Just three years after its launch—and only two years after arriving on Steam, after a year as an Epic Store exclusive—the groovy multiplayer horror game Evil Dead: The Game is being removed from sale. Why? Rather like the famed incantation that enables safe handling of the Necronomicon, we're not so sure about that.

Evil Dead: The Game first disappeared without warning from the Epic Games Store and the PlayStation Store. I initially thought it might be a mistake, or a store-specific reshuffling of some sort, but a message posted today on Steam confirms the takedown is intentional, and across all platforms.

"We can confirm we've begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts,"

publisher Saber Interactive wrote. "Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.

I never get these comments, I mean, are they being removed from people's libraries? As I understand, it's just being delisted

That's true but right now this game will be only available to NEW players with piracy (pc) or used physical (consoles).

Why do they rarely warn people about this? Then put it on sale and make some quick bucks.

But I got this for free some time ago :p

Well, they asked for it honestly... And I don't think that even counts as piracy at all since the company is not being harmed in any way since they wouldn't get the money from consumers anyway.

That's the reason why me and many others don't have any problem just downloading ROMs/ISOs of very old games that are impossible to buy in any currently available system.

If the company wants to complain about piracy, they better have their games easily available for purchase.

Shame this game didn't get the support it needed, it's still pretty damn awesome as is though, definitely my favourite of these kinds of asym pvp horror games.

It's not like physical copies are being printed forever and the game in question is multiplayer so in a few months or years you won't be able to play regardless of how you bought it.

Because I can buy it from a physical store. Digital bros have no option anymore.
Well, the reason I don't get these comments are because:

I mean, most games stop being printed way before digital copies get unavailable, in fact, most games are available digitally uncle's the store itself closed, just like Wii U and 3DS eShop.
