This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

So, as I play through Dark Souls, and plan to begin DSII shortly after, I have to ask a question: Is the DLC for DSII worth it?

they were all pretty good, Sunken king easily being the best.
I know i didn't regret buying them, but then i really like souls games.

if you are on the fence i would say to beat the main game first, and if you want more areas to play through then go for it.

I'm sorry in advance given this is more PC hardware related, but I recently bought a 970 and ever since installing it, when I boot my computer it stays an easy 2 minutes at the "Press to enter setup" screen, completely unresponsive, and then goes to boot normally.

Is there anything I can do about that?

I'd ask in the PC parts threads as that's definetly weird. Have you tried putting the old card back in and seeing if it still works normally? Or making sure the computer recognizes it as a 970 and not a default video driver?

No clue with Action mode. I imagine they're there but given the responses are automated it might not be that great for filling up the readiness meter.

Yes. Widely regarded as some of the best content in the game.

I was just a bit worried, as I liked the addition the Abyss DLC gave, but the Crown DLC is about double that, and I was worried they'd gone the route of other publishers of increasing the costs but cutting the content.

I'm buying my first Forza game today, Forza 4 or Forza Horizon 1? I've been trying to decide for the past week and I still don't know which one to get.

So I'm getting no os notifications on my ps4. Anyone else with this problem? No notifications for screenshots /video.

Where I really notice it is when my pad just dies. No "your battery is getting low" notification.

Anyone else have this issue?

Bloodborne - What if it was made into a film?

How about this?

What was it like convincing your parents to get you a video game console in the 80s, older GAF?

I mean, how did you describe gaming?

I never had to. If anything, they got me into it. I remember getting a Spectrum one Christmas, and that's where it started.

Oh cool stuff. I was watching The Americans and it's set in the 80s. Hearing a kid try to convince his parents to get him a video game was hilarious.
Made me wonder how different things were from trying to convince my parents that the PlayStation was the best thing ever back when I was 9 and they sort of had this blank stare like, "play what?".

Pardon my asking, but I bet you're gonna get your kids into gaming (if you haven't already), aren't ya?

I don;t have kids, but if/when I do, I'm not going to go out of my way to force my tastes on them. I'll let them decide what their own interests are.

My parents got me a NES when I was 2 in 1989. I did not have to ask for it as I was 2.
They aren't gamers or anything, I believe they just thought it was cool. When I was too young to play I would watch my dad, he'd try to play for me.

I think they heard it was good for motor skills and boosted reading skills too? I dunno but regardless I thank them, the NES was awesome.

If I bought the game on ps4 disc version and decide to get digital version later, would the game download or just use the installation data instead of downloading game?

PS4 related: somehow I cannot activate gyroscope typing anymore. It makes me sad. I tried looking for a setting and can't find anything. Pressing R3 doesn't do it either. Anyone else notice this and/or can help?

Acquire recently a new 3DS, just finished Zelda OoT 3D, and now I don't know wich of thses games I get first:

-Mario 3D Land
-Zelda Majora's Mask 3D
-Zelda A Link Between Worlds

Any recommendations?

When did the meaning of "locked fps" change?
"Locked at 60fps" imo used to mean that the frame rate will never go above 60 but these days i often see it used as "steady 60fps", meaning that the fps is always at 60 and never goes below or above it.

There's no bad choice there. Go with what you feel like playing.

When demands on hardware increased to such an extent that falling below the target framerate was more of a risk.

Aren't you thinking of the word "capped" in the first sentence? Locked implies that it doesn't deviate from the target frame rate.

Cap = Won't go above
Lock = Won't go above and below

OHH man I have had one for a few years now....

Why did they cut the max shotgun ammo by approx half in Left4Dead2 compared to Left4Dead. I have never been able to find a solid answer.

No. There's not many differences in the endings either way. There's a readiness gauge that affects mostly the lead up to the ending, but if you do most of the side quests you'll fill it up easily.

I wanted to add to this, there isn't a 'best ending' either. It's a subjective choice.

Is there any chance of Bravely Default going on sale on the eshop any time soon? I have the worst luck by buying something and then having it go on sale.

Problem is that I feel like playing all of them! And there's also Monster Hunter 4 and Shin Megami Tensei IV (since this last one is pretty cheap on e-shop right now, with 50% disccount).

Is there a way to top up your PSN wallet with Google Play credit?

I have £20 spare (unclaimed on cards) and i wanted to know if there was anyway i could use that to top up my PSN account. I know you can top up PSN via mobile but from what i can find that seems to go directly onto your phone bill instead of Google Play.

Figured with Witcher 3 coming out i wouldn't mind getting some money off that if i could get it digitally with £20 off.

I've started listening to podcasts on my Vita lately and certain podcasts will spike in audio in the left ear, but not as much in the right ear. They also still happen even when my headphones aren't plugged in. There's also portions where the podcast might speed up in sections. I download the podcasts directly to my vita from the podcast sites and haven't tried moving them from a PC to a Vita to know if it fixes the problem. All I know is that the audio spikes happen frequently when I listen to The Comedy Button and the speed up happens when I listen to the Giant Bombcast. Nothing seems to happen when I listen to the Super Best Friendcast. It's just completely random as far as I see and it just randomly started happening one week. I have no clue on what could be causing it.

Does anybody have any idea why this problem exists or if copying them over from a PC makes it work guaranteed?

Why are you listening to podcasts on a vita? Don't you have a phone?

Sadly, I don't know much about the Vita's music application, but since it's the Vita and it's happening randomly, are there any functions that are activated by the rear touchpad?

At the moment it's just easier for me to download a podcast onto my Vita. I'd use a phone or literally anything else if I could.

I probably shouldn't of said randomly as it still happens at certain points constantly for each podcast I download. It's random to me in why it spikes or fast forwards. I'll download a Bombcast and at some point during the emails at the same moment for one particular podcast it will make a fast forwarding sound as if I were fast forwarding it. I don't believe it would be something with backtouch as I have the system in standby when I'm listening.

I just have no idea. I'm slightly scared my Vita wants to die, but nothing like that has happened when I played Monsterbag or Senran Kagura Bon Appetit. It's just a freak random occurrence to me right now. A consistent occurrence, but still pretty random to me.

I'd like to start playing Castlevania (never played it, or at least never played it more than 2hours), what sould I play first ? There is a ton of Castlevania games and I'm a bit lost... I'd like to buy physical copies but I was told the prices for some opus are a bit crazy, so I'll just use other way (ROM if it's not available on PSN/Nintendo VC).

Thanks :)

careful about openly discussing playing ROMs of games you don't own.

secondly, if you're looking to play Castlevania titles that will be along the lines of Bloodstained, there's no reason not to start where it all began and play Symphony of the Night. just move forward from there (probably skip Circle of the Moon) playing the GBA and DS entries.

Yes that would be the best game to start with since its very accessible for newcomers, after playing a few the other handheld games, give some of the older games a try.....I would say stay away from Lords of Shadows saga since thats a reboot and imo killed the series.

Ok I'll be careful with the ROM talk.
And thanks, I'll start with Symphony of the Night. The price for this game are way too high but since it's on PSN, no problem .

So, because of a work-related injury, I'm not able to really use a normal controller for the time being. I was just curious if there are any decent, not so-expensive, arcade-style controllers for PS3?

Are there set opponents in Mario Kart 8? There seem to be a consistent top competitor against the player in a grand prix. Every time I use Daisy, I'm always facing Waluigi and Peach for threats against my top spot. Are certain AI always destined to be a challenge to certain characters?
