Titanfall requires Origin.

Preorder Cancelled.

I mean for fuck's sake.

not really, I couldn't give two shits, except if I was playing on PC; I hate how Origin does file management and hate how I can't launch Origin games through Steam's Big Picture Mode without getting problems usually.

Seriously people, Origin on consoles is really not that big of a deal.

Lol, still fighting the good fight against Steam. Now we just Heavy to pop in wishing for a resurrection of GFWL with TitanFall and this thread would be complete.
ill be honest.. i probably wont. i might get drunk and do it though. Alcohol can make me do miraculous feats. And ive pretty much given up on PC gaming outside Kickstarter or Gog. Everything is Steam now so its a lost cause. PC gaming is dead.

Why would you guys even buy Titanfall through steam if you really hated EA that much?

Its not about hating EA its about cheerleading for your team.

I was wondering this as I read through this thread. It's not like they can avoid giving EA money. So unless they want to take solace in the fact that Valve is going a cut of their $60 for some reason, I don't get it. If EA is the worst company on the planet and you want nothing to do with them or their services, then Titanfall should never have been on your radar so the comments of No Steam No Buy are odd, as far as the ways people have justified that stance so far in this thread.

I stopped using Origin because it didn't have a game backup feature like Steam. Since I'm in Canada and our download limits are still stuck in 1999, this was essential for me. But this was years ago. Can someone tell me if they've added a full blown game backup option like the one Steam offers?
Not officially but if you copy and paste the game folder into the origin install folder it works just like a backup.

Its the EA published ones and they are disk only, not digital downloads.

That's not.... Yes, EA published the physical versions of The Orange Box (and probably some others), no those keys are not redeemable on Origin, and no, there are currently NO Valve games for purchase on either uPlay or Origin.

At least Ubisoft has the fucking decency to sell games on Steam, and use uPlay as a glorified launcher. But apparently some people hate that more, so what are you going to do?

Welp, looks like I'm only buying Infamous and FFXHD in March. Dropped 50% of my March buys today in Ground Zeroes and Titanfall, although requiring Origin was very much expected.

Valve games are on UPlay. Not Origin though.

OMG this is a fkn travesty! Why would they do this? WHY Lord!! I'm cancelling my Collectors Edition this very instant... I don't care how much fun this game is and how much better it will be on PC. I will deny myself the pleasure of this game for this outrage.

The only EA games I buy are ones on Steam and consoles. I refuse to buy Origin simply because I don't have faith that EA is truly serious about developing it. I check the Origin client periodically and have a few games on there (all of which I subsequently purchased on Steam).

In my opinion, the improvements done since launch are microscopic compared to what Steam had done in the same time frame.

i dont give a shit about Titanfall but am considering buying it on Origin just to spite Steam

edit: The fact that Valve brought fanboyism to the PC is something i cannot forgive.

Huh? I'm pretty sure video card fanboys have existed since* long before Valve created Steam.

I don't get the Steam obsession when it comes to Titanfall. What does it matter that the game is on Origin?

It doesn't. A very, very small amount of people who were going to buy it now aren't because it's not on Steam. Most people here complaining weren't going to buy it anyway, I suspect.

Edit: This forum is going to go through the same song and dance when Battlefront comes out in 2015, believe me.

I know it wouldn't stop many on gaf playing it if they wanted to, it was more about the general sentiment I've seen online. Probably just a vocal minority.

Hardware fanboys aka video card fanboys or mouse fanboys or whatever, didnt bring tried and true console war bullshit to PC. Because of Valve and their virtual console we know have people that refuse to play a game even though they have the equipment to play it.

because the majority of big multiplayer releases on Origin have had major issues(NFS, BF4, Sim City)

Is this a fault of Origin or EA? Who knows, but its made a lot of people salty with Origin.

Fully expected. I have managed to add a few of my steam friends on origin but we all launch it for the game only then shut it down so there is no stickyness to join a multiplayer game.

Has EA fixed the problem where each game has its own friends list seperate from Origin itself?

I did Origin for the Crysis games, but this game has competition from Dark Souls 2, South Park: SOT, and RE4 fixed version. I'll at least wait for reviews. If reviews are awesome, I'll jump in. If reviews are lackluster, congrats on choosing a platform that causes me not to preorder, lol.

Jesus, when did that happen? Yeah, you're totally right.

Not certain exactly when, a couple months ago? Valve games are pretty much everywhere now except for Origin. Ironically Green Man Gaming and Gamefly had the best deal on the Valve complete pack during the Christmas holiday sales. Only $24.99 on sale at these sites, which is an insane deal.

Hardware fanboys make console wars look quaint in comparison.

I do agree that it is silly to refuse to buy anything outside of steam, however, I can also agree with those that choose to skip some titles because they're only available on Origin.

not surprised at all by this, but shocked that anyone would be. Haven't had any problems with Origin so I'm all on this for PC.

Now I'm really curious. If I were to buy Half-Life on uPlay, does it launch into Steam? Like how Ubisoft games can be bought on Steam, but launch into uPlay?

im not disagreeing with this. Look, i almost broke a glass on someones face while in a hot tub because they talked shit about Aureal. However, the hardware fanaticism that took place in the PC gaming space had zero bearing on the hobby of gaming. It was all about numbers and performance, not about excluding games which is the name of the game for console fanaticism.

I'm pretty sure you're just buying a key to put into steam.

EA games are also sold on GMG, Uplay, etc., but you still need to use Origin to play them.

Expected, and they will lose "some" sales due to it. EA seems to control a bit more than people expected from selling exclusivity, to origin. Just waiting on the punkbuster announcement.

People are shocked an EA game is only available via EA's online service like all EA games?

Am I missing something here?

It's Titanfall. It automatically means whatever possible negative even as little as this will be made to be seen as a catastrophe. It's pretty much par for the course with Titanfall threads.

As for Origin, it's whatever. I play BF4 just fine and if I end up picking Titanfall up on PC rather than Xbox One then Origin won't be any issue.

Still blows my mind people will not play something because it's not on Steam.

The day i do this is the day i quit gaming forever. Also, did anyone ever expect htis not to be an Origin exclusive? I always assumed, it being EA and all. Also, to people who buy EA games on consoles but boycott origin, what are you trying to accomplish? You act as if Origin makes your computer slower or somehow installs viruses. People are ridiculous.
