Titan X Launch / Review / Tears Thread

I have a Titan and I'm absolutely waiting for Pascal or even its successor.

I sort of get wanting a Titan X for 4k gaming but I don't think it's the quite the year to have that resolution on lock for 60fps yet, even with the Titan X.

Gsync could help a lot in 4k, as long as you're above 40fps I've heard it's hard to tell a difference.

Just waiting on a decent 4k G-sync monitor. So far there's only one for sale Acer XB280HK.

Makes sense if you want VR at a locked 90fps.

People making fun of coding to the metal doesn't want to appreciate why the industry is moving to low-overhead API's, until now a respectable portion of those extra transistors in the top-end cards were idling around based on the application.

Console peasant here, obviously. Also it's nice to have wealthy gaffers here, I'm totally not jealous.

Not with one, but with two, it seems more than capable. Problem is, two isn't always ideal because of driver support and game support. But man do I want two of these bad boys along with that ASUS 4K 60 hz display for my entry into 4K gaming.
It would take too long for me to save for two plus the monitor though.

I might just go with a single 970 and be content and save for Pascal and DX12 and see what happens with the RAM and GPU pairing options and if they'll change.
In the UK, PC hardware usually costs an arm and a leg for the higher up stuff. So I'm expecting like £800-900 for one of these Titans.

Gibbo over on OcUK's forums said they're still waiting on a price but something in between £800-£1,000 with £900 being more than likely once you take into account current exchange rate and VAT. I'm sure ASUS and EVGA will add a little on top as well. Guess we'll find out in 18 mins time.

Yup, exchange rate isn't being too kind on us at the moment :(

11.500 NOK in Norway. ($1370)

Even I can't justify that. Hoping for some price adjustments!

Yeah, local adjustments pushes the price up too high. Titan X costs the same translated to usd in Sweden. It was more fun to buy computer hardware when €/SEK held their ground against $. As an added bonus, SEK is in a free fall right now due to an adjustment of the key interest rate ...

Damn I knew Smokey would make this thread. I might pull the trigger in the future or wait for the inevitable GTX 980Ti.

Smash! Long time no talk. Did I sell you my OG Titan a while ago? Can't recall.

If you're not at 4k I'd probably wait.

I love the constant pushing of the bleeding edge but I'm a long way from being able to drop $1k on a video card. Hopefully the performance increases here trickle down to newer cheaper cards.

I'm still running a GTX660Ti and Evolve is the only thing to make it stutter on normal settings at 1080p.

Hoping I see an EVGA model pop up at noon today. If the SC version is less than ~70 more, I'll buy that. I think the fact that the EK blocks are already good to go is what's pushing me over the edge.

Buddy bought the Nvidia branded one yesterday and paid for overnight... should be here today. We also made a Microcenter run yesterday:

The card is impressive, but not enough for me to jump from my EVGA GTX 980FTW. I was hoping for 50% gains, bare minimum. I'll be waiting for Pascal.

I still don't think it's a bad deal when you count in selling your current card. You'd subtract that from the price of the Titan X, which would be the same as buying another 980 at this point. But with better VRAM and reliable single-card performance (since SLI scaling isn't perfect).

I'm still on the fence about it.

You think I should wait? I game at 1440p, but I'm starting to see lower frames.

You are right though, I should probably wait for the 980Ti which will be cheaper and equal in performance.

You never sold me the Titan, haha, but I did ask you about it.

I got one of these last week. Such an awesome monitor my goodness!

lol £887.
Does the US price of $999 include tax? I wouldn't be surprised if it does. UK prices are a fucking joke for computer components.

If the EVGA superclocked Titan X keeps the nvidia reference cooler (sweclockers reported this), what is the benefit of buying the superclocked card compared with just buying a reference design card and overclocking yourself?

Probably the warranty. I'm not sure about nVidia's own cards but other vendors tend to offer out of the box overclocks supported by a warranty and I think they also let you overclock under warranty even further provided you don't modify the BIOS to exceed voltages.
Not 100% sure though.

Look at this water cooled EVGA card:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-277-EA&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1576

That could have been a single-slot card if it didn't have that DVI connector (or replace another with it). Titan X single-slot....Water cooled. In a tiny slim chasis....

Thanks. That is actually a pretty important factor here considering how much the titan x costs.

That had to be overnight delivery on 2 very expensive video cards. Just couldn't wait, huh?

Do you do benchmarks? I want to see benchmarks :)

Some of you either have good jobs or save for these new top of the line cards. Two and three brand new Titans at a time?
You know, the EU prices for these cards make me quite sad.

Yeah to buy a couple or a few of these here you need to be pretty minted or save for a lengthy time.

Dooood!!! I'm still waiting for my tracking number! :'(

I had to have gotten in really early.

Didn't even overnight. I paid for 2 day. To my surprise I checked the tracking number this morning and it said on vehicle for delivery.

Yeah I'll do some benchmarks. I have 3DMark, Heaven, all of that. I just came home to pick them up though, so it won't be until later.

Smokey, what does the rest of your config look like? We should benchmark and compare notes! :)

Smokey if you don't mind me asking, how does your setup look like? cuz you have different monitor sizes. If you have a main one I'm definitely getting that unless you plan on upgrading soon.

Edit: I mean main monitor.
