I have a couple of questions about Yakuza 3.

- What kinda game is it? I'm under the impression that it's kinda like an open world game where you can go around doing missions and stuff. Not exaclty like GTA, but you know. What other game does it compare to? Etc.
- Is it good?
- Should I wait for Yakuza 4 instead?

I've never seen Tron and all the tv spots for Tron Legacy kind of make me want to see it. Does it still hold up today?

Can someone please tell me what song is playing at 01:47:20 in that Talkradar Podcast episode? The say the name of the band and song afterwards but somehow I don't understand a thing (English is not my first language, you know ;) )

wrong side buddy. But I'll answer your questions for you anyway
-It is an open world action game with some RPG elements
-Can't really compare it to any game off the top of my head, maybe a 3D beat 'em up in the vain of something like streets of rage minus co-op
-Yes
-Why not get it while its cheap, play it, and then buy yakuza 4 when that comes out.

I have a question:
I've realized that my posts are really starting to decline in quality, they were never really good to begin with but I'm actually starting to get embarrassed at some of the things I type now. Almost as though I know I'm writing something stupid, but I don't care and then I look back and then I'm suddenly disappointed. Should I take a break from GAF?

I'm paying people. Still, I don't want to look like an ad, at all. I want honest input and see if anyone's interested in writing for us. But I'll probably wait on making a thread.

Just PM Evilore or a mod about it. Better safe then sorry. That way, even if people give you backlash you'll have a leg to stand on.

I just noticed that some of my gif files have turned into jpegs. How the heck did that happen? Is it reversible?

If changing the file name back to .gif makes them animate again, then yes. If not, then no.

Only way I can imagine it happening is if you did Save as... and selected .jpeg rather than .gif. Or if you saved it through some program that only does static images. Maybe...Rotating it in some picture viewer?

Make sure that the extensions are correct. Open an image editor and look at the properties. I think IrfanView will tell you if an image has the wrong extension.

I think that Fido is still going strong... what happened to Cool Spot

How difficult is it to join/try out for a College soccer team in America? It's no where near as intense as the likes of Football and Basketball surely?

If, for example, someone was going over to the states for a year exchange, what would be their chances of even trying out for a team? I need some kind of sport to get me through the year!

Depends on which school and on how good you are. Like, if you're going to a top D-I school and you're not already being recruited, even if you successfully walk on you probably won't see the field.

If you're just thinking of playing a sport for fun, there's always intramurals.

What can I do to control the dust in my room? No matter how much I wipe down everything, there's always a layer of dust on everything.

So every winter, once it starts to get cold my hands and face start getting dry and chapped. The backs of my hands get so bad that they'll just start bleeding at random spots. I know that that's just an effect of the artificial heat and dry air. Oddly though, in the most recent few years it seems like only my right hand and the right side of my face have been getting it badly. My left hand seems pretty much unaffected now. Why would only one side of my body be getting so dried out?

any body ever done weather balloon? what did you use for tracking? any cheap gps suggestion? this is for university club. baloon will go 70000 feet or something and will take video of earth.

So I know what it means, but I want to know the derivation of 'rain check' or 'reign cheque' or whatever it actually is.

I like the questions you ask.

American baseball fans will be familiar with the term, as that is where it arose: when a game was rained out, those who had tickets for that game were given a rain check which they could redeem at another game. That might explain why efforts to prevent a baseball game from being canceled by rain (and rain checks issued) are so prodigious: covering the playing field with tarp, keeping the fans and players waiting as long as possible to see if the downpour will end. The term was soon used metaphorically, and by the 1970s it had spread outside the U.S. and into other English-speaking countries. The use of the term as early as 1884 gives some indication as to the popularity of baseball in the U.S. even at that time: "The heavy rain yesterday threw a damper over local operations. At each of the parks the audience had to be content with three innings and rain checks" (St. Louis [Missouri] Post-Dispatch 26 May).

I got a quick question for anybody who's familiar with health and fitness. What's better for staying in shape: a 2km run or a 6km walk (a day)?

imo, if you're willing to spend the time on a 6km walk... which would be at least an hour, why not just spend 30 minutes running and see how far you can go? (at least 6km in 30 minutes probably, once you're at a base level of fitness) just start at 2k.

my question: what is it called when the members of the band all sing the lyrics at teh same time, and its like an echo effect? lots of examples in this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sSAP1mrhjc i remember my roomate telling me there is a specific name for it, does anyone know?

Some believe that low-impact exercise (keeping your heart-rate down) is more efficient in losing weight. That's what gym machines would have you do anyway.

You mean harmony/harmonizing?

Also... I dunno about that example, dude. :/

as in, the song is a piece of shit? :lol

ill try to be more specific: at 1:35 where they sing "save your day" then at 1:40 "Break,
Break,
Break,
Break,
Break it up
Shake,
Shake,
Shake,
Shake it up
We know,
We know you all too well

We know you all too well "

just harmonizing? i thought there was a more specific name

Why does OSX become non-functional whenever any browser I use (Chrome, Safari, etc) has to load a .GIF file? The thing freezes and stutters like crazy, lagging the entire computer. Sometimes for up to half a minute after closing the window that had the .GIF file. God forbid I somehow manage to stumble upon more than one .GIF on the screen (like what just happened in the NPD thread).

And how do I stop this from happening? It's becoming fucking ridiculous and makes browsing forums nearly impossible. I don't really want to disable images since a significant amount of my forum browsing is done on my laptop, and disabling images kills half the fun of forums =|

What Macbook are you using? I have a 2.2gz Whitebook and it never gets that bad. And I do a lot with gifs.

I have a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook with 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, running OS X Version 10.5.8. I got this about three years ago.

I've seen some people say either;
1) Need more than 15% space available on the HDD -- I have like 40% available.
2) Safari is the issue -- I've tried multiple browsers and it happens with every one.

If the browser has a .GIF on screen, even if minimized, the computer becomes completely unusable. Even small avatars can cause this.

That's weird as I have a 7 year olf PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0GHz and when using Safari and .gif's appear it completely locks Safari for 30 seconds or so but everything else runs fine. I had no choice but to switch to FireFox:(

Could someone pleeeeeeease help me out here - I'm having trouble with Ticketmaster. I can't seem to search any events. I keep getting an error message. I have adblock off, java blocker off, etc. I have tried in Explorer and Firefox and I can't seem to search available seats. I can't even log in to My Ticketmaster account.

Don't buy tickets from Ticketmaster.

Problem solved.

Hiyoooo!

Unfortunately its the only place to get the ticket I'm looking for. Turns out persistence was the trick as Ticketmaster is just fucked in general and occasionally borks but then comes back.

Not sure, I've had that problem using Chrome a lot, sometimes with safari, but I use Firefox mostly and it doesn't happen then.

I switch between operating systems and whatnot a lot and am tired of either losing my email address books or them not being synced correctly. Today I solved it by putting the files on my Dropbox and symlinking them to their respective folders.

Is there any easier way (that is, not including setting up network shares, keeping them on an external harddrive or similar)? I'm using Thunderbird mainly, but I might be interested in switching. I didn't find any cool extensions.

Anyone else think Layla Jade (yes, her name suggests her profession) is awesomely hot in a filthy way ?
A quick google shows me a filthy harlot that reminds me a bit of Melinda Clarke. I would happily give her some angry sex, followed by absolutely no interaction whatsoever. So yes. Too bad about her awful boobjob though.
