Meant to post this earlier but I was too enthralled with actually playing games...I pre-ordered the PS5back on Sept 16th in the middle of the night when the direct to cart links for Amazon started appearing on forums/twitter. I managed to secure a system, controller, charging station, and headphones all that night. Like many, I watched my order status go without updates for ages, until finally a week before shipping I got the launch day shipping update.
Day of launch I was refreshing my tracking page on UPS constantly. We had pretty heavy rain that week so I was worried about the water, so I even went into the UPS site and added a note to deliver the box to my covered side porch. The day was long, but late in the evening around 7pm my front doorbell rang. By the time I got to the door, the delivery guy had already ran back to his black SUV. and on my front door in the pouring rain was this box....
The entire bottom half of the box was drenched like it had sat in a puddle. If the SUV had not peeled out I probably would have killed them. The range of emotions was real. Somehow, after peeling away the floppy cardboard, the PS5 box inside was merely slightly damp. and the box inside the box was completely dry. My PS5 booted fine, and all was well. No issues since then, but goddamn man. I can't imagine the return process or replacement process would have been speedy or fun. Next launch I will probably opt for a big box store.
JUst take it easy Walter, just take it easy manLooks like it was slipped a roofie and passed around the frat house. Glad it still works for you.
are we all acting shocked that delivery people don't give a fuck how your package arrives?
they are on shitty money and tight schedules. they don't give a fuck about babying your product bought my mummy + daddys money. they are out working their ass off while you sit at home waiting to play video games.

This, a million times.
Not requiring a signature on delivery is an asinine policy.
Omg, wtf is this from? Lmao
It was from this segment, this shit gets me every time
I would of had a heart attack if I saw my delivery box like that. Wouldn't want to think the worse and have have your system damaged
How about I kick you around Instead.Weak. You should have kicked it around a bit to see if the box survives since you paid premium for it. Oh and the PS5 too.
I've had three packages stolen from my property in the past 8 months alone, and that was when I was home. Different areas and all that. I got security cameras now, and even caught the people who stole my wife's bike, but the local police department said that, even with the footage, it wasn't enough evidence to secure an arrest....Washington is a shit hole sometimes. We receive over a hundred packages a year, easily. 90% of those are when nobody is home. I think we've lost one package in the last decade.

Could be worse could look like that and be a bag of rice
Paying with your hard earned money and delivering a messed up box is not good.. To you maybe. Lol, your fists backed up by cigarettes arms... You should worry about me sticking my work boot all the way up your expansion slot. You sound like a downright pussy feeling weak over boxes. Wonder how far you'll melt into your own scrotum when you see my fist.
*What I Actually Mean: "Let's make out"

When nobody's home usually the postman can leave a note (saying he'll pass again in date X at hour Y) or that, after a number of tries, you can collect the item in the nearest post office. We receive over a hundred packages a year, easily. 90% of those are when nobody is home. I think we've lost one package in the last decade.
I imagine these decisions come from big companies' calculations on how much they can lose via damage/stolen packages, against how much they can gain by having as many packages delivered as soon as possible by their limited amount of drivers.I find it strange how in some countries (including USA) you can have your package delivered without your actual signature. You're just asking for trouble in case your package gets damaged or stolen.
As someone who works in the "delivery industry", looks like your parcel was sitting on a "bad side of a pallet" sort of speak. Probably moved all round with whatever else was stacked on top, or below, outside in the rain. The box structurally collapsed due to water and they did their best to tape it and ship it. Yours is probably not the only one. That's my guess, can't say for sure, but I wouldn't be too mad at the guy delivering it. He knew how fucked up it was and didn't want to deal with an angry customer asking questions he couldn't answer. I'm glad it still works for you. I've seen far worse.Shame the guy didn't stick around.
Those people will be in jail for a long time if they're caught. As someone who worked in a FedEx Warehouse, they do NOT mess around with that stuff and security is very tight.Looks like someone was considering stealing it tbh OP. I’ve heard people getting their PS5 stolen from the warehouse, mainly fedex but still.
Good call. I went on support chat and without even seeing the package photo offered me 10% refund and apologized for the delivery state.I'd still talk to Amazon. They may give you some credit. That is crap.
