It exists and won't die after like ten years. Also ea gives no shits about it and doesn't try.I hate EA as a business in general, but really, what's specifically wrong with origin?

Their bans are platform wide and include forum and outside application (battle log) bans. Steam does not.I hate EA as a business in general, but really, what's specifically wrong with origin?
Really? No buy? Seriously? Origin isnt that bad... PC gamers need to get over this hatred for anything that isnt steam. Besides, I dont really think they give a shit that a handful of gamers wont purchase their game because its on "origin" and not their favorite "steam". Its not like a different console! Its on the same god damn screen for the love of god! Game is gonna sell a shit ton on PC without you guys.. lol
Half life is steam exclusive = omg I luvez valve
Titanfall is orgin exclusive = omg wtf fuck you ea
What exactly are you arguing here? Sales or playing with friends? Steam already has plenty of competition for sales. This is about playing with your friends and there is no good from splitting up the friend user base onto a separate service.
Figured as much with EA as publisher. Zampella might be one of the worst business men in this industry. He gets screwed by Activision, then proceeds to have the same thing done by EA. Fool me once yadda yadda. Enjoy 1/4 the sales on PC TitanFall could have had. Now lets see the other shoe drop when the game is announced without many PC specific features.
The general gaming community has zero balls and will gladly defend anti-consumer practices to get their next fix of interactive entertainment.the attitude "hey there's nothing wrong with origin, stop shitting on it" is so bizarre to me and i can't understand why people don't get it
it doesn't matter that it's fine, steam is already established and everyone has their libraries and friends lists there. origin has to be way beyond just OK to justify its existence and guess what? it's fucking not, by a long shot
also nobody should ever trust EA with any amount of control over their games
There is something amusing about a Source Engine game not being available on Steam.
Shocking news.
Who didn't expect this?
Nobody expects Half-Life 3 and L4D3 to be available on Origin. What's the "bullshit" here?
Between google hang outs, skypee, teamspeak, facebook, mumble and others, there is no lack whatsoever of social network tools to get in touch with friends and play, I would argue that steam social features are quite poorly done. Steam voip is trash, Most people nowadays including myself just get into a skype call and play with actual friends.
I'm not arguing that Origin is better than steam, is probably a bad decision on their part, I can't help to think Origin is a financial burden and they are actually loosing easy sales otherwise they were publishing on steam like they used.
Said so, I'm here to play videogames, not politics, if a stubborn company wants me to download their distribution tool, Whatever as long as it works and they deliver good games, so far Origin does that.

Xbox One it is then.

anti-Titanfall crusade.
This. Screw messing about with server finding and all that jazz through a website. That put me right off Battlefield 3 when I got it on PC.
Does Origin still have the thing where you no longer own the games after 3 years or so of inactivity?
it's EA
this false equivalency that apologists keep trying to establish between EA and valve is pathetic. EA has shown time and time again that they are scummy as shit and don't care about their users in the least beyond what money can be squeezed from them.
Thank you. This.the attitude "hey there's nothing wrong with origin, stop shitting on it" is so bizarre to me and i can't understand why people don't get it

It's not so much that Origin is bad (it's not), it's that EA is one of the worst things to happen to PC games since... Well, they're probably the worst thing.
I love how Vince and the other IW guys left Activision to get away from draconian shit being forced on them by the publisher, only to throw themselves in with another publisher that also happens to force draconian shit on them.

Valve didn't make Left 4 Dead, for example. Try buying a digital copy on GOG, Gamersgate, Amazon, Origin, etc.Published vs Directly Developed, how does this work?
Apologists? I just don't think one is better than the other. They're both running a business. EA wants to push their service and make as much money as they can on every copy. Valve wants the exact same thing.it's EA

I have it preordered but cannot stand Origin. Might just cancel as the day draw closer. There are literally people that won't buy the game because of this.
Nice circling around the comment. The majority of the gaming community plays videogames to have fun and not to fight endless political battles against publishers and developers!? preposterous!
I'm a guy who bought a Wii just o play Mario Galaxy and the Punch Out remake, downloading Origin to play Battlefield and now Titanfall seems like a minor hassle compared to that.
Crazy me, I though this was about the games.
But all my friends are on Steam.I have no issues at all with Origin. It alarms me those who are so polarized by Steam they are not open to alternatives.
Oh well, I kind of wanted to try this.
Not going to break my $0 to EA's digital store streak.
Before activision they left EA lolI love how Vince and the other IW guys left Activision to get away from draconian, unfair shit being forced on them, only to throw themselves in with another publisher that also happens to force draconian, unfair shit on them.
Competition and monopoly do you understand these terms?
You sound like you have far more disposable income than most people if you buy full consoles for a handful of games. The majority of the gaming community plays videogames to have fun and not to fight endless political battles against publishers and developers!? preposterous!
