This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

So I bought a PSN card from Target and they charged me tax here in NY, but I could have sworn just couple months ago I bought PSN cards from 7-Eleven and even some drugstores where they did not charge me tax. So did a law change or did some stores make a mistake?

Because I even asked the Target lady and she said they always charged tax on PSN cards.

So do I need to buy Sniper Elite V2 to get the Nazi Zombie Army add on, or can I just buy the Nazi Zombie bit? It's a difference between £10 and £40, and I don't fancy buying the full game just for the zombies.

I'm wanting to get 3D Dot Game Heroes from Zavvi. However, it's the NTSC version. Can I play it on my main UK PSN Account and still have the patch or does it have to be played on a US account to get said patch?

I think you can. I play of my PAL games on a US account and still get all the patches. There is no region locking after all.

I remember doing an attack in Bayonetta with the Durga weapons where Bayo would get ontop of a lesser angel and stab their face in with the claws. Anyone know exactly how to do it?

EDIT: For more clarification, I think its like the stomping animation you can do on a down and stunned angel but I can't figure it out.

I wanted to take the hard drive out of the plastic shell for an old Xbox 360 so I can stick it into a new 360. I've looked at guides online, but I don't have the right tool to open it up (I have - and + screwdrivers but no *).

Anyone know if it's okay to just tear the bottom plastic off? It seems pretty fragile, if I just snipped the edges with some cutters the thing would come right off. I'm just worried there's a hard-drive connection that I'm going to screw up in doing so.

Nevermind, I found a decent guide (that gets kinda funny cause he keeps trying to do everything with one hand while the other holds the camera):

i'm interested in buying the new mass effect 3 dlc as i love the citadel and it sounds interesting. however i borrowed 3 (for 360) off my friend, so i no longer have a copy.

i'd rather not buy a new 360 copy just to play this dlc but i also have ps+, for which me3 is a free game this month. so i was wondering if anyone knew if it's possible to start a new character on ps3 and jump right into this new dlc or do i have to replay a large chunk of me3 to do that?

Question:

Say I purchase a 3DSXL and make a system transfer from my original 3DS to the XL.

Will my original 3DS retain all my games after the transfer (as well as the XL)?

Well since there doesn't seem to be a Steam support thread I thought I would ask this here... Steam just now ate my money :( I already created a Support Ticket, when I tried to add 10€ to my Steam account over a PaySafeCard like always PaySafeCard said the transaction was successful though upon being redirected to Steam it said "A error has occurred please contact Steam Support." and the funds were not added to the account.

The PaySafeCard is now empty so I can't reuse it and in my Steam Transaction History the transaction is listed as "Pending" So my question is now, how good and fast is Steam with this? I wanted to buy Anno 2070 and the sales ends tomorrow =_=

EDIT: And just now after waiting and waiting and writing this post the funds suddenly appeared... I guess Steam is laggy today :/

Nope. The system transfer wipes the original 3DS. If you turn it back on, it'll start back at the whole "select your language" process.

If you play the japanese version of a ps3 game and earn trophies, then play the english version and also earn trophies, do they show up as two different games in your trophy list or does it recognize that they're for the same game?

some games have the same trophy list and some have seperate, i think catherine, 3d dot game heroes, tomb raider underworld and demons souls have seperate trophy lists for their western and japanese releases

Same with No More Heroes Paradise. I have two on my trophy list... Going to get around and finish the Japanese version one day.

I need some help from the arcade cabinet savvy.

I want to build a controller using a SEGA candy cab control panel. Like the Saturn HSS-0130. I can find control panels relatively easily on eBay, but what I can't find...

... is this.

Any ideas? Where would I get something like this?

I've been using Xbox Live Rewards for years, and never really understood how to redeem to points I had accumulated over the time that I've had it. I've come back to check it now and I've got nearly 2,000Mspoints I'd like to spend. They've never been deposited to my Xbox Live account like it states they will be. Any help?

Hit the forums and start a thread. There are many, many threads from users experiencing the same thing, so it appears to be a common occurrence. I had to do it a year or two back to get them to release a couple hundred points that had accumulated and hadn't deposited for whatever reason. Making noise seemed to help.

It's standalone, you don't need anything else other than NZA itself :)

This sounds really stupid, I am aware of that, but... how can you overcome your fears of horror games?

I tried and tried to play Resident Evil Remake many times although it ended with the same result as ever: I have to stop playing when you turn the corridor and you see THAT first zombie eating his meal.
All comes from a childish memory and I have that part stuck on my head (I think I was six or even less when I saw the original Resident Evil for the first time).

After that, I have played some horror games though such as Amnesia (alone) or Corpse Party with my sister (this one was particularly hard to deal with, she and I could not sleep well those nights).

So there are certain games that I cannot stand: if they are set in more or less ordinary places like a school, mansion, houses, real cities, etc... That is why I could play Amnesia easily and not Resident Evil, or Corpse Party if I were alone.

Any piece of advice? I really want to play some games for the plot, characters, etc... :(

Think about something else while you play, that is, do not concentrate on what you are playing. Like, talk to someone as you play through a bit thats bad, or put some music on and listen to that, do something that breaks your immersion into the game.

Try it.

What is the first console game that put in place an online pass? Was the first published with one of those the first that had announced this policy?

Thats a tough question actually, got to do some digging.

Until then I can tell you when Sony implemented online passes (after seeing how EA's system performed), and that was with the release of Resistance 3 in September 2011. First game that introduced a online pass for Sony games.

However, EA and Warner Brothers (one or the other) was one of the first publishers to implement it but I can't find the specific game.

That's why I came here. Thanks for the info. So far I found that:

EA Sports started in 2010: http://www.pastapadre.com/2011/09/10/the-online-pass-has-not-created-a-huge-revenue-stream-for-ea

Activision started in early 2012 with Prototype 2: http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/activision-reveals-first-online-pass/090504
Note that it doesn't look like a regular online pass as we understand the notion of it, more like a temporary season pass.

I think EA was the first to talk about that policy, May 2010: http://www.gamepolitics.com/2010/05/11/ea039s-online-pass-targets-used-game-buyers

I actually have this problem with the Dead Space games. I love them but they're too damn scary for me so what I do is I listen to the Stern show or funny podcasts while playing so I'm not too immersed.

Are there any games for the PC that are simply relaxing and don't require much thought processing? Something on the level of Animal Crossing in terms of relaxation.

Oh, and bonus points if the game has rain. Rain is amazing.

Sid Meier's Pirates! (the 2004 version), for one.

It's very hard to find video games that are simply relaxing, because so many games are dependent on enemies to create a "compelling" experience. The ones that don't usually require some faculty of strategy. For me, "simply relaxing + not much thought processing" means a game that removes enemies and all possible notions of sudden reaction from the game. It also means a game that doesn't require a large amount of planning / strategizing. So basically, platformers + interactive worlds.

That would be the following:

Knytt.
http://nifflas.ni2.se/?page=Knytt
+ No enemies (maybe one or two little guys, but that's it)
+ 100% 2D exploration + collectathon
+ Heavily atmospheric
+ 100% freeware

Lunnye Devitsy.
http://www.desura.com/games/lunnye-devitsy
+ No enemies
+ 100% 2D exploration + light puzzle solving
+ Heavily atmospheric

Nevermore 3.
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/488613
+ No enemies
+ 100% 2D exploration + light puzzle solving
+ Free flash game
+ Heavily atmospheric

Proteus.
http://www.visitproteus.com/
+ No enemies
+ 100% 3D exploration on an 8-bit island
+ Heavily atmospheric

Minecraft on peaceful mode.
https://minecraft.net/
+ No enemies
+ 100% 3D exploration, crafting and building

These are not PC games, but I would also recommend Endless Ocean for the Wii, Aquanaut's Holiday: Hidden Memories for the PS3, Magician's Quest: Mysterious times for the DS, the Harvest Moon games, and Flower + Journey for the PS3.

Wonderful! Thanks, guys!

SOCOM Fireteam Bravo by Sony for the PSP beats a bunch of them, I think. It had a one-time use code for online play access, early 2010.
