Could anyone tell me how the devil to quote multiple people in a single post?

Or you can open multiple tabs and copy paste them into one box, but knowing how forum tags work is pretty useful :)

Trying to quit gaf? :D

Most rigorous approach I know would be to edit the hosts file: http://www.mactricksandtips.com/2009/02/editing-a-macs-hosts-file.html

yikes - that looks complicated. i'm gonna give it a shot though.

not trying to quit gaf - the problem's simple. when i drink, i crave coke. it's not healthy (obv).

i've deleted every number i have from my phone book, etc. but when i'm drunk i go to att.com and look at my past call log and text log and find my hook up.

so, desperate times call for desperate measures. i want to make it 100% impossible for me to access att.com

Have you called at&t (while sober :p ) and requested that they delete your past call/text logs?
Dunno if they can do it, but that could help.

Also try making a fake contact which leads to an anonymous helpline on your phone, and if you're lucky you'll forget you did it when you were drunk :) Or it's a stupid idea and won't work, but you never know.

Either way, maybe try calling an anonymous helpline, as they'd have some other strategies they could recommend to help you quit. best of luck :)

yeah, i've tried calling ATT - they're of no help.

haha fake contact is a good idea - but i'd see right through it. i know myself too well.

i've got plenty of strategies for helping me quit - meetings, pysch, etc. i'm just not 100% committed to doing it yet, that's the prob. but being able to block this site would be a great preventative measure.

anyways - thanks for your help

hey GAF
quick question
I was thinking of buying the Sony X-series Walkman
but its 299 right now and a little too much for me.

do Walkmans price drops quickly?

is it going to drop price anytime soon?

or what about a successor?
like within next year?

thanks

iPhone question:

My PC just completely killed itself, before I could grab my iPhone backup files. Will I be able to reverse sync my apps at least once I get my PC back up and running (I'm formatting, and doing a clean install)? I seem to recall iTunes having a "Sync Apps" option but I'm not sure.

I can get my music stuff back, but it's the apps I'm concerned about. Any help would be great!

I've checked Walmart, and I can't find any that are low enough. I'm looking for some like this

On eBay a seller left negative feedback, but the comment was "A+" so I'm assuming it was a mistake. If I contact him can he change it or is it stuck forever?

He should be able to revise his rating.

there's something on ebay that might interest you

...but, no official US releases? So, I wouldn't be able to find one at a local bookstore, for example?

Also, I found nothing on Ebay. The particular arbook I'm looking for is this:

OK.... Since the Iron Man 2 thread turned into another warzone. I guess I'll ask my question here.

What is that dance that Justin Hammer did towards the last half of the movie? Spoiler:
Where he introduced War Machine to the crowd.
Seems like he's doing the Hammer shuffle or something. I want to know how to do that. :x

Edit: seems like a variation of the Melbourne Shuffle... but I'm not quite sure >__>;;;

Can someone explain why it takes render farms hours/days/weeks to render a single frame of film? I mean, in my uneducated opinion, a single frame's quality isn't *that* much higher than a video game frame. Sure, it's obviously better but enough to justify the relatively small difference? :S I don't see it :) Perhaps it's like an oven where the dough gets tastier the longer it's heated? :lol

You will see it when blown up to 70ft. And
movies are art, games are not. :lol

It's because it takes more time to calculate more things per frame more accurately. Things like shadows, lighting, the way lights bounce off, ambient occlusion, etc... where as game has most of those calculations done beforehand such as baked shadows and lightings etc... So for games it sacrifice accuracy such as lighting or shadows calculations in order to gain speed needed to keep up with frames per seconds. Where movies are not real-time, so they can take the time to render out per frame to accurately calculate shadows and lightings etc... to make sure that it's as close to real life as possible.

Also separate passes for those into layers as well for composite later back into whole frame. The render size also makes a difference as well, where game are usually done at <720p or what not, with movies it needs to render out at much higher resolution. So that also gets added into render time.

I hope I explained it well enough. I pretty much went off from the top of my head and from my experiences with render times. Also I'm about to go to sleep. lol

If I'm missing something or wrong on something let me know. ^___^;;;

Thanks, that sounds pretty reasonable. Wikipedia didn't have that much info unfortunately. Man, you really do feel pretty dumb in this thread :lol

If you use Firefox you can also install Leechblock (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4476/). You can choose to block the att website at all times, and password protect the addon so you can't change it when drunk. It even has an option to prevent you from disabling/uninstalling the addon to bypass it.

if i call my friends cell phone long distance but my friend doesn't have a long distance plan, does my friend get charged extra? or is it just like regular minutes for him?

I have a question for those familiar with Amazon. You see, I bought Demon's Souls when it was $35 and it said it I would get a $10 promotional credit. Well I have Demon's Souls now, but how do I know that I have my credit? Because Red Dead Redemption comes out on tuesday, and I would like to save $10. Which brings me to my next point. When I pre ordered Red Dead Redemption, I was promised $20 in promotional credit. But when I got the confirmation e-mail, it didn't say anywhere that I was going to get it like it did when I ordered Demon's Souls and Super Mario Galaxy.

So basically, what I'm trying to ask, does anyone know how Amazon.com works?

Next time you add something to your cart and go to checkout it will automatically register, that is how it worked for me. Had a $20 credit for Mass Effect and scored RDR for 36.99

If you buy another a video game, you should see the credit in your cart on the final screen before check out. It only works for games though.

Another Stargate related question, and yes I know the easiest answer is because if it had been otherwise there would have been no story, but here goes:

If the Asgard had a ship present at the Battle of P3Y-229, why didn't they use the beam weaponry they later deployed on the Odyssey?

The wizard did it.

Does anyone else get painful small callus-like skin on the joints of their fingers? I get them every so often, on my middle and ring fingers. It doesnt feel exactly like a callus, quite different from a callus, no tough or thicker skin, just a dot of skin that sometimes gets thicker and becomes painful to touch and reddens the skin around the area.

Does anyone know how to get rid of them? I usually take nail clipper to the skin and cut out the dot from my finger and let the skin grow back normally.

pics: right in the center is a little dot of skin that is pretty painful to touch and even hurts to bend.

I don't eat out very often but when i do I always think of tips.

why can't restaurant tips be included in the bill, or just raise the price for food instead?

hell maybe just give your employees better pay, when i work on watermains and operate heavy machinery at work i don't get tips for every meter of pipe i lay or yard of earth i load on to dump trucks. i just don't get it. sorry

Actually, this makes me wonder. If an employer is only obligated to pay out minimum wage if someone doesn't receive enough tips, does that mean the employer isn't responsible for matching the employee's SS and Medicare contributions when they DO receive enough? And at which rate would the employer be paying the unemployment insurance?

The point is you're suppose to be able to determine how much you think they deserve. If you get shitty service you don't need to leave a tip, or at least not leave a good one. The problem is a lot of restaurants divide all the tips out at the end so tipping one waiter/waitress poorly (or not at all) means everyone suffers.

i'm sorry - but isn't this really, really, REALLY obvious? you tip based on service - that's why it's a tip.

i can't stand when restaurants include tips on bills for small parties.

why is it up to us to determine their worth, is that not up to the manager who hires them at a set wage?

if i were unhappy with a server to the point that i think they shouldn't be compensated i would talk to the manager and voice my opinion.

lol, this reminds me of that Curb Your Enthusiasm episode with the country club.

you remember those dinky little calculators from elementary school that ran on a little solar power strip at the top? Why has no one put one of those on a cellphone to extend battery life?

Every time you're talking/texting/playing a game in the sunlight, you'd be charging your phone a little bit and extending your talk time for a bit longer, and also reducing dependence on traditional power sources in a measurable (albeit tiny) way.

If you put one of those in every mobile device in existence, and shit, even put a bigger one on top of cars, wouldn't that be a simple way to change our dependence on oil a little bit?
