This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Sorry for double-post, but does anyone know of any good mobile gamepads (with phone attachment) that also work for Windows computers? Does the MOGA Pro do that?

I have been in the market for a really good 2d side scrolling game that has action and rpg elements. Much like the castlevania games. With tons of things to collect. Any ideas???
I have a 3ds, wiiu , 360, vita, and ps3.

This is kinda gaming related but why are the justin.tv/twitch.tv mobile apps so terrible? Does anyone know of any good alternatives outside of the official apps?

There is a fix for this.

If you make sure the name of your device is all one word, with no special characters or spaces it will function correctly. It does work due to how poorly the app stores data and the self imposed limits within its coding.

For iPhone and iPad go to Settings then general, about, name & change device name to a single word, no spaces or special characters.

I'm going for the Conservationist achievement in Megaman 9. In Wily's Castle, do continues reset your weapon usage on that level? Or do you have to clear everything in essentially one go?

Can anyone with a fair bit of experience with the two point out their strength and weaknesses vs each other?

I am primarily a PC gamer and would usually choose 360 if I had to play a game on one of the consoles but I don't like the idea of paying for the live service anymore. With my laptop recently being stolen and a replacement taking forever I am firing up the consoles again for some couch gaming. Struggling with the decision of which console to focus on.

These lists are probably incomplete, but they might give you some inspiration:
• http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:PlayStation_3-only_games

I personally prefer the PSN's library and most of the interesting XBLA exclusives have ended up getting ports to other platforms (Fez, Trials: Evolution, Limbo, Braid, Spelunky).

The other differences between the two platforms are quite minor. Microsoft uses a stupid point system instead of real money, Sony uses a moronic system for downloading and patching content.

So I recently bought some games from videogamesplus.ca.

Not only did I receive the SMT: Devil Summoner two-pack instead of the SMT: Digital Devil Saga two-pack I ordered, but I also have a suspicion that the "new" Radiant Historia that I ordered is actually resealed. What do you guys think?

hard to tell, there's been times where i've bought a game that was sealed pretty sloppily (and for all intents and purposes, it seemed brand new) but that looks like a re-seal. the fact that they sent you the wrong game doesn't help.

I haven't bought a ton of new DS games in my day so I am certainly not an authority on the subject, but my gut tells me that is resealed. Shouldn't there be folded seams along the edge similar to the way a present is wrapped? Those corners look really shoddy. The whole thing should be more uniform than that.

Edit: A cursory Google image search turned this up:

More a GAF question than a gaming question, but:

What does ITT stand for on here? Call me a dope but I've never been able to work it out.

Has every single site that hosted Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic mods gone offline? I was looking for face mods for female characters in that game (the defaults are terrible compared to the second game) and it seems FileFront hosted 98% of the mods. FileFront no longer hosts files. There are lots of sites, but they all seem to have hosted at FileFront.

So i just opened sealed copy of my resistance platinum edition but i cannot find psn pass any where can somebody help me ?

So I'm thinking of getting a PS3 and it'll be my first one. I found a cheap one on eBay, but I wanna know...

Do I need to be wary of it possibly being blocked from PSN (like how 360s can be banned from Live)? I definitely want to buy Journey and Okami from PSN.

What else should I watch out for, besides checking it actually works?

Does anyone know if A Link to the Past will be coming to Nintendo eShop. I am working my way through the original game, but I wanna skip Zelda 2 and go straight to LTTP if I can.

I'd make a thread if I could, but does anyone know what the final game to use the old 'hollow' ESRB rating is?

1998 – K-A (Kids to Adults) rating category changed to E (Everyone)
http://www.esrb.org/about/chronology.jsp

EDIT:Opps didnt see the final bit xD

Should be one of the games on Page 1 or 2 here:
http://www.mobygames.com/attribute/sheet/attributeId,91/offset,0/so,1d/

You will need to look up exact release dates and Ratings from other sources for 1998 and 1999 games.

Thanks, I figured it was somewhere in 1999. Magic Knight Rayearth released December 1998 and used the hollow ones, but Sonic Adventure in September 1999 used the bold ones. Also, didn't specifically mean the K-A rating, it was just the first one I found when looking for the old logos. E, T, or M are fine too. The phasing out of that rating and the switch to the logos could've happened at the same time though.

Oh I see, my bad xD I need more sleep. It would be very hard to find the first game that used the first bold style ESRB logo. Might be worth looking at any news sites that talk about new ersb logos. Or yes, pick games from before and after the change and slowly narrow it down. Moby is fairly comprehensive on it's game lists. The link i sent is only K A ratings so not useful for your specific question. Again, my apologies.

No problem, but just to sorta' self-answer my question, I dug around Wikipedia and the latest example of the hollow logos that I could find was for Toy Story 2 and Harvest Moon 64, both released November 30th, 1999. A few months after games had already transitioned to the bold ones, so who knows what it could be!

If you do enough research you would get the right, or the best available answer, depends how much you need to know and how accurate you need to be =P

If its academic, you can just say 'The earliest known game to use the bold logos was <game here> (Reference to the earliest game you can find with the bold logo).

no slip or paper in sealed copy
btw its resistance 3 platinum edition

Odd, platinum version possibly has it on the back of the manual?

If that is not the case ring Sony Customer Support in your country. They will probably ask you to email them a copy of your receipt as proof of purchase and give you a new network code.

Looking at your profile you are in Pakistan, they didn't have an online service back in 2010 I believe, so its possible that there is no Network Pass code because you couldn't get online if you wanted to?

Also important to remember that if you imported the game, a Network Pass for the region you imported from would be required, ie if you imported from America, you need an American account and an American Network pass code to work with your game.

when i use to brows the internet on my PS3 i would be able to watch videos(it use to tell me i f i wanted to run Java script i think before loading the page) but now it doesn't pop up and the page will load but the video wont... i tried looking at all my settings but i cant fix it

why cant i watch videos anymore?? is there a way to fix this??

I bought the official sony pulse wireless headset earlier this week. Now. To have virtual 7.1 sound, is it possible with any game or only in games where i can choose surround sound in the options?

Like in uncharted 3 i can choose from stereo, headphones or 7.1....

Can anybody with Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and Windows 8 check whether the game works in fullscreen? I tried it on both my desktop with Win8 x64 and Laptop with Win8 x86, and in both cases, I can't get fullscreen to work. As soon as I select it from the options, it immediately switches back to windowed mode.

I remember reading about a Japanese-only release of a handheld game (Nintendo developed, I think) that was either on the GBA or the DS... I'm leaning towards DS. It came with some kind of optical sensor that plugged into the cart slot. I think you moved the entire handheld around over a flat surface and the sensor then moved your character on screen.

Any idea what this was called? And if so, was it any good?
