I think they were ready too early in the season. They dominated the Tour de Ski but are now not on their peak anymore. Cologna was injured during that, so he was ready for the Olympics.

In Alberville this happened to our alpine ski team, they won everything up to the Olympics, but were not ready for the Olympics anymore. Of course it's easier to start a discussion about the wax or other thing right now, but in the end, the planned their season not like the Swedish, Russians or the Swiss.

But marit Bjørgen won the skiathlon in the olympics. She can't be the best skier in the world one day and then suddenly mediocre a few days later

Maybe she had the most power left. Did you see Sundby today, he was almost dying in the end, that's not about the wax.

That's exaxtly what it is. They need to spend so much more energy than the other skiers since their skis aren't as fast, so they get tired much faster than they would normally. The biathletes hae the same problem. all the skiers and the waxers themselves agree that the skis are awful, so not sure why you'd think they're making this up.

How can they fail with the skis so many times?

They prepare a lot of skis and the crew and skiers test them and obviously think they are good before the race. During a relay they can also see that the skis are bad and the others have a chance to select other skis.

Because it's easier. Bad or wrong planing is way more serious.

And it happens to a lot of athletes. The Austrian Ski Jumpers were dominating this season, but did the win gold? Shaun White lost as well and I could add lots and lots of examples of the years.

Best example are the Swiss, Simon did not win big time before the Olympics. First time Hannawald should have won. He won pretty much everything up to the Olympics during that year. He was the first to win all four events during the four hills tournament. In Vancouver Schlierenzauer should have won, same thing again.

Olympics are very special, you have to ready for the event and if you were dominating before doesn't mean anything, because everybody will give their best, even total Wildcards.

I just looked at Perrillat Boiteux's results on the world cup circuit and it's not pretty. I think he's only had two top 30 finish in his career. Pretty amazing that he held on for bronze.

What exactly did the Austrians dominate? They did well in the 4 hills, otherwise it was all Stoch and Prevc.

The Olympics are like that. Everybody gives their best. It happens all the time, it motivates people more. Who would have guessed that Viletta would win? He won once before a few years ago.

You think that the waxers would accept having their jobs jeopardized and being publically ridiculed for three weeks just to hide the fact that every single skiier on the dominant Norwegian team suddenly lost their fitness in one week and at the exact same time as the weather changed.

Such a great Olympics for us in Sweden!

To bad about all unfortunate hockey injuries, we could have had Gold even there if it wasnt for these damn injuries. Thankfully these wins we have had so far have helped mend the wounds a bit.

Both American curling teams gave us a run for our money today

And a big game for the men coming up in a couple hours, against China. Will determine whether we make it into the 1-2 playoff or the 3-4 elimination playoff.

Poland's medal count is hilarious this year, 4 gold and nothing else. FYI, up to Sochi we only won 2 golds. In the 90 years of participation we won half the medals we've got now. And one of them was through absurd luck.

Well, I kinda wanted Kasai to win but hell, Stoch first and Kasai second is beautiful so I've got nothing to complain about :)

I still think Stoch got a little too many points for style. 19s were a bit much for the last jump. But I've nothing against Stoch winning, it was a very good podium! Happy for all of them.

It weirds me out that the women's skating has 5 seconds difference amongst the top times; it's certainly not an amateur sports or anything, but it's really Ter Mors that demolished the rest.

The best are still to come, Wust will get really close. But yeah her time is insane.

Wow what the hell is happening to the US skaters. This isn't suits.

I'm happy for ter Mors, Wust already has a tonne of gold medals. But I would also have liked to see an openly LGBT becoming the biggest Olympic gold medal winner hehe, oh well.
