Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Technical Test Impressions (XB1/PS4)

My mistake. I must have been thinking of a different thread someone else made. That thread got a lot of attention because it was about how the game population was dwindling already and i loved the game.

but anwyay let the shitting on this game resume. I'll go have fun with it instead of trying to talk any sense into people

Thus implying that people who aren't having fun with this lack sense. Opinions exist. TF1 is pretty different than most FPS games so it's not hard to see why people are so disappointed. I still want attrition and regenerating shields back. I'm more than willing to admit I underestimated the importance of the bots for a good long time.
 
Wow, Bounty Hunt is so much more fun this weekend after the changes

They feel more powerful and there's lots more of them. The mode improved significantly. Really digging it now.
 
The game really needs grunts and spectres back. Ones that actually do something.


I can't stress enough how soulless and empty this feels. Even bounty hunt.

But I agree, it sucks not having them in Hardpoint.

I think they should add AI bots to spawn at the hardpoints, and they fight for whoever is controlling it. If you amp the hardpoint it spawns one of those badass mini titan robots that are actually a little tough to kill.
 
The more I play it the more I like it.
It only hurts when I compare it to the first game.

What they should do is get together a mode or expansion pack that is basically the content from the first game and get it on PS4 and on XB1 in the new engine with the graphical enhancements. That would be a good thing to put out next year sometime to give the game a shot in the arm.
 
I just played a Bounty Hunt match that ended without going past the first wave because no one could find the last AI soldier. Heh.

I think there are some issues with tracking objects and AI sometimes like that.. I had a icon for a battery on my map in the middle of a field but couldn't find anything. Hopefully something that's fixed by october.

Well finally got in on this, played a few matches of bounty hunt and amped hardpoint.

Despite all the complaints actually having a lot of fun with it. I can certainly feel the movement feels a bit more limited and the grapple is a necessity to get around these much more open maps.

I actually don't hate the battery system as much as I thought I would, kinda adds a fun extra element to it.

Mind you as much as I loved the first, I was never amazing at it or poured 100s of hours in. I can see how the changes would piss off those that did.

Gonna boot tf1 up again later to see how much different it feels after doing the tech test. At the moment still think I'll keep my preorder.

Yes, but they are just cannon fodder to be eliminated as soon as they exit the pods.



Titanfall 1 at the very least they were running around spicing up the map, and you could hack spectres, which added a fun little element to the game.



Also. Holy shit. I mean, how do they go from the best skyboxes outside of Bungie, to the worst I have seen in YEARS?


Such dissapointment.

I'd take most of the changes if they had the first games maps tbh.

It's useful in tight corridors like that for sure, but hitting anyone at a distance, above you, or moving around outside is pretty tough. It's great for splash damage but the projectile moves slow and reloads slow. I hope they'll tune its splash damage and fire rate down before launch. It's a good idea but it's too powerful in the test.

It doesn't really seem that much more broken than looking at the CAR when you're facing someone at close range. It melts people in hipfire.
 
I don't know how they went backwards to much with this game. This looks like original, and TF1 looks like sequel. I guess the cloud had advantages after all.
 
Yeah, honestly, if the maps were good, I wouldn't be hating on this game anywhere near as much as I have been.

They might as well just scrap all new maps and replace them with the old maps if they want this game to be successful.

If the maps were good, I'd give this game around an 8/10, but as of now, it's a 5 or 6 with the maps. Maybe even a 4. They are just unbearable and make e game hard to play.
 
Honestly the only major issue i have is the maps. That's it. Everything else is pretty damn great and will even get better i'm sure with tweaking.

I just feel like many of the old maps were a playground and were fun playing as both a pilot and Titan. Now it feels designed as-if to force you to play a certain way. It lacks a certain openess that felt free.
 
For those worried about the EPG... It's not easy to use. Pretty well balanced as it requires precise aiming and timing and if you miss... You're dead. The 201 will melt you if you go head to head... It's projectiles are sloooooow.

Right. Part of what made Titanfall 1 so fun was finding your own way from A to B.

Not so in Titanfall 2. Pick a path.

Exactly. It was fun with almost infinite wall running paths. Sometimes you rarely had to hit the ground. Now. You rarely get to wall run :/
