I bought an LG Blu-Ray Burner...it is SATA.

Normally that would be fine, but my Mac Pro's optical bays are IDE.

I have two choices:

1. Buy an enclosure, USB 2.0, put burner in there.
2. Buy IDE to SATA, and keep the burner in the Mac Pro.

There is actually a third choice, the Mac Pro has some SATA ports on the MB that you can use, but it involves tearing the system apart a bit and I don't really want to do that.

So which should I do, GAF? Would I lose any performance by making it into an external? I like the idea of being able to burn on the go.

Buy an enclosure with firewire (cable and plug), all macbooks should come with a firewire port, faster transfer rate through a firewire cable than usb. You can also go through USB if you don't care about the transfer rate, whatever tickles your fancy. Hope this helped.

Although, just make sure you have a firewire port, google it, although you should, I have one on my black macbook from 2007.

Anybody know how to set up a wireless router to a computer with vista?? how to set it up and do security settings and stuff??

any good sights they could recommend with instructions and walk threws??

i asked someone to walk me threw it over the phone and he said he couldn't cause it was a vista........this dude has been lagging it for over a month.

GAF you never failed me before. PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

(haven't been to my buddies house to do this yet but trying to get as much info before i go there :D)

ok more info: he use to use the router before at a previouse house and he remembers said guy only took about 5 or 10 mins setting it up and he also remembers him setting up an administration ip and passwords and stuff.

so........

since hes living somewhere else and has a different internet provider is that why its not working anymore??
doing what was said above (googling for administration ip etc etc...)make it work now or should that allready be good because its been hooked up before??

hes also saying that when he tried to do it himself at the new house that its saying that vista is blocking him...
anybody ever here of anything like this??

Well if it's a hardware router like I said (seems to be), you should be fine and all you need to do is hook it up properly and then use your wireless device to find the router. There could be some issues with it being a hidden wireless, though. Meaning you'd need to get into the router and turn it off or get the key from the router (first option is way easier). Routers are not dependent on anything except to have a modem to connect to, but even still. You should be able to connect to the router even if it isn't connected to anything. You shouldn't need to make visa passwords or user accounts to use the router.

Alright I'm working on a blog. I currently write my articles and another person just goes around and copies entire articles and then post a link to the article source at the end of the article. I'm currently against this because I see it as taking away from potential visitors to the original site and therefore decreasing ad-revenue.

My question is that copyright infringement? I believe you can copy one article from a newspaper/periodical but does that the same for blogs? A blog is continually on going so would that mean you can legally copy one article ever? I'm just curious if me refusing to copy and past articles is legally right or just morally....or even unfounded.

Very interesting, thanks a lot.
Time travel was also a plot device used in Alien Exodus, a canceled and thus non-canonical novel. In Alien Exodus, the humans of the Star Wars galaxy are revealed to be the descendants of a group of refugees from Earth whose ship accidentally traveled through a wormhole. This wormhole took them not just to another galaxy, but to another time, billions of years in the past: in other words, they found themselves "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away."
Wow!

Stonehenge - I assumed that everyone had heard of it, I was watching the amazing race (don't ask) and one of the girls didn't know what it was. I thought that was pretty surprising and got talking to my roomate about how someone couldn't know about Stonehenge, we ended up betting that one of the girls in our office wouldn't know. Sure enough she didn't (even though she watched the same fucking show!). I asked few more people a couple had no idea, one new it had something to do with rocks and another new it was something in Europe. Am I surounded by dimwits or is Stonehenge not as well known as I think?

Is there any program that will help me keep an eye on the bandwidth usage of a housemate who insists on downloading HD movies from Chinese servers in traffic-restricted hours?

Is it normal for a friend to be devastated over a death of a friends parent? I mean to the point where he's been getting drunk non stop and stopped going to work.

Well if they were really close and he looked to him/her as a father/mother figure then yeah its normal. If not then thats...odd.

No he wasn't. That's why I felt it was a strange reaction. I mean being their to support your friend who lost a parent is normal, but lamenting it like it was his own family members death just feels odd.

No. Those look like multi-way binding posts. You'll probably want to connect a bare speaker wire, or use banana plugs.

Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for. Actually, my speakers only have an RCA connection available. Are there cables that go from bare wire to RCA?

Just got Win7 and am getting an 'Allow / Don't allow' box pop up every time I try to Ctrl+V. How can I 'Always Allow'?

are you an administrator? where are you copy and pasting? Win 7 has several areas that requires admin approval such as program files, directly into C: Drive, and obviously the system files. There is a way to turn of UAE but it is not recommended and I really do NOT recommend that.

Win 7 prefers you to copy and paste your things into your User folder like (Documents, Music, Download etc)

However if you do not want to take this recommendation, you can turn off the notification in the Control Panel.

I have a frame with a mat that has an opening of 16" x 10 3/4". I can't find any site that prints photos in this size. Would I need a custom printing or do I have other options? Any online photo printing recommendations?

This could maybe warrant its own thread, but I'll try here first...

I had a job interview about 10 days ago. At the latest I was supposed to hear back from them early this week. I haven't heard a thing yet.

Now, I was asked to send a list of references which I did on the same day as the interview. I never got a reply back, but one wasn't necessary. Now I haven't heard anything from the employer and e-mailed them about 5 hours ago asking what's up and haven't heard back yet. Weirder yet, I spoke to two of my three references and neither has heard from the employer.

tl;dr, government employer taking very long time to get back to me re: job, hasn't responded to e-mails, and hasn't contacted my references at all.

So I suppose my question is:

What the fuck?

So what connectors are those where it says speakers? Can I just plug a normal pair of RCA connectors in there?

No, don't use RCA. They won't work. Those are Banana Plug connection types. Also, hard to tell from the image, but if they can loosen/tighten you should be able to loosen them up put a raw cable end in a hole in the shaft and then tighten them back up.

Edit: Beaten by Ding up above.

Through some internet snooping it appears the t's are supposed to be upside-down f's. Stupid, I know.

That still makes zero sense since there are 6f's and 6t's in that sentence :lol

This is just a troll, no?

Similar to this:

Count all the F's then scroll down for the answer.

Wrong, there are 6! Count them again

Would it be worth trying to file for unemployment? The new GM at the place I work cut my (and everyone else's) hours at work, but cut mine pretty severely. I was working enough to make about $800 a month but since he cut me down to 7 hours a week, I'm making a pitiful $200 a month, which is not enough to pay my bills. I haven't been successful in finding a new job yet, and the money in my bank account will only last for so long, so I'm wondering if I'd be eligible for unemployment.

Go to the control panel, then into 'user accounts', then 'change user account control settings', then move the bar down to 'never notify.'

Whoa, this fooled me. Is there a reason for making this mistake?

Depends on your state.

Two questions :)

That message box on your front page on facebook has gone missing for me. How can I get it back? :( I can still make status updates, post a link etc, but open messages for everyone to see, is impossible for some reason.

Also, what happened to that cool scene in the Predators movie trailer where Adrien Brody have like 20 laser sights pointed at him? Didn't catch it during the movie. Cut out?
