400-450 €
but there is hope that it could be a bit lower after final negotiations with Redmond.

That would suck. :( I would definitely import my Xdude 360 if its over 400 euros here in EU and $299 in US. :\

$299 or bust.

i'm guessing it will be round $400.

Sony will destroy this price by the way, they will give the PS3 a $600 pricetag :)

$299 with HDD and wireless controller
$359 with HDD, wireless controller, headset and 1-year XBL Gold

I actually do have a friend whose brother-in-law is testing the 360 and games. I haven't asked him anything beyond which games he thinks are coolest, but I'll see if he has any idea at all what sort of target price their going for.

He was a part of the Halo 2 employee testing and he had a good idea of its real release date fairly early. It's not like anything he can tell me would be official, but he's probably heard some sort of rumblings on the subject since he works in Redmond.

My guess, $350.

I'm guessing $299.99 with the 20 GB HDD, because it just makes sense.

We'll see a "Premium" Xbox 360 next year for more (with a larger bundled HDD, WiFi Card & HD-DVD playback) to help combat PlayStation 3 launch.

Seriously, though..

From what I've heard, $299 with accessories subsidizing a lot of the loss. Be prepared to pay out the ass for every peripheral (including wireless controllers) that you want. Moreso than usual.

Isn't there going to be a press conference today about this topic? I think to remember that 1up said something like that a couple of days ago. I'm getting old.. :(

360 = $150. If you're going to take down this gen's leader, you've got to start at this gen's prices!

60 dollars for an hd-dvd and "etc"?

i believe that your source is from bizarro world.
I think the "Xbox 360 HD Pack" will probably be priced accordingly compared to whatever PS3 comes in at. Maybe not the same per se but I could deifinitely see PS3 @ $349.99 and 360 HD @ $399.99 (with the plain 360 holding at $299.99).

Ha! I'd love that. That would be MS basically telling everyone that PS3 is a bargain at that price. You get your bluray and wifi built in, and if we bundle accessories to give an equivalent experience, it'll cost way more. Go buy Sony!

Seriously, I don't think thats a good call for MS.

I'll take the lifetime-ban challenge on this one..

360 will *never* be more expensive than PS3. *NEVER*
No, I fully expect the HD-DVD backed 360 to be (slightly) more expensive than PS3. Toshiba's likely subsidising the drive costs for MS, but not nearly by the same amount as Sony is internally for BD I'd wager.

I dunno, it allows the consumer a choice (unlike PS3) and also gives MS the premium card (more expensive = better) to a slight degree. Certainly not an airtight strategy, but it could definitely play into Microsoft's favor with consumer perception if handled right.

The only reasons I could see a $349 launch is:

1. Holiday shopping -- 360's will be sold out, regardless of $299 or $349.
2. Teh Hardc0re -- Will buy one regardless of $299 or $349
3. Future Price Reduction -- Price reduction == amazing consumer bait.

Nov - Jan, 1 SKU -- $349 w/HDD

Feb/March - PS3 launch, 2 SKUs -- $349 w/HDD, $299 w/o HDD/remote/headset

PS3 launch - ?, 2 SKUs -- $299 w/HDD, $249 w/o HDD/remote/headset

Wireless controllers @ $59
"Long" remote @ $29

But are YOU willing to take the lifetime-ban challenge??

$7000 for just the box, no system, no hard drive, NOTHING.
