Wait, what?
I think that WAS Frigga. She has the illusion power too, and it's implied in a later scene she taught it to Loki.

Loki definitely learned his illusions from Frigga, but the scene of
her in his cell happened so soon after Odin stated that he would never see her again, I thought it was clear that it wasn't her. This was reinforced when Thor demanded no more illusions, and we see how broken Loki is (and, really, how few books were actually in his cell, compared to the massive stack he supposedly was receiving from Frigga).

My wife also saw the scene this way, so I know I'm at least not the only one who did. I can understand seeing it the other way, but I think it makes the scene far more poignant if it's
Loki having to create a false conversation. It also explains why she disappears when he reaches out to her. Having fooled himself with his own illusion, it falls apart when he's unable to touch her. If it were her illusion, the image would remain until the conversation was over (which it wasn't).

Excellent. One of the best Marvel Studios movies ever. It's simply incredible how Feige is able to keep this ship running.

the Loki/Captain America scene. <3

Saw this this afternoon. Really liked it.
Much better than the first one in my opinion.

Loved everything between Thor and Loki - wish there had been more scenes with the two of them, the highlight of the movie for me.
Loved everything on Earth, and the "Earth cast."
Loved the final battle.

Indifferent to Portman. Bordered on too much for me.
Not the biggest fan of the Asgard stuff. Kind of boring.

Really liked the movie.
I watched it mostly for Eccleston
and Kat Dennings
I thought the final fight was absolutely fantastic as well.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but how did loki
not die?
And where
is Odin?

He didn't die because it just wasn't a fatal wound and he tricked Thor into believing that.

as for the second question, you'll have to buy a ticket for Thor 3 in three years

So is The Winter Soldier 5 min preview shown before all showings, just 2D, just 3D or what? I'm thinking about seeing this tonight.

SHIIIIIIT I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS A PREVIEW

Oh well, I got introduced to "Thor 2 abridged as described by Tom Hiddleston", which was fallowed by the clip of him dancing as well as a bunch of cringeworthy music videos (one of Lightning Strikes, another of Can't Touch This) and some old movie and cartoon clips.

As for the movie itself, it's by far my favorite Marvel movie. It had the perfect blend of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Superhero action and comedy (the
Mjolnir wild goose chase
was both funny and overly epic at the same time). My favorite segment is from
after he breaks loki out to when they board the Dark Elf ship.
The portion where Loki
plays costume creator and then goes on about patriotism after he changes into Captain America
was the best part of the film.

He's Loki.
He once got his head cut off and he just lifted it up and placed it back on.

Movie explanation is actually
that he probably just used an illusion
.

I was thoroughly entertained by this movie. Visual effects were awesome sans one scene where the green screen was too obvious. It was much more fun and humorous. Thor and Loki had fantastic scenes together. It also felt really epic
when the dark elves attacked Asgard
. Thumbs way up.

Completely random but was your theater in KC?

Completely random but was your theater in KC?

KC? Kansas City? No. Alamo Drafthouse, not willing to disclose location though. It's a chain though so there might be a location there.

EDIT: I loved that the final fight had it's own unique mechanic going for it.
Portal chasing
gave the fight the bit it needed to be memorable.

Thought the movie was quite good, but a little too comedic at times.
Beniecio was very interesting in the mid credits scene, was totally what I had expected, and was quite pleased how it turned out. So "exotic" lol

Was there an additional end credits scene? I wanted to wait for it but alas I had to leave.

It wasn't major.
Thor returned to Earth and Kissed jane, and a brick joke that the bilgesnipe that got teleported from the frost realm was still running about

Incredibly enjoyable fun ride--especially the
portalesque ending battle

Unfortunately here in China
they didn't show the post credit scene!

Saw it, liked it a lot. MUCH better than Thor 1, in my opinion.

I hope Thor 3 has very little to no Earth, though. I want the MCU / Asgardian version of Lord of the Rings, dammit. De-power Thor and make him go on a quest with the Warriors 3 and actually develop them thoroughly and finally give us a deep look at the world.

Then give them their own Asgard-only TV spin-off

In Thor 3, I hope they introduce:
Enchantress and Executioner, along with Valkyrie and perhaps Balder. If they don't go the route of Enchantress and Executioner, I guess Gorr or Mangog would suffice for the final film of the Thor standalones.

If Marvel does end up doing a Warriors Three One-Shot, then I suggest
Fenris Wolf being the "villain" as they hunt it down.
If not for that, they could introduce
The Wrecking Crew to face off for a fun showdown.

Even though I'd like to see
Surtur or Hela
make their debut, I don't know if Marvel is willing to go that far with their lore. I'm all for it though.

Oh okay. I went to the Alamo to watch it in KC with my girlfriend who lives here. I had no idea it was a chain though!

It was fun, but my god is Jane Foster's character incredibly boring.

There was hint there for a second that she wouldn't be.
Her curiosity with their tech/magic was fun, but it never really comes back. I sort of wanted basically Thor 1 in reverse. With her as a fish out of water. Perhaps as that scene hinted at maybe she would get her sea legs faster than anticipated.

After this ridiculous-ass movie and its rainbow bridges, dark elves, invisible spaceships and what are sure to be huge box office receipts, I refuse to ever listen to anyone tell me that audiences won't buy a Wonder Woman movie for its fantastical elements ever again.

There's still one problem, a huge one. It's a DC comics property.

A good portion of the movie's enjoyment was based on whether you like Sci-Fi/Fantasy elements it seems, from what I can tell of the divided opinions.
That's a reason for why it won't be greenlit, but not for why it wouldn't be accepted by audiences.

If we get a good Ares I'm all for it.

She's such a passive character. I like the switch from being a doctor to being a scientist so that she has more of a reason to actually be part of the plot, but damn are they just so bad at actually doing anything with her. Any time she's on screen it brings down the movie.

For real.

That's something that has long accepted since the first Thor. As Aldrich Killian said “Ever since the guy with the hammer fell out of the sky, subtlety kind of went out of the window”

I dunno, felt a lot like a kid's movie. Like I know that's a lot of their target demographic but it seemed really evident in this one. Like something aimed at my 12 year old self. Any scenes of drama or adventure are wedged in between some pretty awful attempts at humor and action that never really felt like it had impact (with the exception of one small part where someone is getting punched repeatedly on the ground). I like Kat Dennings but her scenes were so dumb. Jane is boring as ever. The final battle was definitely cool though.

3/5. If it weren't for the art design and Loki I think it would be 2/5.

edit: oh and
black hole grenades
. Cool to see it in a movie finally.

There was extra Cap footage being shown at some places? My showing had Hunger Games footage :(

Movie was really really great. I had absolutely zero hype going in (and had only seen the first trailer). Way better then I expected.

Iron Man 3 = Thor 2 > Avengers > Captain America > Iron Man 2 = Thor = Hulk > Iron Man

If they don't have Beta Ray Bill in Thor 3 I'm going to be pretty bummed.

I enjoyed it, but I think I like the first one better. I guess I just liked the fish-out-of-water, whimsical side of Thor's time on earth in the original.

BTW I flipped out by the cameo, my heart skipped a beat! just fantastic (got the biggest reaction in my theater too) <3
When you say the cameo, do you mean
Captain America? That was funny, probably one of the biggest laughs in the theater.

I like this explanation better the alternative. Otherwise (SPOILERS):
Frigga would indeed have been visiting him after Odin said Loki would never see her again. I mean maybe she would have, but I think the explanation described works better, considering Loki appearing broken once he took down his illusion.

Frigga seemed cool when she was fighting. I was sad she died.

I liked Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk

Disliked Thor, Iron Man 2/3, Avengers

Will I like this.
You appear to have disliked any movie with Thor/Loki in it or fantasy elements, so I would guess you would not like it.

Avengers 3 speculation based on mid-credit scene
Looks like they are going the route of the collector acquiring all six infinity gems and then Thanos takes them leading into Avengers 3.

My theater had Cap footage preceding the feature which, along with his cameo in the film, made it as embarrassingly clear as ever that each of these films is merely an extended commercial for the next charmless Avengers product out of the factory. Oh, Marvel.

Yes, how dare Marvel show off the next movie they are making, or the fact that they all take place within the same universe.

Well, he has to get the Tesseract from Asgard first. Maybe he appears in Thor 3?

Thor 3 is
Thanos coming into Asgard and curb stomping everyone and laying waste to the city. Good way to establish his power level and leaves you hanging for Avengers 3 when they try and go to stop him.

Whatever floats your boat, fanboy, but I find it cringeworthy product placement and suspect these things will have the lifespan of an opened bag of potato chips. I am allowed that opinion, I think.

boy, are you set for disappointment when DC appears to give a fuck about Wonder Woman

I loved it-everything seemed to click, definitely in the high tier for Marvel movies-I didn't care much for Iron Man 3, story wise-but I loved pretty much every minute of this. The end battle was amazing. Sadly I think Malakeith got the short end of the stick here-he was really not fleshed out at all, and a real waste of Christopher Eccelston's charm. Also Dr. Selving got on my nerves, whereas I really liked him in the first movie. He really felt shoehorned in here. Also it was pretty convenient that
Thor and Jane found the one cave in the nine realms that was the portal back to earth in that cave
.

I think the key to this film is going at it just like you'd take Avengers. It's a joyride, it's absurd, it's fun and ridiculous and eye-rollingly silly and so, soooo fucking dumb. But it's a lot of fun. Tons of fun.

Liked it, but didn't think it was that good. One thing that pissed me off was
There was too much joking around going on during the final battle, I mean the Universe is at stake and you're sitting there cracking jokes left and right. I don't mind stuff like that, but not when it's happening during something that is super serious.

but this begs the question: why are you watching movies meant for children? I mean have you even seen 12 Years a Slave yet?

Does anyone else find it odd when movies like this have lines like "See you in hell!"?

Loki says it at one point in the film and I immediately think, here is an Asgard God basically, where did he learn that phrase? I think it's pretty obvious they wouldn't be Christians.

Great visually. Art direction is really good. There are some good, funny moments.
(Captain Loki)
Loki is the only one with good lines and good acting. Very forgettable movie.

spoiler: iron man, iron man 2, hulk, thor and cap were all commercials for Avengers

and it worked. and it was awesome. for that reason, they will keep doing it.

Do you work at a theater? That's the only explanation I can think of for why you were sitting there watching the, what, seventh Marvel movie when you have an attitude like that toward them.

Well he could have meant "Hel" which exists in the Marvel U.
