Is there a good freeware video converter that will convert .MOV files to a format compatible with Windows Movie Maker (.WMV, .AVI..) that doesn't drastically compromise the picture quality? I've searched and searched but every video converter I've tried totally butchers the quality, there must be a better way.

MeGUI? Something Awful has a few great tutorials on it.

Not sure if it does MOVs, though.

I know of that videoclip and its not what I'm looking for. Its a crazy ass reggae dancehall party with dry pumping away like there's no tomorrow and handling here like a wheelbarrow around the room. At one point towards the end you can see a couple climbing on the roof "dancing like horny crackheads.

Thanks anyway for trying!

Best software for backing up, converting dvds to my external hd? Tried handbreak but for the life of me I cannot get it to work, win 7 64 bit.

GAF, I have shot a couple of kick in a ball sunday morning. Must say, pretty hard (goal was trying to get the ball airbone over a roof top) and didn't warm the muscle nor the leg at all. No pain in the moment.

Yesterday, heavy muscle pain in the subject leg. No visible bruises, but terrible pain while stretching and putting weight on the leg. Walking normal speed (normal streching) feels like hell. Sitting on a chair, making the weithg of thigh pressing over the muscle, is killing me right now.

Can it be serious ? I mean, serious enough to go and check a doctor (even though, there are no visible bruise ?) Or is it just a musclar pain because of intense workout without warm up ? Why is it lasting so long then ? Can it be an alien parasite eating my muscle down my bone ? Will they cut my leg ? Do my insurance cover alien parasite ?

is it unethical to buy a swan plant to attract butterflies knowing that your cat will most likely eat them all? :(
No -- they're fucking butterflies. They'll be dead in a couple of weeks.

Nah, sounds like you just pulled a muscle. Happened to me after a far too intense biking workout. Just keep ice on the sore spots to numb the pain and in a day it will feel much better.

I was being gross the other day, but a weird word escaped my vocabulary. What's the term for the mixture of
semen and shit?
Savage always uses it, but I forget the term. It's like Sanctum or something to that effect?

If you use Crest whitening strips (or basically any over the counter stuff) to whiten your teeth, how long can you expect them to stay white assuming you don't regularly drink tea, coffee, or smoke?

Is it possible to get a username change on GAF or is it only done when I fuck real good, much like a tag? Who do I PM?
They were kind enough to allow me to change mine to my gamertag. Just PM one.

Does anybody know the title of this book?

I think we read at my school (US) in 5th or 6th grade and it's about a little girl and her family in the 20s in Shanghai China? I remember something about flappers, bound feet and a revolution, but can't remember the title and a google search has thus far been unsuccessful. I think the girl's name was Jean or something like that?

How noisy are humidifiers?

I bought a small one for my room and it wasn't that loud. It was kind like I had a small wall AC unit in my room. Didn't change my sleep patterns at all.

Sounds vaguely like Wild Swans. Though I doubt you'd read that one in 5th or 6th grade...

AV Setup question:

I have a 52" Samsung LCD TV, a Samsung home theatre system/upconverting dvd player, and a HD cable box.

The way i have it set up right now is hdmi from the TV to the home theatre recever, then another hdmi from the home theatre to the cable box. Problem is switching from HD to SD rapidly makes it occasionally lose the digital signal, and i am faced with static. Plugging in the cable directly to the TV makes it switch much faster and cleaner. Is this a common problem with HDMI Passthroughs?

So my two solutions is either:

- to run the hdmi cable directly to the TV from the cable box, and then run another cable from the tv to the receiver, and then a digital optic cable from the cable box to the receiver for surround sound

or

- just set the cable box to upconvert all signals to HD, even SD channels.

not sure which to try.

Basic net connection question:

I awoke today to find my internet connection performing very poorly. Browsing/downloading are all deathly slow, and sometimes, browsing simply hangs in the browser.

I've eliminated my comp as a factor; all devices in the house are moving slowly on my wireless network, and I'm now using my laptop at a Starbucks and it's just fine. I powercycled my router and cable modem. No change.

Streaming, strangely, such as with youtube, seems to load just as fast as ever, once I actually get to a page with something to stream on it.

This has actually never really happened to me before with Rogers, at least, not in years. Possible they're just choking today and things might be resolved soon, or is it possible my equipment (modem or router) are failing?

Please tailor your answers for a 7-year old. When it comes networks/connections, I'm a novice. Thanks kindly!

Ask neighbors who have the same connection or call the company. Doesn't sound like it's a hardware problem on your end, so it could be too many people using the wire in your neighborhood at once or an outage at a service center.

Looking for tips on a good length for retail job cover letters. This will be fired off to Apple recruiters if that helps any.

Attempting the "Inventory," "Specialist" and "Creative" jobs so the letter for each specialisation will play up strengths in each area. Experiences working for Apple stores would also be appreciated (might know more about what they want), because the job descriptions and application procedure are unusual to say the least.

Read a book about this. You'll not get a satisfying answer here. It'll either be US-hate or USA-fuck-yeah bullshit. There's no way to answer your question in one sentence or even in five. Making a list would be stupid as well.

One thing, though. You don't win a war just because you have a lot of active people, and good weapons.
