Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Technical Test Impressions (XB1/PS4)

How did they remove the best game mode from the game. Till this day Attrition is the most played mode in Titanfall 1. What are you doing Respawn.

after playing for few hours i'm really enjoying my time with it, not as good as TF1 but still good

me buying the game depends on how good\bad BF1 beta is

it feels like everytime time when a MP game turns out really great, the sequel to it ruins everything that was good in the previous game, such as Uncharted 2 MP to Uncharted 3 MP, MGS 4 MP to MGS 5 MP, BF Bad company 2 to BF3, Killzone 2 MP to killzone 3 MP

all i wanted from TF sequel is to keep everything untouched and just add more weapons, items, titans and maps, but that's not what happened with TF2

hopefully BF1 doesn't disappoint as well

I think it's more just people being resistant to change than anything else. The Halo 2 crowd HATED equipment in Halo 3. But they eventually faded out and Halo 3 did incredibly well. This is early days with a new game, once the rose tinted glasses come off and the diehards either jump ship or adapt to the changes we will understand the new meta TF 2 is giving us. As for me I am liking the changes and it's nice to have people actually playing for a change (coming from PC).

I hate to be that guy but let's look at this clip of R1. Arguably one of the best maps in the game, look how fluid and precise the movement is. Look at the map design, yes there are vantage points, but the buildings break up sight lines. So you can out maneuver someone who has the high ground. It's beautiful.

I haven't really had that movement in R2. While not the best player, I feel like the movement is lacking that precision and speed. And even while attempting to speed up and work on movement; I get gunned down by two guys sitting on a rooftop that can see me from my spawn.

Played two quick matches. I quite enjoyed it. Having played Titanfall I really don't understand the complaints. Movement actually feels more varied, especially with additions like the grappling hook. Titans themselves feel more vulnerable, which they should. There's a greater emphasis on teamwork when you can actually heal your partner's Titan. I love the fact that you aren't just handed a Titan on a timer and have to contribute. The weapons are a good mix so far, and I hope the as yet unrevealed ones add to the flavor.

I feel as though the TTK needs a slight tweak, as right now it feels like camping is too easy. That being said, situational awareness should be taken into account when people say it's too quick. I might have made the same complaint had I not cooled my jets and started paying attached a little more before rushing in.

For me as someone who thought Titanfall was a good concept which lacked content, I feel this can be a stellar experience if some minor tweaks are made. This was never going to be the first game all over again, and people need to understand that.

Holy fucking shit the entire front page of r/Titanfall is filled with complaints and disappointment and broken dreams.

Does anyone else feel auto aim is overcompensating too much? It almost feels kind of pointless to aim since some of these shots that shouldn't be connecting are somehow finding their target.

I'm coming around a little bit more.

Wow that looks hot
It looks hot because it's pretty much what you can do in Titanfall 1. The game isn't complete shit ya know. It's still better than the best of COD right now.

The issue isn't that the game is terrible, it's that it took a step back from Titanfall 1. All they had to do was upgrade the damn graphics, add some more content, a single player and BAM you got yourself a fucking ace. Literally, no joke, they could have kept everything from Titanfall 1 and added slide, grapple, with updated graphics and people would have lost their shit with joy.

Yeah. Kind of crazy. Respawn should at least take solace in the fact there is so much love out there for Titanfall 1.

It was a small but very very very loyal fanbase.

I just saw on Twitter that the lead engineer for the game said the technical test is from the June build of the game, and that it has known bugs and that "some modes" have A.I., while others do not. So I guess more than one mode has them!

It makes no sense to have these big maps if your not going to have AI or increase player count. I'm getting Stonehaven flashbacks :(

Game is still pretty good, but went from a preorder to a wait and see.

Killstreaks for Titans is garbage. I played a a whole match of Hardpoint and saw one Titan.

Should just change the name to Pilotfall.

I feel like the game could do with another 6 months of development time. 18 months is not enough for AAA development especially when you have to juggle studio resources between a single player campaign and a Star Wars game too.

its just a beta

and they literally tell you during the intro video that they are only showing these two modes...

People act like this beta is the end product... Might as well complain you don't get the campaign to play. Seriously, the game is not releasing for another 2 months, it has AT LEAST another month of development before heading into final cert, and then another month for the inevitable day 1 patch... so calm down.

Attrition better be in the game's release or we riot, in TF1 97% of my time was playing Attrition, there is no way i'm gonna play Bounty hunt when the game releases

Homestead map should not be in Attrition mode, it should be only for Last Titan Standing

kinda wish if they would bring back the Smart Pistol, i know there is a lot of complaints about it being for noobs but it actually was pretty fun playing it

TF1 beta had the best 2 maps in the game, hopefully TF2 beta has the worst 2 maps in the game because they are awful

Don't we do this literally every single beta? Most betas seem to change very little from that point to release. I mean, there will be changes, many of which might be from the feedback, but expecting wholesale changes at this stage is always a recipe for disappointment.

Never played the first Titanfall but very keen to try this. Went to the subreddit to hopefully find some beginner pro-tips and dear lord! It is like this game set fire to people's houses. That combined with the current No Man's Sky civil war has left me wondering how resilient you need to vocally enjoy games these days.

Any recommendations for beginner guides that a Titanfall newbie can become educated with? Thanks.

is there really people who believe the "This is just a alpha\beta and the full game will be different" ? every single beta i have ever played is the exact same of the full game, unless the beta comes out about a year before release date like Overwatch's Closed beta then yes it may change but other than that it's nothing but lies

That's pretty much where I'm at now. I have other gripes with the game (no shields on titans, no countdown for titans, orange glow on enemies, HUD is too busy) but I'll still play the game and give it a chance if Attrition is back. As for these modes in the demo, I think I've played 4 matches and I have zero desire to play a 5th. It's that bad. I loved TF1...one of the best MP games I've ever played, and TF2 has been the #1 game I was looking forward to since it was announced. But if the final game is anything at all like this test I've lost all interest.

As a general rule of thumb, everyone on your team, as long as they're playing a mode close to "correctly", should be getting at minimum at least one Titan in a match, and often more (depending). Where that doesn't happen, expect corrections in the real game.

Sadly, Amped Hardpoint (until weekend #2 most likely, when it was originally supposed to go live) will probably NOT be like that for weekend #1. Earn rates are very low, you'll feel a distinct lack of Titans until that's corrected, especially in the first half of a match.

I went back and played a match of Attrition after playing the beta and got 4 titans, then used a burn card for 1 more. Super fun.

1-2 per match in Titanfall 2? Not super fun.

  • I highly encourage you to not aim down the sights in close to medium range. You are very accurate without needing the sight, sights are mostly for long distance slow moving targets.
  • Keep moving and use your abilities, try to get to advantageous locations with your wall running, grapples, etc. Remember that if you tap Circle or B you will enter a slide that last for a lengthy amount of time. It also preserves momentum, and can be pre-buffered for when you land while mid air.
  • Take batteries from Titans and put em in your Titan or a buddies Titan. Boosts Titan health.
  • You can change your load-out and edit your load-out mid match without dying.
  • Ammo counts are visible in your scope.
  • Your ability cooldowns are visible as bars underneath your crosshair.
  • Headshots are extremely important.
  • Snipers have bullet-drop and you need to lead your shot.
  • In Bounty Hunter mode, the AI always are marked on the map as an icon, in the red circle enemies will spawn. The glow around the Icon indicates how many more AI need to be destroyed before the banks spawn. Banks spawn when all objectives are complete. Deposit your money at banks, you need to be within 5 meters or so.
  • Killing an enemy nets you half of however much money they were carrying, hunt em after you deposit your dough.

These are just the ones off the top of my head.

There are certain elements of this thing that are basically set in stone.

If you don't like the designs of the two maps they decided to put their first foot forward with, there's no way that's going to change in the next two months.

If you think these games change significantly based on backlash, you are going to be very disappointed

It's too late in development for serious changes. Maps, titan mechanics, and modes arent likely to change

Ttk, speed.. maybe.

People most not be playing the objective Capture a couple points get some kills I get my Titans easily.

This hasn't been my experience. Especially in hard point which is the mode was I always at the top or second on my team in the original. In TF2 I've played 3 games and only gotten a Titan once and those games I only saw like one Titan on each team ever in battle. I play the objective and manage to get a good amount of kills. I don't know if they decreased how fast you get your Titans for technical reasons or what. But, not seeing like 6 or 8 Titans and pilots battling it out at once like the original is disappointing...

Super disappointed so far. TF1 was my favorite multiplayer the year it came out, but this just lacks the raw energy and frenetic pacing that TF1 had.

After playing the beta, it looks like i'm waiting for a Black Friday sale at the very least.

Did an update roll out? The matches pop up as Bounty Hunt, Hardpoint, and PvP now instead of it being PvP, Bounty Hunt, and Hardpoint.

I played a few matches earlier and had a lot more fun than yesterday, I'm not sure if I'm getting used to it or the people I were playing against just weren't as tryhard because I did enjoy it a bit.

You'll only see that in Bounty Hunter mode at the moment as AI kills are the only way (currently) that large amounts of people will be getting Titans.

I also read from one of the developers earlier in this thread that they are definelty increasing the speed of Titan drops for non-AI modes and also taking a look at AMP'd Hardpoint in general.

Here's the post

Yes, the subreddit is on fire. lol

My advice? go pick up an xbox and play the original for the next two months until this is released. We may never get another Titanfall game like it again.

    .

  • Unless you're using the CAR or another submachine gun like it this is not goign to work. Most good players will ADS even up close, or go back and forth between the two rapidly.

That's good to hear. Because Hardpoint is my favorite mode. I hope the other maps have better wall running design also my other complaint. Also I still feel like the TTK is quicker than the original...

Tried it. This game does absolutely nothing for me. And judging by some impressions, EA is probably making a big mistake releasing it in between Battlefield 1 and Infinite Warfare.

Played a few rounds. Hated it. Not even from a "this isn't Titanfall" standpoint. Just actively didn't like the feel of the game. In about 4 or 5 games I called down maybe one titan. It just kind of felt like COD in that it was just somewhat blah for me.

I will say I'd like to give it another shot if they did a beta for PC. Much prefer KB+M, and maybe that was messing it up.

Thanks! Only a few minutes left to go. Hype!

My internet is poor but I can play Overwatch and CoD fine. This freezes me every few minutes then drops me. Tried 4 times, haven't completed a match. Could play the Xbox 1 beta for the first game.

The CAR definitely does work better in this situation, yes. But when your facing someone running on a building or moving irradically, yes tapping ADS does snap aim easier, but at the cost of speed and awareness. Its an option that I think could be overlooked as other games have really punished non-ADS play in a way that this game does not.

BEEFY BONUS TIP:
  • When playing Pilot vs. Pilot you can see your team and the enemy teams spawn area marked on your radar. Enemies= Red Circle; Friendly= Blue Circle.

I said this day one the moment they announced it's release date. They're basically sending this series out to die.

Yeah movement in this game and wallrunning doesnt feel as smooth.

TF1 was faaaaaaar from a perfect game. A lot of small little fundamental issues really did need fixing in a sequel, and I was genuinely excited to see what TF2 could bring to the table in that respect.

But really, it's not so much that they changed the game, it's that what they changed it to isn't really my cup of tea... so far. Like I said, I really gotta try it out on PC.

I like a lot of different shooters. While it's disappointing, it's fine if TF2 isn't really like TF1 at all, as long as the result is genuinely fun and interesting to play. That game might be in there, but it's definitely not grabbing me as quickly as TF1 did.
