds up well, great one liners "Remember Gary, smile & dial!!". A scene with Mulder restrained in a psych ward saying "Come on Scully we both knew this was going to happen eventually".

Been wanting to rewatch "Drive" though since I've forgotten it, and obviously it had Bryon Cranston as the guest star. It's funny how both Cranston, and Aaron Paul both had guest roles in the show. Even though Paul wasn't in an episode done by Gilligan.

My personal favorite is Bad Blood.

I fucking love how the other one is a complete dick in their different versions of the story.

I also love how, in Mulder's version, his craziness is toned down to 1. He's so apologetic about his conspiracy theories.

so, you guys think we will get a full season if the ratings stay strong?

The season has already been shot. That's not how TV works. They can't just produce episodes in a week. This is why the Front End is 13 episodes, so that they have time to make more episodes when the Back End is greenlit (if it's not greenlit already).

Six episodes.... we'd be waiting a year for the back half of the season.

Just watched Episode 2 today, leagues better than the opener.

The only criticism I have of that episode is how hard they lean on technology jokes. Yes, we know you're from the 90's and you didn't have many things back then. Now we do. It just doesn't come across as normal conversation and seems forced.

That gif of Gillian sure looks nice. That actually from the new season?

Is it a must that finish the previous seasons first? I never made it very far, I think I was busy with Season 3 and I've yet to continue with it. I should, right?

Strangely I was never a big fan of Gilligan's comedic episodes (they always felt like a pale imitation of Darin Morgan's) but LOVED his scary ones. Pusher is a Top 10 episode for me.

I need to revisit those though.
