What is the story behind the Red guy, Blue guy, Green guy, and Yellow guy meme?
Evilore posts thread about weird homeless woman somehow sleeping at his place, Wollan uses image editing program to add them in. Wollan gets "The reason I'll never be banned" tag because of incident, gets banned thrice.

The thread should be in the archive.

A gaffer (name escapes me) MSpainted the Red, Blue, Green and Yellow guy onto picture of some random lady who walked into Evilore's and subsequently fell asleep on his bed. Evilore hosted that picture in the thread he made and lo and behold, a new meme was born. It has to be in the archive pages somewhere.
Edit: Beaten
Edit2: It was Wollan.

I need to fulfill my Science Core Requirements in college. I was thinking Intro to Geology, because it sounded interesting. Is there much math involved? Its either that, Chem or Biology, but I have heard those are kind of intense. Thanks.

No.

I took a Geology class once. To my recollection, there was absolutely no math involved. It was a pretty interesting class too. Looking at rocks and stuff. Biology is also interesting. Chemistry...is not interesting.

How is this legal?

Any crust! Any size!

Except stuffed crust! Oh, and extra large (super supreme) costs more too. So much for any crust and any size.

And the subway ads to.

"Any foot long is $5!"

Except half of them.

Why is that legal?

What if it said.

"Any crust! Any toppings! Any size"
*Medium cheese pizza only"

Is that legal?

Can anyone explain the meme about the picture of the fat kid in the band uniform holding a flute, with the legend "My parents told me I could be anything I want. So I decided to become a God."?

The only verbs in the ad are "ends," "order," and "may vary." It never says any pizza would be $10. In fact, it says on the bottom that prices and pizza options may vary.

I automatically tune out those types of ads, because the quoted price is never the same where I live. In fact, those nationwide tv commercials with special prices will usually have a small-print disclaimer at the last split second saying the price will be higher here.

But that's advertising.

I did Environmental Science. It was the science for all the people who suck at math.

I also took Physics as my physical science (?) and there wasn't much math in that either. My professor said that there was no way any of us was smart enough to comprehend physics so why try. We were graded on a curve. I got a 36 out of 100 and I got an A.

What is the meaning, purpose or inside joke behind the Simpsons GIF Ive seen people using for years with the little boy with his head on the desk, flipping a switch back and forth from a green light to a red light.

Is it supposed to convey frustration? I feel like Im missing context.

This just sounds crazy. No math in a Physics class?! That curve is just colossal.

The context is that Ralph is in a focus group; turn the dial to green if you like whatever is going on, red if you don't. Ralph dislikes something (I can't recall) so much that he breaks down crying and continuously toggles the dial to red. It's basically saying that something is really stupid/you really dislike it.

Lost question, so if you haven't seen up to season five I suggest that you don't highlight this spoiler.

OK, so Jack, Kate and Hurley came back to the island and joined Sawyer and the gang with the Dharma inish in the 70's. If they were on the same plane, how is it that Locke, Sun and Ben are in the present time? Or are they actually in the same time period?
Just curious.

If an artist has a new album coming out in June, for example, and if they were to go on tour to coincide with it when would that most likely be? How long before the tour will they announce it? Never been to a concert so I don't know how these things work.

Btw, what is with the new meme of having a red outline around the avatar?

Why is Itunes on xp machine such a bloated, slow, ineffective piece of shit? It's like apple doesn't really care too much about the porting to Windows machine. Pretty much each version works slower than the previous version.

/rant and a legitimate question

While I used it on my XP machine, it worked just fine. I used it almost everyday for listening to music and iPod purposes.

It worked just fine with Vista and not the Windows 7 too if that matters.

Posting this on gaming side, but I guess I'll see what answers I can get here too, as the problem is mostly non-gaming related.

So I had a 120 gig external USB hard drive that recently died. I had installed steam on there so I wouldn't have to fill up my main drive with a bunch of huge games. So when the drive crashed I obviously could not use steam. So I decided to re-install it on my main hard drive, and when I opened it up it said

"Error Invalid Drive I" (which was the drive steam was installed to)

So I'm guessing that my computer thinks I have Steam already installed and can't find the files and won't let me install a new version of steam.

I've tried plugging the drive in and removing Steam and reformatting the drive, but about two seconds after I put the drive in, the computer freezes until I take the drive out.

What do I do GAF? I need mah TF2!!!

Why do I always get sleepy after drinking alcohol?

I get drunk but I never get sick or blackout drunk anymore because I always fall asleep before I get really drunk. I've always been a bit of a light weight but this is on another level. It wouldn't be a problem as it's a good excuse to stop drinking and avoid getting sick, but you see, it's a problem when my girlfriend wants to spend the night. I fall asleep before anything happens! Even if I consciously tell myself not to fall asleep and drink an energy drink to keep myself going, the second I'm at rest, I fall asleep. A deep sleep too; I don't get up until some ungodly hour like 5AM when I suddenly panic as I try to recollect what happened before I passed out. It's led to a couple of fights; nothing that serious but I can tell it's something that really upsets and frustrates her. Drinking less doesn't necessarily help. Sometimes it happens after a few drinks, other times it takes a lot of drinks to settle in and it sneaks up on me. It's unpredictable and coupled with being tired after a long day (I go to bed at 11PM and get up at 7AM everyday except Fri and Sat) it's impossible for me to accurately predict when it will happen unless I don't drink at all. That's the extreme solution but I'm hoping I can figure something out before it comes to that.

Does this happen to anyone else?

It's Apple.

Get Winamp or foobar2000.

Never look back.

Why do most democracies (including the ones the US helps set up) have parliamentary system instead of one more similar to Congress and the presidency?

I know the password for the pdf file. I'm sick of having to write it everytime I open it. How do I remove the protection from the file?
Again, I know the password.

Yeah, I pretty much use winamp. I use itunes to sync my iphone and listen to podcast. Such a stupid program. Also found this, don't know if true thou, but sounds legit:

Hey All, here is the answer as to why iTunes runs so slowly on Windows, especially with an iPod plugged in. The same answer also tells us why we are continually seeing iTunes updates: security (but not for you – for Apple).

If you monitor iTunes with a certain debugger (a program designed to show low-level code other programs are executing while they run), you’ll find that iTunes is CONSTANTLY calling code on the Windows OS to find out if anyone is monitoring it with a debugging program. Windows can usually tell iTunes whether or not it is being watched by conventional means, but the test takes relatively a lot of time and processor power to do. One test every here and there wouldn’t be a big deal, but iTunes is almost constantly requesting that Windows tests for debuggers. This is especially the case when an iPod is plugged in. Hence, iTunes on Windows is extremely slow and sluggish.

The reason behind this? Probably because this way Apple thinks it can keep its secrets hidden, like how it encrypts/decrypts DRM protected music, how it communicates secretly with the iPod Touch and iPhone, etc. The point is, Apple doesn’t want other people finding out ways to play their encrypted music or communicate with their devices. Now, innovative computer gurus are figuring it out all the time anyway, and therefore Apple is constantly changing small things in iTunes to trip them up. Therefore, they are often releasing “new” versions of iTunes for us to download. We think we’re getting bug fixes and new features, when in reality we’re just helping Apple prevent us from using hacks other people have developed to get around iTunes and iPod security.

Anyway, if iTunes 8 were to run in a way that it would not worry about bothering Windows for debuggers, it would fly extremely fast just as in the pre iTunes 5 days. The only problem is that if you want to fix your copy of iTunes, you’ll have to edit the binary executable yourself, which is considered reverse engineering and is against the End User License Agreement.

Moral of the story: iTunes is not slow because it is thinking a lot. It is not slow because its user interface is different. It is not slow because it is complex or feature rich. Many Windows programs do have these characteristics and run surprisingly well. iTunes is slow because Apple believes the sacrifice of speed is worth-while in order to keep us from using iPods and media in ways Apple did not intend. This will only change when Apple decides to either slacken or altogether change their security policies. So, until that happens, I’ll continue avoiding iTunes and the music store at all costs except on the rare occasion I need to back up my iPod.

Who knows if that specifically is true... but it probably does have to do with Apple's proprietary practices.

And I know what you mean about using iTunes for podcasts, but there's probably an iPhone alternative.

Sports-gaf help me out. Today I played a game of soccer, took a break for an hour, and went back out to the field and practiced for an hour or so longer. Now every time I move my legs into the wrong position I'm getting horrible, agonizing cramps. Like the whole muscle that runs down the back of my thigh to my calf is locking up, and its very hard to do anything but stand in pain and try to rub/bend it out. Any tips for getting rid of this shit?

I can never tell if milk stinks or not because it always smells weird to me. I'm not the biggest milk fan. I'm fine with it in cereal and can dunk cookies in it but can't drink it straight.

Put ice on the sore spots. Keep your legs elevated. Rest. Tomorrow you'll be fine.

What is bandwidth exactly? How can companies charge money for it? It's not like water or electricity, and it's not like these companies are "hosting" the internet and allowing us access to it.

Also, why do domain name websites get to control internet domains? When I buy www.myname.com for my portfolio, what am I buying exactly? Why can I buy it from multiple different retailers, and why do they have the privilege to sell it to me?

In other words, how the fuck does the internet work?

Word, it happens semi-regularly so thanks for the tips.

Also after posting I adjusted in my seat and my knees bent just slightly enough to put my legs angled under my computer chair.. and whatdya know the cramps kick it to high gear. I was actually locked in the seat with my legs tucked against the bottom. It's happened to me before, but gd if it doesn't hurt more than you remember. Fuck cramps. :x

Regarding the internet stuff, the internet is based around big internet pipes which can only handle so much traffic at one time, and routers, which channel packets of data around the world. The more of it there is, the slower it is, unless you add more/better routers and lay down more transcontinental cables, etc. That's why they don't want everyone downloading at full speed all the time. The charges pay for the useage as well as dissuade people from going nuts with what they have.

As for the domain name thing, the internet uses something called the domain name system to convert URLs like www.neogaf.com into the IP addresses used between machines. Domain name registrars are companies who are allowed to update the giant internet phone book and then send it out to dns servers so they all know which IP address is hosting the website www.sexygoats.com (or whatever).

I know that organizations like ICANN are the ones who allow registrars to do this, but I've always wondered what's stopping someone from doing this on their own.

I only recently noticed that Photoshop has an option for choosing between 8, 16 and 32 bit color. I use Photoshop and Painter to make various digital paintings, nothing particularly spectacular. Is there any use to go above the default 8 bit color? I seem to have been using that all this time, and it seems that when I open my digital photographs in Photoshop, the 8 bit option is still checked. Bumping my latest drawing up to 16 bit color increased the filesize by nearly 8 times as well.

At certain intersections you're allowed to turn right on a red light if there is nobody coming from the other direction. Is it legal to turn left at a red light down a one way street that's going left?

Nope.

Only if the road you're already on is also one way.

The idea of right on red is that you aren't cutting across any lane, so if you're turning left, the only way to manage that is if both the road you are on, and the road you are turning onto are one way. Otherwise, you'd be cutting across the oncoming lane.

Alternatively, go to Australia.

Oh right, I meant to say that I would be making the turn off of another one-way street. I guess that makes the difference between this being a reasonable question and an "are you serious?!" question :D

GAF, I need help with google groups. I need to access one for a class. Someone made it and sent it to my school account which forwards the email to my gmail account, so I thought I joined with my gmail account via the link they provided, but it doesn't show up when I click on groups at the gmail menu, however it says I'm in the group when the creator checks. Am I just missing on how to access the group or something?

I'm pretty sure there should be a sign if you can, like Left on Red Only After Stop. I can only think of one intersection I've gone through with this; it's pretty rare to have a traffic light at an intersection of 2 one-way streets.
