This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

So, a little while ago, I bought Black Ops 2 for my PS3. Played the campaign, beat it, decided to hop online. I could get to the matchmaking screen (I'm signed into PSN and can recieve messages and all that jazz), but it seems like its FOREVER stuck on "finding a game." At first I blamed the game, then I put in Modern Warfare 3...same thing. Forever stuck at "finding players" at the matchmaking screen. Same for Uncharted and Battlefield.

I've reset and checked my internet dozens of times, the bill is paid for, and all that. Halo 4 still goes online without any problem. So what's the deal? Is my PS3 messed up or something? Cause by all indications my internet is PERFECTLY fine.

So I was playing the uncharted demo on vita not to long ago and I couldn't figure out how to get out of the cell.

I tried everything I could for a few minutes before I gave up and walked away.

How do you get out of the damn cell???

Look for slightly bright colored tubes which you can grab onto and climb.

Just got a Wii U and notice that when the gamepad displaying a black screen the lower left has a bleeding to it, as if you are pressing hard on that part of the lcd. Is this a normal flaw or should I return it?

The internal speakers in my TV are horseshit. I was thinking of plugging in my nice PC speakers to it, but I'm worried the subwoofer being near my PS3/Wii U might damage them? I'm not really sure but I thought having subwoofers near things with hard drives in them would fuck them up. The subwoofer would theoretically be 1.5-2 feet away, if that helps at all.

Would I be safe placing my subwoofer there or should I just deal with the shitty internal speakers?
Can anyone give advice/help?

I'd return it if it's relatively noticeable.

This is at the lowest brightness.

Is "Shadow of Destiny/Memories" much like Majoras Mask, meaning that there are sidequests where you have to come to the right place at the right time, (and having to do the right actions) since the people have their own routines? Kinda interested in this game.

Is there anywhere I can buy codes specifically for the skyrim DLC, online, for the 360? I hate that console makers seem to be stuck in the stone age when it comes to digital gifting T_T

Is there anyway, bar sending files over from my laptop to PS3, to transfer large files over to the HDD? Can't use a USB as FAT32 has a limit of 4gb and the PS3 won't read NTFS.

Just regarding a media server, is there a need to password protect the network or isn't this needed? Sorry if it's a really dumb question, just wondering if a third party could access my HDD's content.

Does anybody know if the Wii U Tekken Stick is regionfree? Yeah, pretty stupid question but I'm in Europe and want to buy Tekken but also want to play with a stick. But the news about the tabletcontroller being regionlocked got me worried...

in Black Ops 2 Zombies Tranzit level does anybody know the limit of points you can out into the bank?? i reached my limit and was wondering how much might be in there

On the note of the Wii U is it possible to make the controller control your cable box?

Looking at various reviews, it appears that's a main part of TVii, though it doesn't work with everything out there. They claim compatibility with everything, but there are reports here and there of boxes that it doesn't quite work with.

edit: NB, mine doesn't get here until next week, and I don't have cable (or any) TV service, so I'm working exclusively from the experience level of "Google Searcher".

edit: TVii apparently uses its own channel grid, not the provider's. This probably generally isn't a problem, but I thought it worth noting.

I actually had a question for anyone who messes around with gaming hardware, recently the blu ray drive went on my ps3 and i was curious if i can replace the drive myself? I know its not under warrenty anymore so if replacing it myself is not an option ill probably look into one of the bundles.

What kind of large files are you trying to copy over? Video files?

Yes, you can replace the drive but you'll need to use the drive board from your old drive and put it in the new drive. Hopefully it's not the drive board that went bad on your PS3.

I got code of princess today. The guy at EB games was trying to tell me the 3ds game card's internal battery might die and lose my save, so I should put extra money on it. I declined as I never bother with it, but I was also fairly certain he was full of shit. I'd heard nothing about that since the GBA's cartridges, and assumed that was the last time that was an issue.

I've tried google, but all it turns up are pages about people losing their pokemon on gameboy game carts. Was that guy's info good or bad?

So I guess I'll ask here since there isn't any thread to talk about this anymore. :/

Can you merge two 3DS eShop account into one? I have all my purchases on my OG but I don't have it with me right now, I only have my XL and I'm interested in finally getting Crashmo right now, but I'm not interested in having my games collection split into two systems, like, could I do the transfer from my OG system to my XL while keeping that one game as well? I vaguely remember it was possible, but I don't want to go blindly on this one.

Stupid gaming question or airing of grievances, you decide.

I've been following the Giant Bomb Game of the Year stuff, and Brad has been talking a lot about how much better Mass Effect 3 is with some of the DLC. This has had two effects on me. Number one, I'm more interested than ever in playing this game. Number two, my resolve is stronger than ever to not by what in retrospect really looks like an unfinished product.

So my stupid question is, why won't EA just release a Game of the Year/Ultimate Edition like they did with Dragon Age? They didn't do it with Mass Effect 2 either. After the Giant Bomb stuff there's no way I'm ever going to play through that game without the DLC.

I never heard of a 3DS cart having a battery so I think the EB Games guy is just trying to get you to pony up more money for the warranty. Yeah, you're correct that GBA carts were the last ones to use such a battery.

Yeah, videos. I've set up a media server now but if there's any other way that you know of I'd gladly take it on board.

I don't have any experience with videos on my PS3 since I use my HTPC for that purpose. I think most people just stream the videos to the PS3 using PS3 Media Server and Plex. I have tried using the Plex Server with my parent's Roku and I was very pleased how well it worked.

You can do a system transfer to transfer everything from your OG to your XL but it'll wipe out everything on your XL. So there's no way to merge the two accounts into 1 since eShop is tied to your console, not a gamertag.

Thanks - what a shady dude, lol. I was going to question him about it, but didn't want to inconvenience the people behind me.

Can someone help me figure out why my brothers NAT is set on Moderate while mine is Open?

We're both connected to the router with our own Ethernet cords.

It's frustrating because he can't join my matches in Red Dead.

Xpadder is for games that don't support controller inputs, not for controllers that may or may not work on PCs (since it would have to supply drivers and I'm pretty sure it doesn't do that).

Anyway, the Fightpad should work fine in Windows, just like a regular 360 controller. Pretty sure mine did, anyway, but I don't have it any more, so I can't test it.

More of a hardware question, but is there any way I can get the 360 Madcatz fightpad to work on the pc? Google has failed me on this one :(

Haha I literally have the same one (YES even the Ken version) right here on my desk, so I just plugged it into my PC for you and booted up Super Meat Boy...

It's plug and play. Windows 7 installed the drivers automatically and it worked just fine. Are you having trouble?
