Wow. Kinda surprised that judges didn't like that run very much. Must have really taken points off for that last landing.

Australian skier is a total babe

That was a rough landing

They're all total babes in skiing and snowboarding. Makes me wonder why I played ice hockey instead of being on the slopes on Whistler.

A lot of falls and injuries. This course worked so well for men Snowboard slopestyle, but skiers not getting the air and speed. They're hitting knuckles, they're not able to hit the jumps they want.

Time for men's halfpipe! God I love the Winter Olympics.

Edit: Oh shit and more curling! OMG there's too much going on today!

Ok

Probably the most entertaining cross country event for casual observers is starting today - sprint. Think short track but on skis. Intense hustling. American fave on the women's side.

Right now they're just doing qualis where skiers go out individually to compete on time. This decides who starts where in the quarterfinals, where the event really starts (in about 2 hours, both men and women today)

Hard to ski/board on slush and water...

Awesome that the Canadian girls picked up (another!) Gold and Bronze, but really hope that Yuki Tsubota is okay after that brutal fall...

Did something happen to Yuki for Canada in ski slopestyle? I didn't watch the finals but she looked really good in quali.

1 & 3 is wicked though! Scary we could have swept if Turski was on her game too. Slopestyle for Canada looking good for the future.

Edit: oh damn above post. Broken jaw? Afraid to see that fall...

Has anyone been watching the snowboarding competitions online through NBC?

I couldn't stand listening to the commentator (Jack Nicholls) and was appalled that NBC could hire someone who seems to know little to nothing about snowboarding. Most of the play-by-play amounts to: "he approaches the jump, he lands it, that was pretty good."

I later found out that the coverage is actually different than what you get on television and is instead through a service called "Live Extra". It has now started to become hilarious with the men's halfpipe qualifications where he is having trouble keeping up and is only able to call out the every other flat spins. With the more advance riders, it is practically dead silence throughout the entire run.

9 medals for Canada on day 4 is real good. I don't know if they are top heavy and things will slow down later in the schedule or if it will continue and we have many favorites to come. I know Patrick Chan and Tessa Virtue/Scott Moir & the short track speed skating with Hamelin and some of the women are expected to bring in another handful of medals. Hockey too of course. But looking at that 14 gold in Vancouver is mighty impressive. I don't think that is attainable. Goes to show you how everything went right in Vancouver.
