If I want to buy a relatively inexpensive monitor to play my 360 on in college (so needs VGA) what would be the ideal specs/dimensions be?

What's relatively inexpensive and why just VGA? I got one with 1080p, HDMI for around $150 last year.

$150 would definitely be in my price range, and it doesn't need to be only VGA, it's just I have an older 360 without HDMI. Can you give me a link to the monitor you got?

I'm a med student and I'm going to the U.S. to take a course with a duration of 7 weeks. I leave in a few days so I can't apply for a student visa, I do have a normal tourist visa tho. Can I get in trouble if I say I'm just going as a tourist?

Yep, not only could you be refused, but you could be barred from entering for 3 years, and you would also lose your rights to the visa waiver program if you are from a participating country.

It was this one, but it's no longer available. I'm certain there are other monitors there that can compare though.

Here's stupid question that I really need answering:

How the hell do I make a post? Yes I read the FAQ and TOS and I still don't know why posting threads is disabled. I've been a member of 90 days. Well a Junior Member. Do I need to have 300 replies before I can post or do I have to PM one of the admin staff?

Please answer.

They sound rehearsed because they are highly edited and paired down. They remove all or most of the uhms and ahhs, and a lot of the pauses between questions / sentences / words where it still sounds natural. They'll edit out questions and answers that didn't really impact the interview while still maintaining journalistic integrity.

They're highly produced, and highly awesome. Possibly the best thing on the radio.

Yeah, I like the station too. Thanks for clearing that up!

Yes, you need over 300 replies.

You need to not be a junior. Not sure what the requirements are anymore.

Why is the bottom buttonhole on shirts horizontal while the rest are vertical?

After copy and pasting your question into google:
The traction on shirt button holes is horizontal, so logically they should all be horizontal. However, this would not look good - it would spoil the vertical lines of the shirt. So only the invisible button holes are vertical - the top one and the bottom one. Presumably, if the shirt had a fly front then all the button holes could be horizontal. Does such a shirt exist? I don't remember ever seeing one.

I've been looking for a quote for a while now, or who said it. I don't know the exact quote, but I think it's "what can't be joked about is seldom worth taking seriously", or something similar to that. It might be from a book.

Question:

Why are people on the internet (especially GAF) afraid to use their first and last name? Or better yet show their license plate #? Aren't the odds of a stranger driving past your car and stealing your license plate number for malicious purposes much greater than someone on GAF? For instance in the pick-up thread we always edit names out of the pics. What are the odds someone could really do something with a first and last name and an internet screen name?

You doubt the power of GAF detectives and lurkers.

You severely underestimate people's ability to stalk and find out about others from just a name and another piece of information. It's not even necessarily about someone being malicious, it's just to reasonably protect people's privacy because a Google search alone will give you a load of information. Thus any seasoned community/user is going to be like that, not just GAF. Although I'm sure it doesn't help that you don't have to be registered to see threads and they often come up in search results.

I'm thinking that video might actually deserve it's on gaf thread but it's so hard to tell. :)
After reading what mcrae said and listening again, I've got, "No matter what she does or what she is, she doesn't deserve to get killed,
andeh deh doh sheh (and her dad or shit?)
. No matter what she's done or what she is; if she's on drugs or not."

I have some video files that all seem to be playing at x1.1 speed or something. It's incredibly frustrating. The sound is vaguley chipmunk-ish with everyone speaking a quarter of an octave higher or something, and everything looks just a little too fluid. It's impossible not to notice.

Is there any method of...slowing it down? Or actually altering the playback speed of these files?

And yeah, I've made sure it isn't the player, and tried other combinations of files/players. It's definitely the way these files, and/or the way they were encoded, or something.

Question:

My college don't do Major/Minor... They only degree like "Bachelor in geography" or "Bachelor in communication" that last 3 to 4 years in which you only study in 1 field.

All the other college around do Major/minor.

I have 60 credits which is the equivalent of a major, but this only grants me a certificate (30 credits).

Can I write in my CV "Major in geography" and explain in interview the situation or just certificate because of this stupid system?

I have a question, too (and can't open a thread due to my junior-ness). It's mostly for German-GAF:

Is anyone here living in Frankfurt am Main? I got a job offer there and I'm thinking of taking it. I am currently living in Berlin so I know it'll be a "downgrade". The question is: how bad?

...are you serious? Man, with just that amount of info, I could find where you live and kill everybody in your house. Or use that info to call the cops and report you for driving like a crazy person. Or anything in between. There may be pizzas involved.

Why would you risk that type of personal info being left on the internet where anybody could find it? There are crazy people in the world, and quite a lot of them have access tot he internet.

Let's just hope they never get their hands on a phone book.

On this topic, why do some button up shirts have a little half-sized button on the bottom?

The half-sized button is to replace the a button-down collar button if it goes missing. The big one(s) next to the extra are provided for the same purpose.

The horizontal button hole is to ensure both sides of a shirt remain aligned, as the vertical openings allow a couple centimeters of give.

Wasn't aware phonebooks had license information, or a way to easily cross check names with pictures and workplaces.

Again, why give out personal info for no reason?

MetalAlien: It's "No matter what she does or what she is, she doesn't deserve to get killed, at the end of the day, does she? No matter what she's done or what she is; if she's on drugs or not."

Is there a netflix streaming thread somewhere with recommendations? I'm sure I've seen one before.

I just got netflix for the PS3 and would like some good recommendations.

I need a surround sound system for watching Netflix and playing games on my hdmi Xbox 360. What's my best option for around $150?

How the heck did lawblob get banned?

How the hell did you guys pull all that out of those sounds coming out of her mouth? :lol :lol

Question:

I've been getting more prone to car-sick now-a-days. When I was younger I was able to read while in a car for an extensive period of time. I'm pretty sure the bus drivers have gotten shittier and driving the bus like Initial D. But it's been getting worst. Is there a way to build up some kind of immune to motion sickness or is it just gonna get worst? I also can't play some FPS for extended period of time such as HL2 because of the curvature of the camera. Please help. ;___;

So whats that meme with the fat fat nerd son who watches anime and then the dad is this train wreck?

Its a comic. The dad looks like he is about to explode any minute.

The most cost effective choice would probably be the Logitech Z5500, though it'll prolly run you a bit more than $150. I have it for my bedroom and I love it. Gets crazy loud too, if you're into that.

Most Universities are appx 60 credits for a certificate or Associate of Arts/Sciences degree, and 120ish for a Bachelors, Where do you live/go to school?

Quebec, Canada. Degrees are only 3 years here because we are forced by the state to do a 2 to 3 years community college degree (which is roughly the equivalent of an Associates). So certificates and minors are 1y, Majors and Diplomas 2y and Bachelors degree 3y.

WIKIPEDIA

Students in Quebec who want to continue to post-secondary education must attend a College before enrolling in a Quebec university.Colleges then prepare students for university or to enter a technical profession. Most Quebec university programs are three years in length for Quebec students, so the total number of years of study from primary school through a Bachelor's degree is the same as in the rest of North America. It is also possible to attend a university following the award of a 3-year technical college diploma (these are usually treated by universities in the same manner as 2-year college diplomas).

Here is an article on personal information and privacy that you might find enlightening.

Wierd stuff. You can try editing them in Adobe Premiere Pro (free 30 day trial at their site) and then export them again. Easier would be to get a player that can play them a little slower if you just want to watch them on your PC. I use GOM Player, it has some options to play a video slower or faster if I remember correctly.

Question:

How do i get auto-HD while Youtube-videos are playing?

I always have to choose "720p" but i checked the option "best quality" in my profile.

The same problem with video-size. I always have to click it large. It should stay large and 720p without any clicks.

so..... I've got three-four small sized pimple looking bumps on the tip of my penis. One is kinda of sensitive as its RIGHT at the tip near the hole. I've gotten acne there before, while not being sexually active yet, now I'm kind of scared it might be teh herpz. I've been having a lot of sex and shes on the pill, so we've been having unprotected sex. I just noticed it today, has anyone else ever had acne on the tip of the penis that they knew wasn't the herpes virus? I'm going to get tested tomorrow.

btw, I've also been wearing running shorts that have built in underwear while also wearing boxers, so it might be irritation. I also went to the beach today with trunks that have the built in briefs. I hope its just irritation.
