My sister left for a 4-day vacation and let me drive her car for the weekend. This is the first time I'm really gonna be driving on my own. So what happens the first day? I was waiting at a light, the pickup in front of me runs it. It turns green and when I accelerate the ho flashes his lights. He asks for the insurance and proof of ownership. I tell him just a minute and look for them. He goes back to his car and I wave them out the window. He comes back 3 goddamn tickets. Driving without insurance, running a redlight and no seatbelt. I had my fucking papers he was just too lazy to stand in the cold claiming "I waited for one minute and 25 seconds." Second how the hell can I run a red light if there's a vehicle in front of me? So now I got 3 tickets, I'm late for work and I have to call and set a date for court.

I'm fighting this. I HOPE his rotten ass shows up.

i got pulled over for doing 60 in a 55. called the sheriff's office of that hick town and bitched at the sheriff, and he ripped the ticket up.
otherwise i was facing $80

in high school i got pulled over for going 80 in a 55. had $200 of alcohol in the trunk, and the cop asks "how fast did you think you were going?"
"80, sir"
"so you knew you were speeding?"
"absolutely, sir"
"alright, at least you're honest. you have three options...either give me the money for the ticket now if you have it on you, give me your license because you have to under state law, and i'll send it back after you pay the fine, or you can drive off and do the speed limit. your choice."

90% of the time the cops don't fill out thier part, and your case gets dissmissed and charges dropped....it works for speeding tickets, probably work for this stuff too.

While it should be pretty obvious why people get pulled over for speeding (and I know you didn't do that in this case), I don't really understand the whole seatbelt law thing. If a dumbass wants to get his ass ejected through the front windshield in an accident, that's his decision, but it's not something that effects others. I felt the same way until I realized it is in place due to insurance. If more people are hurt because they do not have to wear a seatbelt then you will watch you liability insurance skyrocket.

Exactly. i'll glad bitch about cases of police brutality or abusive profiling, but if you're speeding, driving with lights out, or committing any other offense while driving, you're in the wrong and it's up to them to determine what to do. There's no point in making the job harder for them and ultimately yourself. A couple of weeks after my dad died, i was in a part of town i wasn't normally in, and wasn't really watching my speed. i got pulled over for doing about 50 in a 35. i was polite with the cop and apologized. He gave me a ticket for the minimum overage (0-3 miles over i think). Ninety dollars and no points later, i haven't had another ticket since.

I got pulled over several weeks ago. I was on my way back from working out at 11:30 at night, so I only had my university ID on me. I was going 47 in a 35. Cop looked up my information, gave me a verbal warning and sent me on my way.

So I don't hate cops
