Eurogamer update:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-06-11-its-time-for-your-latest-update-on-the-last-guardian

As to what's actually happening with The Last Guardian, which is widely believed to have shifted platform to the PlayStation 4, the situation remains much as it was at Gamescom last year. "It's the same message!" Yoshida said with a smile.

"Lots of people tweeted me they were heartbroken by that news [prior to the show]. People are going through this roller coaster of emotions, and it's our fault for not releasing the game, yet. We owe a lot to those people, but we really don't want to release piecemeal information until we can say this is The Last Guardian - so we ask you to wait."

Hopefully that wait won't be too much longer.

I'm not sure what he means with "This is The Last Guardian" ?
He means until it's something they can be proud of?
Until it's close to release and they have something representative of the quality of the final game?
Or maybe that they still don't know what the game will be about so they're not sure what to show?LOL :D

Btw at this point they should make a commitment if they want to be credible...I really don't get why it is so hard to show a trailer just to say that the game is alive and coming on PS4? If that's the case of course...
They're showing CG trailers and teasers for other games which are way more important than The Last Guardian and with this game they have so many issues?
Also game journalists should press a little bit more instead of just asking ''what's up?'' and then accepting whatever they're being told without objecting.

Can we get our thread title back? :'(

That Eurogamer article sounds good too. Im confident theyll show it but I really hate how much back and forther there is between being cancelled or being in full development. Between rumors, Sony not showing anything, and Keighlys tweets, the past few days have sucked.

But still. Im hopeful. I dont really know why. I just am.

Yup. Which sounds really bad. If they still don't know what it is, that means that if they suddenly find out tomorrow, that's another three years or so until release.

It sounds like they want to show it off when it's ready to be revealed, so the quote needs additional quotation marks like "This is The Last Guardian" as opposed to "This might be what The Last Guardian might turn out like".

The fact that they revealed the game in 2009 and then failed to deliver it by the target release window of late 2011 probably made them really cautious about when they'll release anything regarding the game. I get why they don't want to release teeny bits of information here and there, but people want ANYTHING regarding the game at this point. Just a percentage of how far along it is or something, really.

It's too bad it's been so long, but I want it to be as good as it can possibly be.

As long as Sony says they're still working on it, just gotta have patience I guess.

I understand, Shu. But we're not asking for a live demo or even a trailer. A single screenshot of the game in its current state and a confirmation that development has moved to PS4. That's all I want. Why can't you do that?

Polyphony Digital always pulls this shit too. Keeping fans in the dark for extended periods of time. It's just frustrating.

I'm honestly pretty hopeful that it'll finally show up at TGS this year given the new gen is finally here and that they acknowledged its existence for the first time in a while. If it doesn't show up there though it's probably dead.

Only 3 more months until we see.

I'd like for this to be true, but a re-reveal of The Last Guardian is too big a deal for the increasingly-irrelevant TGS now. Honestly, I think the only time we'll ever see the game again is at E3, so prepare yourself for another year's wait.

The dream is dead.

Sony just wheel out that its still in development when a website claim its cancelled.

I am not as hung up about it as others, the fact the studio didn't release an entire game during the longest console generation is a waste of resources, and if Sony were serious about this game they would've kicked their butts long ago or got rid of them.

If there is no new footage at Gamescon or TGS then here is a risk the game may have been changed drastically from the initial reveal and may be a different game completely.

This can't be a funeral reception because TLG is eternal (in our imagination) and hence inmortal. The day TLG gets officially cancelled is the day gaming ends. And because thats not going to happen... Keep gaming, keep believing.

I guess I can post these here: development images for The Last Guardian's physics engine taken from one of the many patents for the game.

how would you all feel if it eventually released both on ps4 and ps3? I mean, all those years of development. You have to assume they want to get as much back as possible.

Sony's Gamescom press conference will take place on Tuesday, August 12 at 7:00pm local time (6:00pm UK time), the platform holder has confirmed.

While there aren't any hints at what to expect from the show, Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has previously suggested that there could be some new games revealed during Sony's press conference, teasing last month that Sony still had "some things for GamesCom [and] TGS as well."

CHARGE MEN!

Completely done with TLG. Don't even care anymore.

A good game would of released by now. It would only take this long to develop if they built it up, found out it sucked ( ala santa monica space IP ) and have spent the last 4 years trying to fix it.

announce it if you like, prove me wrong, but done with TLG. And this coming from a massive SOTC fan who thinks it is one of the best games ever made. TLG has been an utter devastating thing to have to put up with for 8 fuggin years.

They should of just made SOTC 2 or something

CHARGE MEN!

Even as a firm believer that TLG will still make its way onto our consoles at some point, I doubt we'll see it at Gamescom. A re-reveal would be considered megaton status by this point, and Gamescom is too small an arena to bring it back. It's E3 or bust.

I feel like if this game still actually exist it is a completely different game than what they have shown

They want to formally cancel because that is a bad move, but my guess is there is no real game( or was) and they went back to the drawing board, started from scratch and there is nothing to show out of this new game.

TGS is only 2 months away.

Time for Round 2!

The E3 disappointment was big this year, Sony might be preparing something for TGS to keep the dedicated fans happy. Never before have I seen members of GAF disappointed with Sony closing the show with a real-time Uncharted reveal. The love and passion for this project is still strong!

Round 2... ding, ding ding!

I'll never stop waiting this game regardless of this post, of this thread, of this site, of the entire internet, of the whole planet heart, of all the fucking universe and beyond the epilogue of "2001: A Space Odyssey"

Add me in the list, I don't care.
