Titanfall requires Origin.

Man is it just me or are people really just looking for any possible reason to hate on this game?

I mean I understand that gamers like to complain and get on their high-horses a lot but jeez...

No problem for me. My pc support all sorts of apps.

Doubt I'm getting the game though. It's been so long since I bought a competitive fps game.

Expected, and they will lose "some" sales due to it. EA seems to control a bit more than people expected from selling exclusivity, to origin. Just waiting on the punkbuster announcement.

That's something I don't understand. I can very much understand preferring Steam to Origin but why would someone not buy an Origin exclusive game just because it's not on Steam?

Didn't bother me with Battlefield 3, 4 or Sim City. I would have preferred a Steam version but the Origin client is a minor annoyance.

Because people are absolutely fucking ridiculous.

God forbid you have to click an extra button. Want all your games in one place? Just put the launcher in Steam and save your user/pass on origin and there you go. What's more ridiculous is people who boycott Origin but buy the EA games on consoles. You are still supporting EA.

I would just like to point out that years ago Half Life 2 was justifying Valves bullshit we now call steam.

We're not still using the Valve did this 10 years ago thing right (Valve too!)? Valve worked hard to make Steam amazing, EA has predictably done jack shit with Origin. It still doesn't have features that Steam had 3 years ago when they launched Origin let alone all the stuff Valve has done since.

So its okay to give Valve a decade to get the client up to snuff but Origin needs to die right out of the gate?

It took Valve about 4 years to really get it going strong. I'm pretty sure this is the 3rd year of Origin (which was really just a name change with EADM, so really it's year what...8?) and they've done almost nothing since. They better get moving the clock's ticking!

im not disagreeing with this. Look, i almost broke a glass on someones face while in a hot tub because they talked shit about Aureal. However, the hardware fanaticism that took place in the PC gaming space had zero bearing on the hobby of gaming. It was all about numbers and performance, not about excluding games which is the name of the game for console fanaticism.

LOL!

In this case, I think excluding a game is perfectly fine because EA sucks.

I mean there are no new car companies that we just wave off with yeah they're get past the horse carriage, I mean Ford got a huge head start so it's not fair to compare them!

Origin is fine, not too in your face. My biggest gripe is that it forces language on you based on IP geolocation rather than making it an option somewhere, which is all kinds of stupid.

My biggest issue with BF is the stupid browser launcher, that shit can go to hell.

Guys I have been thinking about getting an iPhone, but I don't think I'm going to because it requires a proprietary charger.

If it was micro usb I would totally buy it though.

Apple lost a sale there with me.

Titanfall was so awesome that I forgot it was an EA game, this hit me pretty hard. I will miss Titanfall, but there are enough games in the market to keep me busy. Think positively, I suddenly got $60 for other games.

But come on. I mean it doesn't format your hard drive on install so why all the EA hate fanboy?

The only way I'll ever buy it now is if gets included in a Humble Bundle, and even then I still wouldn't give EA my money.

Standards and expectations have been set in that time period.

This is true too. Valve was mostly in uncharted territory with Steam, they had to pave the road and convince publishers to get on board. When EA bailed out there was already a road-map in place for a digital storefront/client and they STILL haven't bothered trying to catch up with Steam. Meanwhile Valve's flown ahead of them even more with the market, greenlight, and all this Steam OS/big picture stuff they've been doing for most of the last year.

We could write an entire book on the amount of reasons to despise EA even if we exclude their Steam copycat service.

Serious question. What features are lacking from Origin that are keeping you from it?

Afaik Origin works fine. i click the launcher and then play games. Is the lack of a Greenlight equivalent keeping you from using Origin?

I have no issue with it, but some people like a few of my friends can't be bothered with yet another launcher service. Others just hate EA, sometimes for valid reason.

I honestly would love an explanation that didn't sound half crazed. I can understand not buying because it's EA but just because it's on Origin being a deal breaker, sounds crazy on multiple levels.

I don't get the Steam obsession when it comes to Titanfall. What does it matter that the game is on Origin?

If you don't want Origin, it presents a problem.

Personally I don't want to encourage more publishers to spin out their own clients.

Is Origin bad enough to warrant not purchasing a game?

Or is this people trying to take a "stance" against EA? By wanting to purchase their game but refusing to play on Origin?

Origin isn't going away anytime soon. I hope that isn't a shock to anyone.

Hate EA is fair enough but that's some stupid ass logic, if you were going to buy the game on steam your were going to give EA money anyway. If you truly hated EA you wouldn't even have thought about buying the game let alone on steam.

So it pretty much comes down to another application.

I came from an era where all my games where on my desktop or hidden in some folder. Ive never seen what the big deal was with having to use origin to play a game youre interested in. I remember a day n age where steam was hated and deemed useless.

Its not the end of the world

We're talking about a launcher service though. It takes like five minutes to set up. How lazy do you have to be, to deprive yourself of a game because you don't want to waste five minutes on your computer?

I have no problem with this considering I used origin to play DS3 and BF3 and it wasn't even all that bad. Now Uplay can eat a dick, Used that to Play Prince of Persia and GRO and had the dumbest problems.

If it was against EA on principle they would say it (and a couple have). The majority of those that oppose it are doing so because its not on Steam. And i guess because Origin doesnt have Greenlight or something. Origin patches games automatically, updates itself automatically, logs in automatically.. but thats not enough. Its Steam or bust.

Steam copycat service.

So if you owned a business and you had 2 options.

A. Sell your product on someone else's store, but they take a cut of every one of your sales.

or

B. You open up your own store, and don't have someone else take part of your profits.

I know you'll probably say you'd pick A and come up with some reason to justify it, but from a business perspective it makes sense.

My friends for one. Kind of like asking why I don't use myspace.

Huh? Add it to your steam game list. If your friends are going to play will they not be on origin also anyway? :/

Not directed at you per say but people are not getting this because is on Origin and not Steam? wtf... We have digital content fanboys now too?

No but I do really like the market. I don't even use it much outside of cards and I've made a good $100+ in the past year.

Here's the main problem with Origin and similar services...why does it exist? What does it offer me that Steam doesn't? Why should I use it when I have an established library of hundreds of games and it's the platform I use to talk with my friends online? The only reason it exists is because EA didn't want to give Valve their 30% cut and I'm sorry but boo fucking hoo. That's not a good enough reason for me to use their pointless service. They need to offer a lot of big time features that I don't already have access to.
