Anyone here do web design?

I need an e-commerce site, but very basic and simplistic navigation/design/etc, so long as it is functional. I'm not sure what the going rate is, but I imagine we can work something out.

got another one:

Friend's mom has an 80gb ipod classic. When you plug it into the USB cable, it doesn't appear in itunes, nor in My Computer as a storage device. The USB ports work with other devices, and the USB cable works with other ipods. We even tried a second USB cable with this ipod, but still nothing. Also, you can plug the ipod onto a charger and it works properly, so the port on the actual ipod itself seems to work properly.

All of the software is fully updated, and there's no sort of virus/malware/etc on the PC. Anyone know why this specific ipod won't show up/be recognized by the PC?
I had this problem when a friend of mine got their iPod Touch. It wouldn't recognize it on iTunes when we were setting it up in his computer. It would always say it would be charging, but iTunes wouldn't detect it. So we decided to take it to my place and try it on my laptop and it worked...so maybe try connecting it to another computer to see if it works properly? After we did the set up on my laptop, his computer detected it perfectly.

Does anyone know where I can find that drawing of Cthulhu surrounded by a bunch of people in some kind of ritual? It's been posted several times on gaf but I can't find it now.

edit- nevermind

There's some services that come with pre-built sites/templates and a functioning cart. Basically leaving you to do any further design/customization and possible product sourcing.

If I buy the UK BBC Life dvds, will they play on my Canadian DVD player? How about my computer`s DVD drive?

I thought that when you got a male dog fixed, the vet would remove their testicles. Hell, I've seen advertisements for prosthetic testicles for neutered dogs. We just got our pooch neutered and he's still got a full yambag clanking around between his legs. Do they just kinda do a doggie vasectomy these days?

There's still some tissue that remains, and there's probably some inflammation form the procedure. Plus if I remember my canine anatomy correctly, I think the testicles can be withdrawn into the abdominal cavity (I know cats can, can't remember on dogs), so even when he had them they weren't always hanging out in the scrotum.

The US coin was adapted from the British penny/pence, and their values are equivalent: one US cent is 1/100 of a US dollar just as one British penny/pence is 1/100 of a British pound. It's referred to as a penny because... that's what it is.

No. Before 15th February 1971 there were 240 pennies in a pound. At the time the dollar was established we still used 20 shillings to the pound and 12 pennies to the shilling.

Very cool of you to answer. Thank you.

I want to teach myself how to work with Content Management Systems, to set them up, build a website around them so someone else can add pages and stuff.

What would be the best way to do this? Is there some simple CMS i should start with?

Some books anyone could recommend?

I've just started making website for people i know but i want to expand my knowledge.

AFAIK, if they're Region 1, then yes.

Otherwise, you need a converter...or to buy from a North American manufacturer.

Edit: A few DVD players and computers have codecs to play other "Regions", but this is not the norm. Check your product specs.

Okay, say you have 2 lights outputting the same amount of light... Light A and Light B.

Code:
     A B
    / \ / \
   / \ / \
  / X \
 / / \ \
/ / \ \
  1 2 3
Is Spot 2 the same brightness as Spot 1 and Spot 3? I'm fairly certain it is... I'm curious, because it's kind of something I want to know for future photographs.

Wouldn't spot 2 be brighter?

No, I don't think it would be brighter.

A car's headlight beams (which project a pattern just like he illustrated) pretty much overlap with each other, but the main area in front of you (where the lights are overlapping) is no brighter than the area off to the right, where only the right headlight is shining for example.

Huygen's principle. Basically, when you're far enough away from a point source, waves appear to be flat wavefronts, even though they are spherical. So, the sources at A and B would have their intensity add together. (I think the confusion is that you are drawing the light distribution as tight cones, and that isn't the way the light actually spreads.)

Does anyone take pride in their Torrent Upload Ratio?
I make it a point to have a 1:1 ratio or higher. Sharing is caring!

Does anyone other than me always post a title on their replies?
All of my thread replies have titles, and sometimes they are kinda funny.

Second question: What is hell is opa?
Opa-Opa was a prehistoric GAFer who was perma'ed and started his own forums (opa-ages). Many GAF ex-pats (and some current GAFers) post there.

How do you flag a Wikipedia page so that it is considered for deletion/removal?

If a Wikipedia page for a person who is alive has been created and edited only by that individual, and the person is not at all famous, it will probably get deleted right?

If you're at a party and you're kissing a girl for 10 minutes, she then tells you that she's a lesbian and has a girlfriend then you resume the kissing... Is she just promiscuous or expecting a threesome?

Hmm. I guess you're right. That's good to know, because I was thinking about lighting and photography and stuff...

Hm. :( I don't understand that at all. The way I pictured it, light A and B were overhead lights on a ceiling and the points 1, 2, and 3 were on the floor. However, the headlight analogy works as well.

If I buy someone an iphone in the states, can they go use it on Europe's GSM network? What would I have to do to the phone to get it to work beforehand? Jailbreak?

How do single-man-team indie games get made? What software was used to make Cave Story, for example?
Ive done several 'single-man' team games.
I only use free software : Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express , Paint .Net, NotePad++, SDL, TinyXML
In fact im making one right now. (Using those applications and libraries)

Facebook's had some changes to the privacy settings and I now I can't get my profile to appear like it did before to people who search for me. Normally, people could only see my name and that's it. Now I can't seem to hide my profile picture or the groups/pages I'm a fan of. Any help with this? I browsed all the settings pages, but even setting the 'profile pictures' album to friends only doesn't stop the picture from appearing if a random person searches for me.

Interesting. Pretty slow going, I assume? Seems pretty difficult.

Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?

Real question: I recently had to restore factory settings on an ipod, not a huge deal. However, now the Recently Played playlist doesn't show up on the playlist menu on the iPod itself, or on 360 for that matter. It's there and seemingly functional on itunes, though. What gives?

help me korean-GAF, you're my only hope!

I have no korean friends (except for the one who wrote this) and I need to know what it says! Hopefully theres nothing embarrassing in there. Could someone translate?
