I'm trying to figure out how to capture video from different sources in order to make gifs from whatever I want. i.e. tv show websites, youtube, etc. etc. I really don't want to be bothering people to do something that I could figure out on my own. I've figured out how to edit gifs once they are on my computer by tinkering around with GIMP, but this critical step of getting my own 'original' material is prohibiting me from doing what I want. I searched gaf via google and saw a couple threads, mainly this one http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=159197 but to be honest, I don't know what I'm looking for.
I also found this one for youtube videos, http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=343856 but it seems difficult, and I really don't know if these are applicable for other sources. Plus both of these threads are from 07 and 08, respectively, so maybe there is new and easier technology out there by now to use.
If anyone has tips about what programs are out there, or what is easiest for them to use, it would be much appreciated. Free programs would be preferable.
