I would be interested if someone can point where is the thread\post about game developing, programming, etc where someone did a single post with really good links referred to books, websites, etc. Such an amazing reference for all of us who are interested in programming.

I wanted to save it into my favorites, but I didnt, and now is impossible to me to find it out.

This one?

Are there any 13 inch laptops out there with a decent processor and a 720p display? I can't find any on the Dell, Sony, or HP websites. I tried searching the Asus website, but its nearly impossible to navigate. Does such a laptop exist?

Hmm, almost every 13 inch laptop out there has a 720p display... unless you mean exactly 1280x720 instead of 1280x800?

You can easily fix a power supply, I think one or two people on jonnyguru do it if it is worth it.

It's just heatsinks and capacitors with a transformer or 2.

Any idea of the cost involved? It just seems strange that some guy in a little hole-in-the-wall shop would know how to do this. Not sure why it seems strange, but it does.

Is there an extension or something that lets you upload pictures to tinypic.com (or any good pic hosting website) without going to the site itself?

-edit-
oops, I meant for Chrome. although the Chrome extensions thread probably would have been better.. :lol

Here's one I know some of you can help me with.

Someone I know is very interested in buying my PS2 copy of Marvel vs Capcom 2. It's in very good (pretty much perfect) condition and I'm wondering what price range I should set. Ebay is very random with their prices, one copy is going for 30$ while another is around 100$. I don't want to rip the guy off, but I don't want to sell it for too much less then what I can get elsewhere.

Okay so I recently downloaded C&C:RA3 because I'm a big fan of the series and hadn't gotten it yet, but when I played it the graphics looked awful and I realized the game was running at low settings by default. I think my system specs should allow me to play the game at least on medium if not high. I tried to up the settings but I get terrible slow down. Any ideas what I can do. Here are my specs so someone can tell me if I'm horribly wrong.

Dell Studio 1537
RAM: 4 GB
Processor: Intel Dual Core 2.4 Ghz P8600
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series 256 MB dedicated 1277 MB Shared
Driver: 8.5120.0 (Is this updated? I couldn't find a newer one)
Windows Vista SP2 32 bit
126 GB Free on my C drive
Standard resolution 1280x800

Any reason why I can't get the settings to go to at least medium? Would upgrading to a 64 bit operating system help? I've been thinking about upgrading to Windows 7 because I hear it uses a lot less memory while running. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I didn't realize that 1280x800 was considered 720p. I thought 1366x768 was the only thing considered 720p. I don't know much about high def monitors though.

Today i have a very average hangover, except that I can't drink anything.

Water, orange juice, gatorade, it all comes back up. What to do?

Try chewing ice? It should go down slower than water at least.

in ebays completed listing history most seem to go between 40 and 50 bucks with an occasional 30 and 70 /shrug

Comcast DVR question!

If I want to set up recordings for shows like The Office, which appear on multiple stations, is there a way to make sure it records every New and Repeat episode, but not off the filthy SD channels?

Couple of random questions.

1. How should I go about canceling a credit card? It was a student card, horrible APR, only advantage was no interest for balances under $250.
2. How do I make tabs generate next to their original site and not at the end of the list? (Firefox)
3. Would now be a good time to sell my gtx 260, before nvidia's new arrivals? Though it would reduce me to using a x1950xt, until the 58xx drops to msrp.

Call customer support.

But as long as there's no annual fee, it's better for your credit history to keep it and not use it.

Perhaps someone will correct me if I am wrong but isn't canceling a credit card bad for your credit score? If you don't have to pay any fees/debts on the card why not just cut it up and never use it again?

This was also what I was led to believe, but I was also told they'd cancel it due to lack of use? I figured it would be better for me to cancel it, since there is no balance and I haven't used it for approx. 4 months.

I've never had a card that was cancelled for not being used.

The best thing to do would be to use it for a small recurring charge (such as a bill or gas) and pay it off in full each month.

I've been looking to buy an external hard drive, the problem i've been running into while looking up the best rated ones on Amazon is that when I read the reviews I see a bunch of great ones, then read about alot of peoples hard drive's malfunctioning after a short while or so, the impression I got was that it happened alot and the customer support for them wasn't that great either. I also wondered if maybe the reason was that alot of these people move their hard drives around alot, I wouldn't be doing that, mines would pretty much just stay in a drawer until I needed it. So can anyone recommend a really good one for about $80? Space isn't THAT much of a concern as long as it's at least 320 GB.
Look into getting a Western Digital hard drive. I don't know where you live, but here in California I managed to buy a 500 GB external hard drive for around 90 dollars at Fry's Electronics. I'm sure Amazon or Newegg may have some deals around your price range. Since you mentioned that it will be kept in a stationary place, you don't have to worry about malfunctioning for a very long time.

I need a free program thats converts audio files to .au with this specifications
audio file (.au) format of 8-bit, u-law, and 8-kHz encoding

Anyone know where can I get a program that does that¿ thank you.

I assume you've already tried Audacity?

Yes, it goes down to 16 bit, I need 8 bit.

I only need to convert to .au with those specifications, no recording or playing needed.

Can someone direct me to the "computer help" thread, I've gone back 10 pages and couldn't find it. Probably just missed it.

The question I'm going to ask is if anyone knows how to add a line to a gigantic (20+ gigs) file? I'm trying un-dump a database and I'm getting an error and I need to put in a single line in there but I'm not sure how (Vi just locks up).

720P is 1280x720. Basically, if the numbers are bigger, the resolution is higher.

There's a couple of remakes of Romero's zombie movies. The only remake I've seen is the Dawn of the Dead remake.

Is the Night of the Dead remake from Tom Savini worthwhile? And how about the Day of the Dead remake? Completely shitty or watchable?

It's been a while, but I remember the Night remake being decent. He stayed true to the original and didn't add a whole lot. I'd rather just watch the original, but it is not bad.

Day "remake" is nothing like the original, and is really terrible. I've erased it from conscious memory, but I remember it was not worth watching.

For reference compared to other less than well-received recent zombie flicks, I really enjoyed Undead, and thought Flight of the Living Dead was entertaining. I thought Land was ok, but was pissed all the way through Diary. Maybe if a director I'd never heard of made Diary, I could have enjoyed it, but I expected so much more.

So I registered in hotornot.com and got a rating of 8 (average from 19 ratings), I consider myself ugly or more like a 4,5,6 :lol , so my stupid question that doesn't deserve its own individual thread is: is hotornot.com reliable? :lol

Edit: lol yeah, from what I've seen it looks unreliable :lol

What are the following lines referring to?

Line 1: For we are the dreamers of the dreams
Line 2: wandering by lone sea breakers

The Willy Wonka with Gene Wilder, the quote is "We are the music-makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams"

edit, nevermind i see those are the two lines from the song.

But I'll take a stab at what it is trying to say.

I would guess the dreamers are the ones who engineer/create the ideas that will shape the future. The lone sea breakers are the majority of people who are, similar to ice bergs, moving too slow to do anything worth stopping to take a look at.
dreams=interesting ideas
sea breakers = people who dont do anything interesting

Quick, am I correct in assuming that solid food and water is a sureway of stopping further intoxication?

If it interferes with the rate of the alcohol's (making an assumption) absorption in the upper intestine, I guess it could infinitesimally slow intoxication. I think alcohol is metabolised too quickly for you to do much about it if you've already drunk a whole lot of it. That is, there's no emergency remedy that I can think of.

Anything I should remember going into a negotiation of price where I'm the seller and the purchaser has already committed to buy?

Get as much as you can? I'm not sure I understand the question. Wouldn't someone know the price before they buy?

I believe they're in a position to establish the price. It's a one time thing, an idea, a method, but once sold, infinitely used. Tested, approved, and wanted. I can't describe it further without both giving it away or sounding like a complete douchebag.

Yeah, no clue then. Good luck, though.

Ok I feel kinda stupid asking this, but I've known someone for a few years now and we always acknowledge each other and we'll chat for a bit when we see each other at works. We're both late 20's and male. But I really want to be friends with them outside of those short meet-ups, but I don't know how to go about asking.

I just think it feels silly to go up and say "Hey there, wanna be friends?". I don't know how to properly go about doing it.

Any suggestions?

Why don't you ask him if he wants to hang out? I mean, I don't see anything wrong with asking him to be friends with you, but if you find that to be a little bit awkward just say you want to hang out after work/school or something. Tell him in advance so that he's not surprised or anything. If you guys have known each other for years, I don't think he'd turn you down in hanging out for a few hours.

I just started using dual monitors on Windows 7 and I'm used to moving to the bottom right corner to minimise windows. Is there any way I can stop the mouse from moving straight to the screen on the right?

Also I can't swap sides.
