He was trying to say that the victims are primarily poor and primarily black. It came out a bit garbled, but it's hardly racist. It came out a bit wrong, but such are the perils of live television. Next imaginary crisis, please!

"I think he was going with the whole "so" theme and threw the word "so" in front of Black. If he said "they are SO poor and the majority of them are Black" ...would he still raise ire?
I don't think this is a racist comment...just a dumb one to say "so Black". But face facts, the majority of those who lost everything ARE Black.

Oh come on - he just left out a few words from his point while in the middle of his thought. He clearly meant to say something along the lines of "These people are so poor, and so many of them are black."
Instead - with the camera rolling - he said "These people are so poor...and so black..."
He obviously isn't trying to say anything beyond this....

This counterculture, so to speak, is wholly American, whether it's by residents in Canada (outside of Quebec), US, Mexico, or even South America to a lesser extent.
I guess I don't have a problem with the "african american" stuff, but if it gets to like "Angolan-Sudanese-American" for anyone who was already born here... then, uh... well I'll be beefin' some more. Sorry if I offended any of you.
