Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Technical Test Impressions (XB1/PS4)

Loved Titanfall 1 and put in a good solid 100+ hours on it on PC. Played 2 hours today on xbox one and hated it. I play lots of black ops 3 (PS4) and overwatch (PC) so I'm used to FPS, but I just couldn't aim for SHIT in TF2. I'm getting body 1 shot by MLG pros from 20 yards away, meanwhile I'm just spraying like a fire hose and not killing anyone.

Movement also felt lesser than TF1, jet pack seems to last a lot less and vertically seems to be weaker, although I keep forgetting to use the tether thing.

Currently have it on pre order on PC but gonna need a tech test on PC to keep the pre order, right now I'm just not feeling much love for TF2 especially with Battlefield 1 and Infinite Warfare also on pre order. I don't see how they could change things around to be more TF1-ish in the 60 days to launch.

Unless it was a bug, I call bullshit on that. It's taken a lot more than two grenades to take down a Titan.
Well possibly that's true, seeing how at some points in the game you can jump off a random roof, grapple a Titan, steal a battery and grapple a friend to insert that same battery it would be waaaaay too easy to just regrapple that same enemy Titan over and over again and just drop grenades in.

Thought it was me too when it came to aiming and shooting. Something felt off.

Did you play Titanfall on Xbox at all or just PC? It had little to no aim assist and I assume 2 will be the same, whereas the aim assist in Black Ops 3 and Overwatch is ridiculous.

Drop the battery mechanic and let the Titans spawn with shields that regen.

Without that it just feels like two titans wail on each other since there is no incentive to back out of a fight.

Sure you can either hope a teammate grabs a battery or you find one on the field..and get out of your mech in order to pick it up.

Like I said previously , something is off with the sensitivity and aiming, not feeling it at all... TF1 was better on those points...

selecting the "classic" aim option in the menus helps a bit

Good and well thought criticism!
Well, to expand on my thoughts: Bounty is just plain boring, in part due to how much open space is present on Boomtown. You either sprint from objective to objective or camp, neither of which is much fun. The result is that nearly all of my matches ended due to the time limit being reached, rather than the score limit being reached. And that's problematic for a game that's supposed to be fast paced.

Man, sniping is pretty hard in this game. But it feels so good when you land shots like this!

I'm getting really tired of the sprint on the ground thing. I never thought titanfall would be like this, it's like playing on fracture times 100. Let's hope these are two maps that are not going to represent what the other maps are going to be like.

lets try and remember that Titanfall doesn't really shine until you start playing CTF and LTS

I really like how in every match there's atleast 2-4 players with GAF tag, lol.

Sensitivity and aiming feels weird. When I look hard right, it moves slighty faster than left look.
Like right look is 100% speed and left look is 70-80%? Its hard to explain.
It could be that my ps4 controller sticks are somewhat broken and that's why camera speed is not synced, but this camera issue doesn't happen in other fps games like Black ops 3 or Doom.

I third this, it helped my aiming a bit.

i noticed this a lot with the aim at default, less with classic. i think it's the aim assist being really sticky at times.

Amped Hardpoint hasn't been fun so far. Getting dicked on by grouped teams. Enemy team is just sitting on vantage points with total map control. And no creep means I can't get a Titan to at least attempt to even the odds.

Git gud, I know.

I played an Amped Hardpoint match where I was the top scorer just by sitting near the closest Hardpoint for most of the match and picking off the occasional enemy. There was so little action, I don't think anyone called down a Titan. It was boring.

In this build the outer deadzone for PS4 is a smidge too small. For most people that won't matter, but it sounds like you're one of the lucky few. I've only seen one controller with the issue personally, but that's more than enough statistically.

What's happening is the game doesn't think you're quite pushing the stick all the way in a direction (left, in your case), so turn acceleration isn't ramping up. So you're turning slower sometimes, just in that direction, and that sucks.

Sorry for the inconvenience, truly. Fwiw; if you can try a different controller, you'll very likely not have the same problem.

Hard point on homestead is not fun at all.
I feel like Titans really need to spawn faster in hard point, or else it's just way too much ground to cover.

When I grabber the sniper rifle in the training mode, it felt like the bullets have a noticeable travel time, while the AR, SMG etc. didn't. Is it the same in a real match? I don't really snipe myself.

I wasn't the biggest fan of AI units in the first game, but AI units would do wonders for Hardpoint. People are less likely to camp when there's a Titan aiming right at you.

Yup just finished a match. 17 kills for me. No one dropped a Titan. In a game called Titanfall not a single Titan fell. The fuck. Amped is a dumb mechanic, and the lack of creep is a stupid decision. Creep kept players busy. Between this and Bounty Hunt possibly replacing attrition I just... Don't know. But this is what criticism is for.

Oh man this doesn't sound good. Not hearing much good about the new additions. Is the consesus that most wish this was more like TF1?

I think people just need to adjust. I would like more AI personally just to keep the game flowing. The grapple is so good you can really get moving once you learn to boost with the grapple properly. Been putting up over 20 kills a game and it's feeling good.

The AI spawns in the red zones and I don't think people get that yet. That grapple man I love it I tried stim but it's just not as good.

The amped weapons get kind of annoying and melty which is my one complaint. Gunfights can be inconsistent with the amped weapon boost. Now they just need some servers for psn in the Chicago area and I'm set.

I'm loving the game so far. Complete opposite experience to most people here it seems. Hardpoint has been great and I people to camp more because all they do is cap shit and leave.

Having a lot more fun with the sequel than the first game so far.

Sorry for the inconvenience, truly.
That's all right, no biggie. It's tech test afterall :P
I just fixed this issue, I changed default sensitivity to 3 and the problem went away.
If sensitivity is 3 or higher. Horizontal camera speed is synced for me.

Letting pilots go prone is a bad idea, especially with high points with grappling hooks. Brings a whole new dimension to "dick in the dirt" a-holes.

Good to hear! Man I wish the grapple was just a standard on everyone. I just done ever see myself using anything but the grapple. Ever lol.

So hardpoint has no ai either?

Jesus that feedback did a number on this game. I knew this shit was going to happen.

Yep. People that didn't even play the game ruining it for the fans. Shifty to see. Hopefully they can get it back to Titanfall like gameplay a bit after launch through patches.

I've never seen such good potential squandered like this before.

This could've been and should've been among ACII, UC2, Halo 2, etc as far a sequels go.

Instead, against all odds, it seems like Respawn has given us a reason to just keep playing TF1.

Seems a little premature in all fairness...

When there's a 'good map' and a 'bad map' in your pre-alpha.
Something is wrong.
I really want to love the game, but there are so many bad game design decisions :(
I just got spawn camped to death in pilots vs pilots. Ugh.

Honestly....

Boomtown isn't even a good map.

Boomtown is alright. The other map is straight up bad. The fact that I can't cross them without touching the ground sucks.

Played Hardpoint. The changes are bad. Yet another mode that encourages camping. It's worse but was still fun.

There's a good game under here. Maybe even a great one. But too many bad changes are gonna sink this ship. You don't beat Call of Duty by making it like CoD.

I eagerly await more people getting into the test tomorrow, so I can maybe have more people I can do better against for awhile

Started getting rekt my last couple matches consistently jeez. Also getting crushed by a titan falling is still both hilarious and rage inducing lol
