This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

1. I don't know, but it's supposed to be more arcade-y and it reviewed extremely well.
2. I don't think so. I assume they would just open the sealed game to check it, thus it is no longer "brand new" to their eyes.

Yeah, you're probably right. I'll open it and try it later on today.

I'm getting a 4gb xbox360 slim for xmas, I was looking on ebay for some cheap Hdds and see a ton of listings for 250s and 320s from china. Are these legit? Will they actually work or am I just going to get ripped off by buying one of these?

$45 bucks seems like almost too good a deal!

How accurate is canyourunit?

I want to buy Far Cry 3, but if I spent 60 bucks on it, and it doesnt work it will suck.

Canyourunit says I passed for minimum specs, but recommended is a fail on CPU.

Will I be able to run it?

I have a few questions regarding the Mass Effect books (Revelation, Retribution and Ascension)

1. What order should they be read in?
2. Should they be read before, during or after playing the games?
3. Are they canon?
4. Are the other Mass Effect books worth reading, or just those 3?

edit: Just read on wikipedia that the books are set within the game series' timespan.

So it goes:

Revelation
ME1
Ascension
ME2
Retribution
Deception
ME3

Is it worth reading and playing them in chronological order? And should I ignore the existence of Deception?

I seem to recall a PC game that came out earlier in the year that's just exploration based, no combat, around an island with very stylized graphics. Anyone know what its called? It may have been free. Thanks.

Who sets the prices on the EU PSN? Sony? The publisher?

Far Cry 3 is £37 on amazon as a disc based product, I though digital was trying to be competitive?

They say it's the publisher. There really isn't any reason why one should buy retail games from PSN.

Anyone? I'm just really skeptical and would love some help..

I must have had some sort of auto-renewal on for PS+ has they just charged me $50 for another year. Is there any way to get a refund for this? I already have a one-year card ready to be activated.

Is it worth picking up a 3DS XL at the moment when all I really want to play on it is the new Fire Emblen and SMTIV or should I wait for a possible MSRP drop in the new year? (On that note are there any decent 3DS exclusive RPG's/SRPG's?)

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars is a great western turn-based strategy game similar to the original X-Com and Rebelstar: Tactics for the GBA. The 3DS XL hardware is really nice, but the software lineup is still rather weak in my opinion. I mainly bought mine to replace my DSL.

If I sell my New Super Mario Bros. 2 & Super Mario 3D Land game cartridges for 3DS, and buy the digital versions on eShop, will my save data carry over (basically, is the save data on the SD card, and can it be used with both the physical and digital versions)?

I'm pretty sure your save data is saved on the cartridge, like DS games.

For some reason I am unable to connect my 360 to my wifi network. My friend is able to connect his 360 via plugging it into his laptop which is connected to the network, and my PS3 connects to the wifi just fine (as well as my laptop, tablet, phone, vita, and psp). Does anyone know what could possibly be the cause or some test I can do to hone in on the cause? It's really been bugging me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They're bringing out an application to copy saves to your SD card, but I don't think they've given a date yet.

Does anyone know how much a single issue of Game Informer retails for? (in the U.S.) I haven't bought one in such a long time.

Why are Activision charging 20 quid plus for the Angry Birds Trilogy? Who would pay that much for the games when they are so cheap on Android & iOS?

What do you like more, Strategy RPGs or FPS/RPG hybrids? Do you have enough time to sink a ton of hours into Valkyria Chronicles?

See, that's the thing. They're both kind of in my wheel house. I have played a ton of X-Com and I've heard its similar, and good strategy RPGs are tough to find. That said, I recently finished Alpha Protocol and really enjoyed that and Deus Ex seems a bit similar. I'm probably leaning towards Valkyria Chronicles, but Japanese goofiness can be off-putting to me. Will that be a problem in Valkyria Chronicles? As for the time, the more time that can be invested, the better, as long as it isn't filler.

Roommate A and B both have a PS3.

Roommate A's PS3 is broken, so we've been playing his NHL 13 and LBP Karting on Roommate B's PS3.

are we able to set up online play on B's PS3, and then when A gets a new PS3, continue playing online on his new PS3? or will the online pass be restricted to A's PS3 since that's where it was activated??

I don't own NHL 13 but all the Online Passes I've had are found in the download list so they should be available for re-download. So you'd have to sign in into A's PSN account, redeem the code and then download the code again on his PS3 once he gets it back.

Halp!

My bro is a 360 nut, he plays all his games on that (for achievements mainly) but also has a PS3 (which he doesnt dislike). I want to get him the Walking Dead, but I've heard that the 360 version is shit. Is it worth just getting him the PS3 version for optimal experience?

Thanks!

Can we expect to see A No More Heroes and Red Steel sequel on Wiiu? And where's the RPG support? Nothing outside of DQX and MHU announced.

I had zero problems with the 360 version. What are the supposed issues?

And if he loves achievements TWD is an easy 100% game.

Oh really? I heard that the frame-rate was pretty bad and that a lot of people had issues w/ saves ect. That'd be nice if it's untrue! Thanks!

I hardly ever notice has frame rate, so it is possible that that is an issue. But that really wouldn't be a big deal in a game like TWD. Dunno if the save stuff is more of a problem on specific platforms.

I hope so. No More Heroes 3 and a new Paper Mario (preferably a platformer like SPM) could sell the console to me. Of course, I'd only buy it if it reaches a price I'm comfortable with.

Okay here's the deal: I added Bioshock 1 & 2 to my backlog long ago, and tonight I though that I would install them and play some new games.

First I installed Bioshock 1, which got me into the menu, but as soon as I pressed New Game it only played the sound and froze.

So I thought fuck it, let's play Bioshock 2. And after a rather lengthy install, I tried to boot it.
This one doesn't work either! It doesn't even get me into the game menu, but just freezes at the Trademark page (the one with all the rights etc.)

Does anyone have any idea to fix either of these problems.

I checked only but couldnt find anything. It sucks

I'm looking for something easy and fast that I can check every week to see what's popped up on the 3DS/WiiU eShop and PSN. I don't want reviews or massive lists of everything ever; just a simple "here's what's out this week".

Does something like this exist or am I just bad at using Google?

(edit: Bonus points if it's got an RSS feed)
