Titanfall (first game) being removed from all digital services - March 2022

I love the way they say "it's part of our DNA" and then state the game was released "7 years ago" as if it's a lifetime ago. This is why multiplayer only games are of no use to me and will not touch BF2042 even as a massive battlefield fan.

I bet these servers will be switched off sometime in 2022.

they can be extinguished just like that with very little warning. your product is then completely useless.

rip

yall missed out if u didnt play at launch before the hacker fuckery

game was incredibly immersive and felt way more like a real war than titanfall 2. titanfall 2 was fun but they turned up the saturation and lowered amount of shit going on at once.

anyway I have a feeling titanfall 3 isnt too many years away. itll be interesting if they can keep the movement feel after switching from source engine (albiet heavily modified) to something else

This game was one of my biggest WOW moments of the last 10 years. Ejecting from your Titan, landing on an enemy Titan, ripping its "skull" off and shooting its brain was the most insane shit ever. Closely following behind that was when I shot out some destructible walls in Siege and my jaw hit the ground.

I played it at Eurogamer expo way back in 2013. I was blown away. It was so fucking intense. They had killzone in the PS booth which looked a gen ahead but simply couldnt match the intensity of Titanfall.

Great shame, was a brilliant game back in the day, is it gone from the store already? You would think they would at least give people time to buy it digitally if they wish.
Still got my disc copies but it's only a matter of time before the servers are switched off.

- Can keep your copy
- Can still buy it until March 2022
- Not taking servers down

Yeah, digital future really in jeopardy here.
Nobody also seems to give a shit until something they never bought gets delisted. Yet as soon as it does... how anti-consumer they be and oh how they wanted it so!

I can see both sides of the argument when it comes to digital, but always get a chuckle when things get delisted and people crawl out of the gaming cardboard boxes to shake their fists. If you bought it, then no issue, if you have not bought it by now when it had countless $3 sales, you never were going to.

It's absurd that they announce this after it's been removed from sale. Why not announce it a week ahead or something? Get some more sales, allow those who want to pick it up to do so. Personally, I love the game and was going to grab it on Steam.

its getting pulled because its like hacked and dead on PC, right?

Because last time i played, it worked on Xbox, and ppl were still playing. TitanFall 2 is the one they need to do something about. Its in the Black Friday deal on xbox store rn. And its unplayable. It was completely ruined by hackers on all platforms. And i don't mean like "damn hackers with their aimbots and wallhacks". I mean like damn hackers ddos'ed the servers to death and u can't connect to a game

I liked better than TF2. Sales must be so low, or they just dont want more sales as it'd mean keeping servers up longer.

Cap sales going forward and at some point the current online base will get so low they will shut down servers.

Why would you stop sales but keep the servers open? I guess they're creating a window of you can play the game, no more patches/fixes and they'll eventually to off the servers.

Seems like it's hard to get anyway except for Origin Keys. I looked for Steam and Xbox (US Region) and don't see it on any digital store fronts.

Yeah I loved playing it on Xbox One - Was my first game to play on the new console. TitanFall 2 is incredible - one of my top games.
Titanfall 2 was OK, but the online section clearly suffered for also having focus on a campaign instead of anothwr full blown online experience.
Servers are not getting shut down.
I doubt there's millions of players playing today, but if they don't sell the game anymore then it's not really possible to gain more players.

Clickbaity title. The game has been discontinued in all forms and will remain on digital services until March 2022.

Wait they just delisted it immediately without letting people have a chance to buy it before it left? That's pretty crap. I probably would've double dipped and got it on PC just for the hell of it.

I have zero faith in Titanfall 3 being anywhere near as good as the original, if it ever comes out. They butchered it with TF2.

Delisting it seems really weird. Like why stop selling it? Is it licensing issues with music or art or something?

I'd say unfortunately they're delisting it now so if they shut down the servers in a few months they don't get complaints from people who just bought the game.

The digital future.... Yay... SMH
I guess you don't realize that the game has been on sale for about 5 years longer than it would have been were it not digital lol. All physical copies still work too btw, so your comment makes no sense.

So you'd rather not have enormous amounts of fun playing games for a few years just because at some stage 7 years or so down the track the game will be delisted and unplayable? Really?

PUBG is my most played game every year for the last 4 years and if it got shut down tomorrow I wouldn't suddenly have not enjoyed the last 4 years of playing it.

Titanfall was the best FPS of last generation by far. The sequel had an actual single player mode and better graphics but it felt too toned down compared to the original. Titanfall was so good that is was worth buying an Xbox One for early on. The problem is that there probably aren't very many players online these days and it's probably only a matter of time before the actual servers are shut down.

I remember Bluepoint made the xbox360 version, those guys are wizards. It really doesn't matter if you own a digital or disc version once those servers go down, both will be rendered useless.

Nah, seriously that sucks.
Luckily it was released physically..

I can't believe the stupidity I'm reading in here about digital and physical lol. This game was released physically too lol.

How exactly does it being delisted digitally 7 years after release, long after physical copies would have stopped being produced, make digital look bad?

You can still buy second hand physical copies and play them just like you could back in the ps2 days. What you're saying makes literally no sense lol. The fact is that without digital games works have a much shorter lifespan.
