Does anyone else ever think, that for humanity to start taking the preservation of endangered species seriously, we might need a martyr? Imagine if it was announced tomorrow that there are no more pandas living in the wild. The only pandas left would be the ones we've preserved by sort of deep freezing them, in zoos. The uproar would be pretty immense, I'd imagine. The extinction of a cuddly, lovable species would make it a posterboy for the effect humans are having on ecosystems. No one cares about dodos or some other species they've never heard of. I'm just wondering if that would do any help, since the way it's looking now, that situation seems pretty imminent(Not necessarily for pandas).
