Is this on the ROG?
I've noticed my cards don't downclock when I'm running the desktop at 144hz.
They do if I lower to 120hz however.
Finally got my Titan's up and running, fire up BF Hardline and it can't even hold 60fps maxed @4k LOL(and its a stuttering mess)
WTF :|
It looks to be what most Titan X's can achieve. I've personally been gaming on an OC of +220/+409.
Someone with a 660 non-Ti had the same problem in the driver thread at nVidia so I'm sure it's not just you.Smokey said:Anybody else's Titan X's not downclocking when idle? Mine just sit at 1001mhz no matter what.
Hmm, seems like nothing but complaints in the driver thread over at the nVidia forum... I am staying away from 347.88 and sticking with 347.52 for now. People are really starting to lose their patience. I think it's fair to say they have dropped the ball on the quality of their drivers over the past 12 months.

Seems like no matter what card you have (I use a 660 as well) this driver is buggy piece of crap.

It just got released why wouldn't it support dx12?Is this a DX12 card? If not, doesn't that sap a bit of the appeal?
Still haven't figured what the fuck is wrong with SLI in my rig...but even with one card, this thing kicks ass.

Samsung 4k monitor
I'm assuming you're using newest drivers? Did you use DDU to do a clean install before putting these in? Has there been reports of BF Hardline struggling with SLI?
Hardline is an unoptimized piece of shit.
I picked it up the other day, and at 1080p with everything on ultra (including 4x MSAA), I'm getting drops into the 40s with an original Titan @ +100 and a 3820 @ 4.6.
Thing is, it's a HIDEOUS game - Battlefield 4 looks leaps and bounds better, and doesn't struggle to maintain 60.
What's going on?
Not sure. Whenever I put both Titan Xs in my PC, it refuses to display anything. The computer boots and POSTs completely fine but just doesn't display anything. I even went back to my old GTX 780 TIs to see if works fine and it did...sooooo I'll be eternally waiting for Nvidia customer service.
I'm assuming both work in the main slot by itself?
At the moment, this is only true on a single display up to 2560x1600.
I have a 295x2, and considering selling and picking up two of these.
The 295x2 is fine, but I'd be lying if I said I was totally happy with the recent driver performance. How is SLI doing these days for Nvidia?
Store accepted my return of 2 x GTX 970 based on the VRAM bullshit. Titan X, you will now be mine!
It looks to be what most Titan X's can achieve. I've personally been gaming on an OC of +220/+409.
So that means DSR should work fine as long as the native resolution of the display is 1600p or lower? Irrespective of whether we are downscaling from 4k?
It's hit or miss on day 1 profiles with some of these new games at release. Nvidia tends to be quick about getting then out soon after though if not at launch.
PC gaming involves trouble shooting at some point, it's inevitable.Got some bad news guys, my system is not stable with 2 Titan Xs
It works like a champ while it's up. But the moment I cold boot a few hours after shutdown, the system rarely ever makes it to the OS. It gets stuck in an infinite reboot cycle (with a distinct click from the PSU) until safe mode kicks in and then it magically works again. There's no BSOD, graphical anomalies, driver crash or anything. Just an instant hard reboot. Once the system is up, it even works fine if I reboot as many times as I want. So I removed one GPU, let it stay off for a few hours and booted and that works fine too. So at least the problem is isolated to something dual GPU related. First thing that came to my mind is that my system may not be providing enough power to 2 GPUs during cold boot, causing some kind of reset. I'm going to let it rest for the night and try again in the morning with just 1 GPU. If it still works consistently, then there are a few possibilities:
- My PSU is inadequate. I highly doubt this because it's a brand new 1000W evga supernova. Granted I have high power requirements, but not THAT high. I was able to reproduce the problem with everything running at stock (and not even under load as it's just OS boot up).
- The power available for my PSU is inadequate/unstable, causing the system to reboot. This is actually possible, because I'm running it on a surge protector that is also shared by my TV, home theater, set top box, PS4, router and a few more things (lol). May bet there's just not enough juice available through one outlet! May be the power up cycle causes a bigger jump in power draw than my overloaded outlet can handle.
- SLI setup is screwed up. This wouldn't make sense as it works fine for others.
- Motherboard issues with SLI. I can't imagine this either as I would think motherboard issues would result in some kind of error screen as opposed to hard resets. Not to mention that it works fine once it is up. It has to be power supply related.
Assuming it's (2) for now, I'm going to have to rewire everything and possibly test plugging in directly into a wall socket and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then I'm screwed. I'd have to start replacing one part at a time, starting with the PSU to see what the issue is
Will report back if I learn anything. Sigh, I start gaming on a PC after 10 years and I already need to deal with this crap! :/
Congratulations! Which card did you buy? SC version?
I had a bit of a setback myself. The online retailer that I used has removed the expected shipping date for the EVGA Titan X SC. I am still hoping for delivery the next week or so, but until that time I don't have access to a desktop computer (sold my 780s). Will have to use the time to work ... or play Bloodborne I guess.
I went for the Asus. I have a Asus motherboard, so the possibility of controlling the Titan through the same software is an added bonus. More importantly, it was cheaper.
Not good to hear about the delay on your end. The Titan X delivery dates in Norway are unconfirmed (27 March) as well, so I guess I should prepare for the worst. I have 14 days to return the 970s, so I guess I'll hold on to them a bit longer until I know more.
I'll probably be playing Bloodborne anyway, just as you![]()

Welp. Just tested with one titan x and issue happens even then. Now it boots up to windows, shows my wallpaper and boom! Reboot! :/
So it's not dual gpu related. For those asking, this is an asus x-99a mobo that supports up to 3-way SLI. Running everything at stock right now. But as we know now, the issue persists even with one card. Gonna try sorting out the power situation anyway to see if it makes a difference
Edit: just thought i'll reboot one more time. This time it seemed stable until i loaded crysis. Instant reboot! Wtf. I was benchmarking this game just fine a couple of days ago!
Edit 2: removed all the other crap connected to that outlet and plugged directly into it. Now it works and I can play crysis at downsampled 4k just fine. Not at 60 fps as I'm using just one card now, but playable. Don't know if it's a coincidence. So I've shutdown for now. Will wait a couple of hours before trying again
It's a power issue in your house/apartment. I had the same problems when I started using boss rigs. Luckily, I am close friends with a lot of electricians so they boosted my house's power capabilities, e.g. http://1pcent.com/?p=123.![]()
i was going to go with a 970 or 980 for 1440p gaming (I have a 680 4gb i was going to sell to a buddy of mine to help offset the cost) but this 12GB beast keeps calling my name. So hard to let go of 1k but i know ill be good with it for at least a few years.

Or maybe it is power. Huh.
I woukdve thought it would be mobo first. when my machine was having psu issues it would legit shut down in the middle of gaming or benchmark, and then wouldn't cold boot.
cant justify 1k on a single item no matter how good it is
Well, this probably isn't the thread for you, then.
OT: First Titan X, from EVGA (through Newegg), shall be here today. Ordering a second tomorrow! Wanted to grab two SC'd, but as I've heard, it won't make much difference for a little extra.
I've gotten all SC versions of previous cards bc reasons. Helps with resale too. didn't this time because I went with Nvidia.
I just tried the cool off period and still having the same problem with even one Titan X directly plugged to the wall socket and nothing else. So I swapped the card with the other one and that mysteriously works! Grrr…. Now I'll have to wait for another cool off period and try agin. If it works, then this could be a case of the other one being a faulty card. I'm clueless at this point.
Dude! I live in a condo. I don't know/think I can pull this off! :/
The thing is, it doesn't even work with a single Titan X at stock. It can't be an apartment power problem then can it? That's less than 500 W total consumption! And I get the problem after windows login on game boot up screen, not under heavy stress. That's not even much load. I don't know, I'm considering this as the worst case scenario for now
I'm still thinking/hoping mobo/PSU/GPU as a potential problem. I won't be able to handle it if it's related to apartment power!![]()
True story Sk3tch, I always return to you doing that as possibly the most OTT and amazing thing I've seen done for a PC upgrade.
"There's this dude on GAF that had a 240VAC outlet put in just for his PC."
Does EVGA know you're cheating on them?I've gotten all SC versions of previous cards bc reasons. Helps with resale too. didn't this time because I went with Nvidia.
