That was just a scout flyer, their smallest ship. The damage the drag caused was probably tiny, it was jamming the source that made it go down
.

I'd assume it's some sort of malleable material with a high impact strength.
It also gave us one of the best gags in the movie "
You missed a column
"

Well done! You just decapitated your grandfather.

(Spoilery post) Liked it, but I will say that
Thor's plan was incredibly idiotic...

Thor: Hey Odin, a ton of Asgardians are probably going to die if they attack us again, even with the full force of our Asgardian army, so here's my plan:

Thor: What if, just hear me out, what if we went to them, and attacked them?

Odin: Oh, good! So you have the element of surprise!

Thor: Err, well, not really. I plan on bringing Foster with me. You know, the girl that has the all-powerful Ether inside of her. The thing that the dark elves want. I think he can sense her presence. They'll know we're coming a mile away.

Odin: Then that's a terrible plan!

Thor: But wait, wait, I'm going to wait for him to pull the Ether out of her, and then I'm going to destroy it!

Odin: With what?

Thor: My hammer of course!

Odin: You're going to destroy an all-powerful universe-busting fluidlike material with... a lightning hammer? This is a terrible idea and won't work. I say we just let them come to us and retaliate with the full force of our army. I mean, there's only like 50 of them left. It'll be a massacre.

Thor: Yeah... I figured you'd say that. That's why I'm breaking my brother out of jail and bringing Foster with me. My awesome teammates are going to cover my exit so they won't even be fighting with us. It'll just be me, my douche of a brother who I'm positive will betray me, and a scientist with no combat experience whatsoever.

Sounds like a fantastic idea, right?

Yup. And that's why Odin is the King.

That was awesome! We just got back. Lots of lovable characters, especially Loki and some great comedic moments. I wish all comic book movies were this entertaining.

Loki is the best part about these movies, better then the first but the human shit with Kate Dennings and all the other people feels so stupid and weigh it down.

I didn't get why Loki was such a beloved character after I watched Avengers and was terribly unimpressed with him. After seeing this movie today, he was easily the best part and I see why people like him.

My dad saying I'm more like Loki and my younger brother more like Thor...that hurt lol

Loki was also decent in the first Thor movie even if he was the main villain.

I think I was nerding out over the credit ending after I realized that the aether was an
infinity gem
that I didn't connect the dialog to how the tesseract was one too!

By the hammer of Thor, I love these marvel movies. It brings the comic books out of me.

Yeah, I like this too, though,
I want to say it's a bit of a shortcut, to make these 2 infinity stones, as the Tesseract is the Cosmic Cube, which is different than the Infinity stones, but it makes the stones a more "manageable thing" in the movie universe. Simplifies it into something people can understand.

I say all that as someone that isn't a full on Marvel buff, but it's what I've gathered from wiki/comicvine reading, so I might be wrong on this

I did like the move, and I really did like the warping premise of the last battle quite alot.

I just assumed that
Thor didn't know it was indestructible.

Poor communication kills, after all

And that the elves couldn't sense the aether. I don't think Odin knew about that one either. But they have no excuse for not telling Thor it's indestructible.

I agree Loki is the best part of all the thor movies and the avengers (hulk is close)

Best marvel movie villain by far. Tom Hiddleston does an amazing job.

I liked this movie quite a bit. Checked all the standard blockbuster boxes and executed above average in all those areas. Lots of funny moments, lots of fanservice, lots of Loki, lots of action.

The dialog is a downgrade from the first, and the film is not as artistically solid. The villain is paper thin, the pseudoscience is just shamelessly dumb this time, and the plot is just kind of there in the background. The Shakespearian overtones are gone, obviously, since Kenneth Branagh didn't return to direct. I liked the detail that Taylor brought to Asgard though.

However the fanservice, the vastly superior action sequences, and the Loki made it a very enjoyable experience nonetheless.

I really enjoyed this. The Thor movies are just so fun. The dynamic between the characters is so entertaining. The whole Game of Thrones meets Star Trek aesthetic is hilarious. I loved every second of it. And this movie was Loki at his best.
Good way to describe it. I kinda thought of it as like the 1980 Flash Gordon film, but with more money and better effects.

Saw it tonight and enjoyed it for the most part.

I know it's a shit complaint, but
I know these movies have to be on their own, I get it. But it annoys me to no end when the Earth (and universe for that matter) is faced with catastrophe? The rest of the Avengers are taking a nap. I could get over this notion when they were fighting in Asguard or elsewhere given that the Avengers would have a hard time getting there. But London? Come on.

I know I was definitely hoping when Jane & Thor were about to be crushed by the ship that Iron Man/Hulk would fly in and move them out of the way. Drop a quip about how he had errands to run first or something, and be done.

But hey, all in all? I don't regret going, I enjoyed myself nonetheless. Humor was spot on.

I was totally expecting the post credits scene to be
Tony Stark and Banner arriving in London to save the day.

Just got back. Totally loved it.

Maleketh felt underwhelming and they should've spent more time fleshing him out, but other than that, my initial impression is.... well... yeah, it was great. One of the best ones yet. Great work by Alan Taylor.

So this was the best starwars movie we are going to get for awhile. All the sounds and lasers and battles and stormtrooper looking people. Now my pants are wet again.

I thought it was because
they didn't know how to remove the weapon from her body. But the other guy did, so he wanted him to remove it and then kill them.

This is exactly it.

Thor's plan was still mindbendingly stupid, but he wants to keep Jane alive (which even if the elves attacked and lost wouldnt have happened) and didn't realize the Aether was
an infinity stone
and couldnt actually be destroyed.

On that last point, it seemed like Odin knew this but didn't bother telling Thor about it.

I really liked it. Gonna be disappointing when Marvel finally releases a stinker.

I missed both teasers because I had to pee. Really, really bad. Like the whole last half of the movie . And then when I went it lasted for like 3 minutes. It was a lot of pee.

Also, Thor explicitly states that he wanted to bring the fight to Svartvelheim so that more Asgardians wouldn't be killed in another attack.

There were 2 end credit scenes?

I saw the mid credit,
with The Collector

but I missed the second one.
can someone explain it for me?

1) Thor returns to Jane following her group breakfast and they kiss.
2) Ice monster seen chasing birds around the docks where the portals appeared.

Your answer is above, but it really wasn't worth staying an extra five minutes for anyway.

But next weeks episode of Agents of SHIELD (Nov 19th - The Well) ties in with the events of Thor 2, and by the sounds of it, that could be the most likely scenario to tie the 2 things together. So i needed to make sure I didn't miss the tie-in portion, even though I'm sure I would have remembered that part regardless of staying till the very end.

Better than the first by several degrees. Loved the Dark Elves' aesthetic. Very Necromonger.

Fixed.

Friends, this was not a good movie. Remember how the Avengers was the story of Stellen Skarsgard using science to close a portal pouring bad shit from space to Earth?

This was the story of Stellen Skarsgard using science to close a portal pouring bad shit from Earth to space.

Natalie Portman could've been replaced by a bucket and the movie would've lost nothing.

Why the fuck does Norse Space Mongolia exist and why did we go there. That whole aside never paid off except for one cool uppercut. I guess we were supposed to see Thor saving the yggra-verse, also that the space goop was imperiling a lot of our friends? But then we don't hardly give our Space Mongol friend any lines?

Chris Hemsworth was handsome and Tom Hiddleston charming. Kat Dennings was lovely as always and the Cap Cameo killed. This movie kept gesturing at being good but just couldn't get it going.

And how fucking impenetrable was the creditscene? Two "characters" whose name nobody knows bring a rock nobody's seen to a man nobody's heard of.

Fun movie really. Had a good time. I think that last fight could have been a bit more 'epic' tho..at least the way it ended. But yeah all in all was great

Dat cameo haha

No different than the end of The Avengers when a Creature/Man that no one knows, turns and says something and smiles at the camera.

They still haven't explained who that is (even though us internet informed are aware) and who that was at the end of Thor will likely be explained in GotG, just as Thanos will likely be explained in Phase 3 (and possibly in
GotG as he supposedly makes a cameo
).

And and we had seen the rock before.... it was just much larger the 1st 2 times.

Yeah, that Avengers one was also stupid, but at least it looked like "hey by the way we'll address whatever was pulling the strings behind Loki", this one was "hey uhh there are five McGuffins for you to not care about".

At least all the earlier ones had Sammy J in them. Sammy's exciting in his own right.

In the end of Thor 2, we know who they were (even if we don't remember their names), we know what they gave (as we saw it in much larger form at least twice before in the movie), we just don't know who they gave it to.

and just like Thanos, that will be explained later (and probably sooner).

Incidentally, I love the Necromonger aesthetic.

lol. Me too! Malaprop's headgear was right out of the Lord Marshall's playbook. And that monolith vertical ship was straight Chronicles of Riddick.

I loved the visual design throughout actually; Asgard continues to look great.

Caught the movie today and thought it was mostly average. There were some fun elements here and there, but I think this may be my least favorite Marvel film save the Hulk movies. I didn't hate it, I just didn't find much to get too excited about either. It was a solid, mindless action movie but overall kind of forgettable.

Movie is insane. Like a mish mash of Star Wars and LOTR with Idris Elba and a rainbow bridge thrown in because reasons.

Natalie Portman nearly ruined this film though.

Great comic book popcorn flick. Loki oozed charisma as usual. Thor and Loki had great chemistry. Malekith was an ok villain. Portman, Hopkins, and Russo phoned it in. Dennings with a disappoint amount of cleavage shots (which is zero).

Really dug it. Had some continuity flow that seemed off occasionally but it was another fun Marvel movie. That GotG tease gets me excited for a wacky star wars type adventure. Thor seemed almost like a He-Man film with some of the battle scenes too.
