And yeah, she's hot.

try this, I found it on another forum:

Get & install Flashget (click here), click on "Watch this video", right-click on "Watch in stand alone Realplayer" and select Copy Shortcut, paste that into Flashget. If you only get a small .ram file, open that with a text editor, copy the .ra link and then paste that into Flashget.

Thanks again, but still no luck, there isn't an option to watch in realplayer for me.
Never mind, thanks though.

How come Chinese restaurants all have a little waterfall going behind the cooking area?

It probably has something to do with Chinese culture believing flowing water gives harmony and prosperity. Perhaps they think such things aid digestion.

eh sorry I couldn't help. I still haven't found a foolproof way to record streaming video. I know there are ways, I just haven't found them...

No no no, not that kind of waterfall. It's completely cold and sterile and practical, it's part of the cooking equipment. Found a pic:

See how it runs down the metal in the back?

Because of the high heat from the burners, that water circulates to help keep the cooking surface from buckling. The water is also for rinsing and quick cleaning woks.

"Birds of a feather flock together" vs "Opposites attract"

Birds of a feather. It's science!

Though, I did hear an interesting take on this. These studies usually only look at long-term relationships. It makes intuitive sense that you'd want to shack up with someone that is similar to you. But for short-term relationships or one-night stands you might be more interested in someone way different from you. The idea is that evolutionarily it makes sense to be sexually attracted to someone who is genetically different from you in order to diversify your kid's genes, mostly for immunity purposes.

"Good things come to those who wait" vs "Early bird gets the worm"

I think most people realize that those are situational. In some cases, it's better to be patient. In others, initiative is beneficial. Knowing what your situation calls for is "wisdom." So, just drink a Potion of Insight and you should be good.

I think what those proverbs teach us is that we have a saying for every situation. They're bound to be right some of the times (otherwise we wouldn't have them). The only use they really have is to provide euphemisms so that we don't have to say things quite so directly. We like to spice our language up a bit with these types of things. That's all.

If a girl asks you, "do you have a girlfriend?" within a short time of getting to know you, is that a sign that they might be interested or are they just making conversation?

Whats the difference between a hotel and a motel?

When do humans stop "growing" (getting taller) usually?

When is a brain fully developed?

Is University of Michigan recognized as a good engineering school?

she's interested, almost certainly.

A motel, first derived most likely as a combination of the words "motor hotel," is best described as a one to three story structure with rooms that open to the exterior of the building, usually surrounded by a common balcony or patio.

A hotel has rooms that open to the interior of the building, along a hallway, and is multi-storied.

got another question, this one specifically aimed at Stuburns:

is the chorus of Lily Allen's Friday Night eerily similar to Sandopolis Zone from Sonic & Knuckles?

I think so.
Yeah, it is a little. I've not played much Sonic, I never noticed. It'd be really hard to find out if the writer was a big gamer too because one of the problems with her first record is it was written and produced by tons of different people, one track has ten writers. The second album is more cohesive. It's easier with a band like Radiohead where you know Thom Yorke was a big gamer and put game reference into his work.

Question:
Why is a "ballsy" move considered a good thing while a "dick" move is considered a bad thing?

Question:
What was the very first human who drank cow or goats milk thinking? What the fuck goes through some ancient dudes mind? Did he just push some calf out of the way and say "let me have some of this shit?"

Human's breast-feed their children, mammals do, too. When man started eating animal flesh, I doubt it was much of a stretch to consume the milk, as well.

How can you get a list of users who posted in a specific thread, along with how many posts they made in that thread? I've seen it linked to before but I'm not sure how to do it.

I thought both men and women grew well into their 20ies or even 30ies?? I was 6'1 at 18 and hit 6'4 at around 20 or so. I guess it's different for everyone but I thought the general age was a bit older.

Why were vegetables farmed, historically? For most of them, their caloric value is extremely low. Did farmers in ancient/medieval times know enough about nutrition to realize the value of vegetables beyond pure caloric considerations?

Is it true that "running up the score" when your team has a game well and truly won is considered bad sportsmanship in America?

I read ana rticle about how a high school sports team got admonished for demolishing another team by over 100 points or something.

I just found it interesting, because whenever I've played sport in Australia, its considered "poor form" and insulting to the other team to go easy once you have the game won.

I think we had a thread about the article in question, though I can't find a link. I believe the story is that the losing team were from some variety of 'special' school.

Depends on the sport. In baseball, since people can't go back in after they're substituted out and no team is really beat until the final out, the starters typically stay in the whole game with the exception of the pitcher. And it's not like you can tell them to not swing at any pitch.

In football and basketball, where games can actually be "won" before time expires to the point where no opposing team can realistically come back, yes it's considered bad sportsmanship to run up the score. Usually, when the game is in hand, the coach will put in the scrubs at some point. Not only does this give the bench players some practice at the real thing, but it protects the starters from injury.

It also depends on the level of play. In high school and, to a lesser extent, college, the coach is more likely to empty the bench. At the pro level, the starters are more likely to play the whole game even with big leads. Plus, when you're getting paid lots of money to play the game, you're kind of expected to man up and deal with big losses. Though in football, if the game is in the bag and only about two minutes remain (and the other team is out of time outs) it's a pretty dick move to do anything but kneel down a few times.

I think the idea is that both teams usually already know the game is won/lost. The only reason someone would keep starters in at that point (and risk injury) is to pad stats and so it's insulting to the opponents from that angle.

A friend and me made a video using Sony Vegas Studio and exported it as a wmv file.

But we want to be able to play the video on a dvd player. What would be the best thing to do to make this possible? The build in function in Vegas to burn to a dvd doesn't work for some reason.

They got tired of roaming around from place to place trying to kill a pig to eat... Hunters / Gatherers and what not.

No, no.
Sadly :[

This depends on how far along you think humans will go. If we hang around for thousands and thousands of more years, than there will inevitably be some huge ass discoveries on the level of the atom not being the smallest thing that allow for some crazy shit to happen, and speed of light space travel could be one of them. We've already flown in space, so I'd hope geniuses of the future could work this out.

But then there's that whole theory about a human flying at the speed of light not aging while millions of years would pass on earth, so if this is in fact true than having a space exploration team may serve no purpose if they have no one to report back to. Maybe that'll be proved wrong too.

Yes, but (all other things being equal) it's worse if the losing team gives up before the game's done. Being a Leafs fan *ducks* I see that all the time.

Pretty sure it's English/romaji with a Japanese-style IDE. Though I'd be interested in the answer too...

The syntax is the same, I believe, same for any programming language.

Comments are usually in JPN, I think.

in RESIDENT EVIL 2, there's a locked door on the second floor of the police station (just near the two statues you have to push to face the middle statue, procuring a gem, iirc) that i never got inside. i've played the game like fifty times.

what the hell is behind that door?

in some sports in australia the percentage of points scored for/against you can be vital to your final position on the ladder, hence really smashing teams and conversely, making sure you don't get beaten really badly, is pretty vital.

You can never open it. And there aren't any other ways to get to that room. Also, It's closed even in RE3.

if you beat all four scenarios without getting hit once, achieving an A rank on each, and then start up an new game, the door leads to Mew.

Where can I go to cash a personal check written to me if I don't have a local bank? The check isn't with a local bank either.

My bicycle's back tire keeps going flat quickly after I pump air into; maybe because of steep inclines. There doesn't appear to be a hole in the tire. What could be wrong?

There is a hole or your valve is bad. There is a tube in the tire that holds the air, not the tire itself.

If you know how to take the tire and tube off of the rim and patch it. If not take the wheel to a bike shop.

To answer my own question: you are basically fucked. I could have mailed it off to my bank, but that was the last thing I wanted to do. I called several of those ghetto, take-advantage-of-people, check cashing places and even they wouldn't cash what they call a second party check. I figured if they wouldn't do it no one would, but I kept calling places anyway. One person suggested I call some super markets. No luck. Walmart. Nope. I'm with Wells-Fargo, but I'm in Wachovia territory. Wells owns Wachovia now and I can use their ATMS as though they were my own, but I didn't think they made enough of a transition yet to cash checks for me. I was right.

So in the end you either have to sign it over to someone you trust that has an account with a local bank so they can go to their bank to get it cashed. Or you can try your luck with a business/establishment that you patronize a lot and ask them to cash it for you, which is the route I went.

I've been working to facilitate a move to Hawaii, as I'd previously kind of mentioned. I intend to sell most everything I own but my portables, netbook, and possibly my acoustic guitar. Everything I bring will be in my suitcase and carryon.

How the hell do I get my acoustic guitar to Hawaii, GAF? I do have a case for it, but it's beat the hell out of and the cover could be peeled right off, do I need to be concerned about that?

So I'm trying to upload a video (~6 min) and it's a .avi, but it's 1.1 GB! Which video format should I convert to for a decent compression rate? I still want above average quality, so maybe .mpeg? I've heard .mp4 are small in file size but sacrifice much quality.

Also, can anyone recommend a video converter? I'm using Prism Video Converter, but its functions are limited because it's the free version.
