This was an interesting episode in that the two stories don't formally intersect but inform and complete each other thematically. In that sense it's really one story with two different and independent plots. Audacious bit of writing by Glen Morgan. I don't know if it completely succeeds but I appreciate the effort.

On that note, I'm impressed by how confident the storytelling has been in this miniseries. These feel like mid-period X-Files episodes where the writers were fucking with the formula on a weekly basis. Also, I like that there is all this personal stuff happening (missing William, Mrs. Scully's heart attack) because it makes it feel like we're in the middle of a series, not its beginning or end.

Nice episode again. Not really an ending to it, but that's fine. I like how they switch it around. Comedic episode last week, some more creepy and horror vibes this one. Hope they keep it up and can come back for another season, since ratings have been great.

Any news yet if they will continue with it next year or is it a one-time thing?

It's time to fire up the ratings scoreboard! /accesshollywood

“The Bachelor” scored season-high ratings Monday night, improving two tenths on last week’s 18-49 rating with a 2.4. It came close to topping “The X-Files” (2.5), which remained the night’s No. 1 show despite slipping a tenth from last week’s fast nationals (it adjusted up in the finals). “Lucifer” (1.7) also fell for FOX.

Overall, I think this has been a complete success for Fox. If they can pay Duchovny and Anderson enough they will definitely do another batch.

Well-said. This echoes some things I'd thought about it.

It's too bad the ratings slipped a bit. I need more.

Why is The Bachelor still so popular??.......

Also Lucifer ain't that bad, it's kind of become one of my guilty pleasure shows..

What would be nice though is to have X-Files lead in for Gotham.

I really liked this episode too! Three solid episodes in a row, this is looking good now.

Favorite part was the part with the downtown music montage, that was awesome.

We got the flashlights! X-Files is back!

Also, Scully has been more physical than Mulder so far. Shes not needed saving yet. She took down that punk pretty easily and the murderer at the animal shelter.

I got the first season on Blu-ray and with between it being remastered in HD and not having seen these episodes probably since their original airing, and maybe during in-season reruns the same year, it's almost like watching a whole new show. So much archaic technology to cause nostalgia too.

That last episode was nothing but fucking trash.

teehee i enjoyed it. Season has been a pleasent return to the olden days, minus that stupid first episode.

I thought it was a pretty generic episode, related to the Trash Man.

And in the end they just tied that up with "disposing" of their kid. I felt like they really tried too hard to drive that point.

Mulder seriously needed more of a role in the last scene. It was like Scully was talking to a wall.

That's my only real complaint about the season so far - the writers are struggling to find Mulder's voice. They really haven't given Duchovny much to work with, so it's hard to fault him for flat performances at times.

Mulder's arc has been redemption. Episode one showcased how depressed he had become, episode two showed him coming back to reality, episode three saw him get his mojo back.

Mulder is coming back from a very dark place.

Enjoyed that one a lot, but as others have said it kind of just ends despite a good last scene.

Anderson was always the best actor on the show, just a ton was asked for her range-wise than anyone else (especially the last few seasons). Scully went through a ton personally and it's great that Anderson can still go there with that character. A great episode for her and that character just like the previous episode was a great episode for Duchovny and Mulder and playing to his strengths with that deadpan humor.

Enjoying the comeback quite a bit. First episode was the roughest but not horrible, it just had a lot it had to put out there and it struggled with that. Still makes no sense that CSM is back.

This season has been pretty damn awesome. Man it's good to have this show back. And it doesn't even feel like they're retreading tropes just for the sake of it. It actually feels like the goddamn X-Files mmmhhh

It just feels like a lot of the tertiary and secondary characters are actors playing characters in the xfiles, they don't feel like characters in the xfiles. There are also a lot of camera movements that just don't feel like the xfiles, as well.

Love the run so far over all but if they do this again there's a lot of amateurishness that needs to be ironed out first.

why is this only a 6 episode season.

From what I read Duchovny and Anderson both really loved doing the X-Files but didn't like full 22+ episodes seasons so they got a short season. Fox was probably happy to test the waters with a shorter season as well since the last X-Files movie did poorly at the box office.

Assuming we get more seasons (and I wouldn't be surprised if we do since this is getting some pretty good ratings) I wouldn't be surprised if future seasons are slightly longer (maybe 8-10 episodes) but I wouldn't expect any full seasons in the future.

I don't want full seasons! Bring back each great writer for one ep and have them droppin' quality one-shots. Hell, see if they can swing Vince Gilligan for next season.

Yeah 8-10 miniseries is most likely, I assume they're both busy still with other shows like what happened with this season.

Trashman was okay, still loving Were-monster tbh, one of my fav episodes ever!

Yup, IIRC Anderson was completely apprehensive about signing back on for this until she heard it would only be 6 episodes. She had 0 interest in doing a longer season.

Damn, the trash-man was creepy as hell. Good episode. I really hope they continue with the show, I need more!
Yes I loved this episode. The dude playing the artist Trash man was really good too. Loved his scene.

Such a great episode. Heavy hitting, emotional, graphic... Love the subtle unwinding of Scully.

Is there anything known about the blurays from the original series hitting europe/the netherlands soon? I have the dvd box but want the upgrade baby

They broke out the flashlights in episode 2, although I believe the episodes are being aired out of order so that's why it seemed like the flashlight reveal was supposed to be more impactful this episode.

man some of you are nit picky as fuck. You want oscar worthy acting out of some extras? The two people fighting over the homeless were fine.

well the episodes name was "Home Again," the original "Home" explored the themes of motherhood amongst other themes. The opening of home has a grotesque baby being found buried, kind of like a piece of trash. At the end of "Home Again" Scully says i hope he doesnt think we got rid of him like a piece of trash, or something like that.

Two solid episodes in a row, IMO. Things didn't really feel "right" until the third episode, when the actors looked comfortable in their roles again.

Episode 1: "Hey everyone, *yawn*, we're ba... OMG, IT'S ALL BEEN A LIE?"
Episode 2: "LOL, jk. We're FBI agents again I guess?"

I'm aware of that, but it doesn't help it from feeling like a throwaway episode aside from Skully's mom's death.

Im enjoying it but it feels like it should be a regular season. Or at least the usual "half season" most shows are these days (13 eps). The eps werent bad per se, but they weren't amazing either and it feels like it should be part of something bigger (hopefully with a proper season 2...err...11) and not a mini.

1 more MOTW epiaode and the last is back to alien conspiracy stuff right?

last episode was pretty creepy, i thought. it was two episodes mashed into one, and im sure that's a product of there being so few episodes available.

it pushes the mythology a little more in a personal direction that isn't on a meta level, so that was nice.
