Why don't they put parachutes in commercial airliners rather than floating seat cushions? Makes more sense to me.

1. I doubt it would be possible for everyone to file their way out of a plane to parachute in an orderly fashion in the event of an emergency. Everyone would be freaking out.

2. Jumping using a parachute is dangerous without training, how are airlines supposed to train passengers? Plus, equipping every seat with a parachute is surely much more expensive than providing floating seat cushions.

3. In the event of a crash, you're probably gonna die anyway. The flotation devices, seat cushions, and oxygen masks are likely there to make people feel safer, even if they're not.

4. Also, most crashes IRL are not the kind you see in movies--there isn't a ton of time before the pilots realize a crash is imminent to prepare everyone to evacuate. Usually kind of an "Everything seems to be OK..." *10 seconds of utter panic/realization* BOOM. Not enough time to parachute to safety.

Perfectly reasonable that you can get punched and reach around to catch yourself on the edge of the plane. Harrison Ford has been doing that for 20 years. 500 mph winds won't stop him.
You must wait until you are going 200 mph and at 10,000 feet.

When you take long intercontinental flights, they'll have a monitor and it'll tell you the temperature outside: 5-10 degrees. It's cold out there buddy. I'd rather take the hot fiery death.

5-10 degrees wouldn't kill you. Now, the lack of oxygen...that might do it.

I`m in Japan for a 10 month exchange and just saw the new iPod Touch. It seems very interesting to me.
For my exchange program, I was told not to bring a cell phone or laptop because it will ruin the immersion if I use them too much. Most people brought their electronics anyway.
I have a DS for games and Zune HD with me for music, however, I am kinda considering the new iPod Touch. I am using my Host Families 10 year old laptop (Compaq Evo 1020v) and I don`t want to annoy then by using it too much, as the house is very small, I don`t want to take up space. Should I get something like the new iPod for my internet needs, along with some games, and just get iTunes on this laptop to set up the iPod? Or should I get something more like the Galaxy Tab?

Also, I found out that I need to take a course online as all Albertan students need to do it.

I accidentally deleted a folder on my external hard drive. It's FAT32. Tried those recover file programs, didn't work. I have a hex editor open now, how do get my folder back? =(

I know the names of the file and the folder name.

In my experience, it's when you quote something, the enter code to get back to the line got messed up in the page form but you can't see it and it appears like this only when you post.
